Thanks, just worried about the traffic really on that route. I think simpler fix would be to get a standard 9 to 17:00 and travel with a bike bus. Not many colleagues are willing to try cycling and if they do they sigh on spending on a decent bike.

Working till 20:00 in the evening and cycling from town till Parow at that hour is stupid and irresponsible. What was i thinking? The cycle lanes are dark had to ride on the bus lane as two guys tried the jump on me as I passed the first MyCiti terminus after the gate entry. Scared sh!teless I got to pedaling, out of breath, legs burning and fear being my only inspiration. First attempt and never again by myself. Needless to say the wind was no help either

Hello to you, I started commuting in March, everyday cycle helped me, but wake try leave earlier than you think you should, cycle at an easy 16-20km/h... Its darn cold in the mornings so dress comfortably, not too hot though and lights, as many as you can fit. Red flashes in the rear and nice white or yellows up front.

I would have liked to do this event, but my lift is going to Tru Cape

Was a good event, my first experience and the 30km was fine till the first uphill about 10km in... I know i could cycle up but people dismount in front of you and you are forced to do the same. I'm considering doing the Tru Cape this coming Saturday.

Guys, what is the best sealant for tubes? I cant do the whole tubeless thing now as my LBS wants to charge me R1200 including tyres... Sludge or what?

Thanks for the info guys, so its not worth the effort right now, I would have liked to convert the merida to a 30speed but keeping the SLX RD, research shows it only supports 9speed. Oh well...

Hi guys, i have three bicycles that i want to change components between. Scott Aspect 620 26" - 3x10 speed Deore with Deore shifters KMC X10 chain Silverback Slade 4 27.5" - 3x8 speed Acera/Altus Altus Shifters KMC Z8 chain Merida BigNine TFS300 29er - 3x9 speed SLX/Acera Acera shifters KMC Z99 9s chain i want to change 3x8 to the Scott the 3x9 to the silverback but with the deore rd and the 3x10 to the merida keeping the slx, all 3 bikes are 2014 models Will the chains fit over from the one to the other with the Cassettes swap, would i need master links for each and what kind?

yes in truth I owned a total of 13x26ers in my life, but to be honest it has its place and thats not commuting. I prefer my 650B or 29er for that. keep the 26er for the tight technicals. Thats my opinion for my riding style.

Point taken, it still feels good though, a feeling of accomplishment. Plus for me who started commuting this year, it has helped my fitness tons, to the point where I can now almost push the full 15km of my commute without needing to heave my chest inside out. yes my legs feel but thats about it. Im starting to enjoy the burn and Endomondo is my friend for tracking and Strava for logging segments.
