  1. He will be in "GOOD COMPANY"
  2. Just wanted to say that the Karoo2Coast....best one day race in SA!!
  3. Hi, the Santa Cruz is the best bike I've ever ridden. (I've been a mtb'er for 18 years). PM me and I will geve you contact details to get a Tall Boy for allot cheaper. I will rather go for SRAM XX and Mavic crossmax wheels(bomb proof) See you at the 2013 Epic!
  4. Well done for taking the time to give us feedback!
  5. I think the heat played a role and the new "technical climb" at 50km. Still a cool race!
  6. Ahhh...I can feel the pain again! I need one of those on the bike cams to show all my non-cycling friends..if you dont ride you cannot understand!
  7. Thanks to the guys from mountain rescue that saved me from a 7km walk back to the finish! One single truth: You cannot sit on a sloping top tube while you are cramping....
  8. At 11:00, it was 31 degrees.... With all that wet ground and heat, same as a pressure cooker!
  9. Glad to hear I did not suffer alone.... Word of advice...carbon seat posts are light but not as strong as they should be...
  10. I believe there should be a balance between challenging and pleasure! I broke my seat post after 68km and could not continue, picked up by the mountain rescue guys. While in their vehicle I could listen to the emergency calls on the radio....too many "emergencies”! Must say I did not enjoy it... The story is that they are trying to host the Marathon World Champs for woman....Hope they are not trying to build a reputation for the toughest race... I did the Trans Draak (210 km and over 3000m of climbing) and the Sabie where ten times tougher! No one that I spoke to were impressed!
  11. Hi, just want to test the water.... What did you guys and girls think of the level of difficulty of the "new look" course?
  12. Unfortunately South Africa stands in the back of the queue when it comes to new bikes....the US and European markets get the new bikes first. Internationally we are small players....
  13. Because he is only in it for the money....he does not care about the sport..
  14. Cajees is only for the very well informed buyer.... Do not buy from them if you do not know what you want, size, spec’s etc. Neither the owners nor the sales staff has any “real experience”. “Real” bike shops might be more expensive but you get proper advice and service.... My EBB came loose near their shop on Hendrik Potgieter.....I popped in (desperate) because I did not have the right length allen key to tighten it again. Most of the sales staff did not know what an EBB is...then they made comments on the fact that it was the “wrong brand” that I was riding....and comments on the fact that it was a SS... Finally got to their workshop.....I turned around and called my wife to come and pick me up....(I did not want to risk taking my bike in there....The one “mechanic” wanted to tighten the EBB with a spanner! My advice (riding mtb’s since 1993) start building a relationship with your LBS, be loyal, and they will start to value you as a client and better prices will follow. Speak to any reputable LBS: they hate it when someone buys “cheap” and then expect them to only sort out the problems due to miss fitting etc... All the best... In Afrikaans we say: “Goedkoop koop is duur koop!”
  15. Hi All! I just want to check if anyone knows if the lady that had the epileptic fit this morning is ok? I think she was part of the Cycle Lab group. I hope she is doing ok! It was great to see so many cyclists stopping to see if they can help, that is what it is about! All the best!
  16. Thank you! Us mtb'ers are great! Will let you all know and post pictures!
  17. I was a Drongo for a moment!
  18. Thanks to all, will check and let you know. Fingers crossed!
  19. Thanks mate....
  20. I need advice: I own a Gary Fischer Rig Single speed 29er, I love the bike and want to convert it to a geared bike....any advice? I suppose the biggest question is where to fit the rear/d ?
  21. Hi, go for the 29er, I've got both. 26-full susser and 29er single speed. On single track tight trails: 26" rules, open fire roads or technical downhills-29er are great, once it gets up to speed...awesome and it roles over obstacles like a full susser. Try and test one! Cheers
  22. Hi , I live in Northcliff and would also be keen to do rides in the morning or afternoon .
