  1. Please share your degrease cleaning and lube regiment.
  2. I must tone myself better. Sorry, was not trying to be such a wise ass but I surely came across that way. It's crazy, I have done a stint of research as I just bought myself a Silverback Sola 1 as it came out with a GX Eagle and the Marida Ninety six range in my budget came out with NX or some sort of Shimano setup. Breaking down the bikes in groupsets and all other components and sets it there is very little left to allocate to the frame. There are some articles that compares the different SRAM varients. I am not convinced the more you pay the better the durability or quality. In some instances the parts that change is to make them lighter and not perse stronger. My bike got delivered today. I will give you my opinion again in a few weeks. Not that it matters..
  3. I'm just asking did you not forget the SX Eagle. It is the latest addition and is below the NX.
  4. Was at Groenkloof Saturday as gates opened. Went with 2 friends so felt safe. Also saw nothing suspicious except a Kudu Bull in the single track and an ostrich mother telling a buddy to move along. I saw a guy walking on the inside next to the perimeter clearly putting his attention at looking for holes in fence as he should, I just would like the park to supply staff with uniform. It makes you feel better and I am sure it will benefit the moral of workers. The ride was amazing. I was at Klapperkop this morning. Last week I saw the place littered with cyclists. Today it was spooky I only saw a few joggers. Maybe my timing or maybe some people are still managing a babelas.
  5. Worth looking up for more of their songs.
  6. Yup the Munga is a race with a limited amount of people that can actually win it. You have to be a good cyclist and then you have to be tough mentally and then you need to be able to dig into that dark place to be a contender. For the price-tag you are not even offered a memorable experience ore some comfort just the badge and sense of accomplishment that says, I have done this. I do not even think there will be something spectacular about the route as it is all about covering as much distance in as little time as possible. The race is a flippen good idea but the prize money required the entry fee to be too high and the amount of entrants needed to be too many as well. I'd rather go for a decent prize get more media involved and attract more people and land a sponsor that will be happy to pay for the coverage and participation generated by the event. I hope this happens would like to see what it takes to win this race
  7. I am taking a 10 day rest a month before my big event. Thereafter I have 3 weeks to train. Will the 10 day rest cause a huge gap in my training or can I optimize my training afterwords in a way that the 10 day rest will actually have a positive affect on my training. The month leading up to the resting period saw me doing intensive training and today I rode my best ever ride. I can say I achived my goals today the day before I rest. BTW not resting is not an option. I am taking a family holiday and the mistress (cycling) is not invited. My sport is MTB
  8. I can try and join you. What area are you coming from maybe I can join you earlier along the route. By 6 I have done an hour or so already.
  9. So the problem is getting worse not better in the east. There vagrants besetting most empty fields in the east too. Initiatives like a critical mass is necessary where people get together and reclaim vacant land as safe areas. There are too many of these stories floating around. It is even threatening communities that live in the areas close to these fields. We are already hearing of attacks in "Protected" areas like Groenkloof. Definately just avoiding unsafe areas wont work. We need to infest these areas in a safe manner and by our presence show we are not afaraid.
  10. Anyone want to do Klapperkop trails for about 30 mins or so on Friday morning at 05:30 or 06:00. I only want to go if there is a few people in a group. It is quite light by then and nice and cool still too.
  11. The tar road at KK I think is not the main issue. I think the gravel paths are where the danger lies and that is where i want to be.
  12. When cycling I find when I look down and follow a line or keep my wheels on course by keeping the same distance from the side it is easier to push past the pain barrier than when I try to look ahead.
  13. Jip always after pushing myself I sit at work staring at the screen no really figuring out what I am supposed to do. On that subject sometimes it works out nicely. I struggle to concentrate on repetitive work that do not require thinking but when my lights are dimmed I kind of get lost in it as I am not thinking about it.
