  1. Cool, thanks.
  2. lol. Care to elaborate?
  3. Hi all, this may have been discussed before but I can't find it so please link me if it has. I have an 8-speed rear-derailleur setup and am considering changing to 9-or-10 speed. I know this means derailleur, chain, cluster and shifter but does it also mean hub? In other words, will the 9 or 10-speed cluster, attached to my current hub, fit in my frame or will I need a narrower hub?
  4. I'm running 26's...
  5. I can get the Conti MK 2.4 for about R270, can't find stock of the 2.2 wire-bead which is why I was considering the 2.4... Not trying to punt the 2.4, just saying...
  6. @nigelhicks - You recommend the Maxxi in a 2.3, will that not also be chunky like the Conti MK 2.4?
  7. Thanks for the comments!!! I was concerned that the 2.4 was going to be chunky but it seems this thread has consensus on that. @nigelhicks - Thanks for the suggestion I'll look into that tyre... Any more suggestions/advice, please keep it coming!
  8. I apologise if this has been discussed, if it has please assist me with a link as my search results failed. I ride a hardtail, mostly fun rides and 40-50km Cross-Country. Really enjoy technical sections. I am changing tyres now and have decided on the Conti Race King 2.2 for the rear and Conti Mountain King up front. I'm undecided as to whether I should go 2.2 or 2.4 up front. Please assist me with your experience with either size, I need to know if the 2.4 will be "too big" or if the difference negligible. Any advice/experience will be greatly appreciated. Thanks
  9. Weighed it on a digital floor scale at 11.2kg's, then on a hanging scale at 11.9kg's... Somewhere around there for now.
  10. Yup 80mm travel with carbon crown. ...and I don't mind about the leg's, I weigh 58kg's so I won't be bending them anytime soon Yeah so my components are dated . But they still work like a dream and weigh nothing so I'm smiling... na_vtec2009-06-30 06:29:01
  11. Thanks guys! Hey Marius, it is the SID World Cup but to be honest I'm not 100% sure which year model. The person I bought it from said it was a 2006 model but I think it's older than that. Is there a sure way to tell? I have replaced the Oil Seals & Dust seals and they are AWESOME! Super smooth on uphill and downhill. Dual Air IS THE WAY TO GO!!!! Weight is 1320g with remote lock-out & cable. Only issue I have is with the remote lockout, it does not release entirely on some occasions, so I have to adjust manually every now and then. *shrugs*

  13. After alot of thinking and excel spreadsheets and watching the for sale thread I decided to build up my next bike. I kept the parts from my old bike that I still like and upgraded the rest, I still have a few things I want to upgrade but I have enough to get it rolling so I can ride it in the meantime. That's enough text for a Photo thread: My New Hardtail - http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y64/Ikabot/Trek8500Build1.jpg http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y64/Ikabot/Trek8500Build3.jpg http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y64/Ikabot/Trek8500Build2.jpg No couch pic, cos MTBikers do it in the bush: http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y64/Ikabot/Neal1-1.jpg

  16. King's of Leon - Revelry *goosebumps*
  17. Short answer, Yes I thoroughly enjoyed it... Long answer: This was my first 80km race as I am used to always doing +-40km distances. Never managed to train as hard as I had planned to, due to an achilles injury, but was fine none-the-less. Took the first 35km pacing myself, managed to keep an ave speed of 19.5, this dropped alot in the climb to the hill and as low as 16.7 after the hill. Struggled alot with fatigue between 54km and 67km but the last downhill to the finish felt stronger and pushed raising my average speed to 17. Finished in 4:41 which I am happy with for my first attempt. Need to work on strength for the long gentle uphills next time round.
  18. Digging up old graves here but only saw this now... Very nice dude! Loving the white on black colour scheme - PANDA See you on friday for it's initiation on sat at Lion Man!!!
  19. Like I said to you before, you deserve an upgrade for the way you ride Congrat's dude, AWESOME bike!

  21. Agree'd, thanks. What I want to know is, what does a light MTB frame weigh?
  22. Hey guys, I am doing a little research on lightening up my bike and am battling to get information on what the average frame alone weighs, no crank, components just a completely naked frame. Then what does a light frame weigh? My Trek 8000SL frame weigh's 1.498kg's - Complete bike 12.7kg's My Schwinn Moab Disc weigh's 1.810kg's - Complete bike 13kg's Please post yours...
