  1. Interesting regarding schwalbe's racing ralphs, from their webpage Never saw that before
  2. Duno how to change it on tapatalk. I have auto correction turned off because I'm Afrikaans.
  3. Booked a setup @ cycle fit for Wednesday since I've seen their name mentioned in the forums.
  4. Hi I need some advice on back pain. I did the 30km dualx on Saturday and almost gave up half way because my back started hurting unbearably. I have experienced this before when riding bumpy trails, but not on tar. About 15km in and my back is done. It hurts just below my shoulder blades. I'm fine with running and cross training. I have never gone for a bike setup so do would that be the first step? Or do I go see a doctor or chiropractor? And where do I find them in Centurion?
  5. I see my old Merida has Hayes 'stroker ryde" brakes, and I cannot seem to find brake pads for it online. Does any one know who would stock it in Gauteng or online?
  6. Got the Ikons and tried to put one on yesterday. Should be simple enough but I cannot get the thing inflated quickly enough, even at a garage.
  7. I see Maxxis Ikon 29er Tyre EXO/3C are on sale at CWC. Are they good enough for groenkloof/the barn/dualx races? I sliced a Schwalbe Racing Ralph at groenkloof last week and have to get my tyres sorted
  8. Nope, i last cycled on tar roads in school days, about 15 years ago. Strange thing is we were always told to face oncoming traffic. The tar road that i have to cycle now is a quiet road in the eastern cape. And early mornings most traffic is a few taxis and busses. Because it is so narrow, it felt very awkward cycling with traffic. I rode it the proper way the other day, and I'm still here(trolling apparently)! So i guess it's something to get used to. Though i do miss being able to ride with music.
  9. Yes, I'm a poorly skilled troll; not much interest in it if not face to face. My initial post was not for trolling though. I have no close family or friends that cycle, so i thought I'll ask on thehub. However the amount of responses along the line of "you're an idiot for not knowing and a troll for asking" is quite off putting.
  10. Thank you. Finally someone with a decent response. I was beginning to wonder if there were any adults here. Any case i found this interesting, related to cycling: http://www.vice.com/read/you-can-kill-anyone-you-want-with-your-car-as-long-as-you-dont-really-mean-it
  11. I was asking seriously, and where better to ask than on the hub? My concern was that early morning the only traffic on the road here are taxis and busses. I do not trust them. They tend not to move over a bit when passing, they just plow straight ahead.
  12. I do mountain biking, but there's not much in the line of MTB trails here
  13. How do you recon its more dangerous? I'm still on the road, with a vehicle passing me. The only difference is I can see the vehicle.
  14. Blondeonabike i cannot tell of you're being serious? :-) Iamstewart, it does not feel safe for me though.
  15. I have had to cycle on tar roads for the past week, being on holiday, which i have not done in years. I notice everybody cycles on the left, which is awkward for me since i like to see approaching vehicles. Is there a reason for it?
  16. If it was for me then secondhand it would be, but it's not for me and I do not want the responsibility of if something goes wrong with a secondhand bike
  17. Hi I need some advice on a starter bike for a lady. She might end up doing the odd race(if she does get into it big time we will upgrade) So far we have decided on the Titan calypso 29r sport. Anything better in that price range(and if you say better, why)?
  18. Have you got more info on these trails? Want to google them
  19. Then he must have had no queues or jumped them. I was in G(If I remember correctly), chased like crazy, and the queue @ the red bull thing looked like this: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0By1JvAT6GDpLTkhseTI5TzRyd1E/view?usp=sharing https://drive.google.com/file/d/0By1JvAT6GDpLU0VTOU1xNURhRDg/view?usp=sharing
  20. Don't know if this is related but my mother in law had a back op a few months ago where they put some plates in. She wants to take up cycling, and is asking my advice (i know nothing), on purchasing a bike. Is a dual suspension be 'better' for her back? Does it matter?
  21. I did ask them, here is the reply: I would just cable tie the whole thing onto the helmet
