  1. thought i could keep busy while waiting for my dad. why did the bomb push the tire over the rim? its a 8bar bomb for a 8bar tire. could it be that it inflated to fast? the tube was inserted properly with no twists and the tire was fitted proper as well.

  3. they talked about it on supercycling yesterday, going to be a total of 20 teams if i remember correctly and the teams will be a mix of international, continental and national teams. They named a few international teams who already confirmed their participation, i listened with half an ear so can't really tell you more
  4. thanks for your reply, luckily I'm a realist and am under no illusion to what it takes, its a difficult path, lets see what happens
  5. my solution was salt tabs and proper stretching before and after training
  6. Is there anyone here with some insight on the topic? I'm not from a family of aspiring cyclists, so it'sdifficult to place how things work in the pro cycling world, especially becauseSA pro cycling isn't documented on the web like you would find if you searchedfor pro cycling in Europe or the US, the “local pages” on Google doesn't offermuch info. This is what I could find out... you don't do it for thesalary! Entry level pro’s earn like ± R5k pm, the top Guys earnabout R25k( is this even correct?) So what I couldn't find out is how the process work of oneday finding yourself part of a pro team. Is it as simple as just competing in races, finishing with the main peloton until someone from a team eventually spots you? How do they find newtalent?
  7. I know this has been posted before, but most of the guys have their bikes on their existing household insurance. I need a good and trusted stand-alone insurance on my bike, all our stuff is insured on First for woman(on my mom's name) and they charge a ridiculous R300 p/m for my bike ! I Know MiWay offers an stand-alone option, Ingwe doesn't. Cycle sure is a bit to expensive at R205 p/m on a R25 000 replacement value. Looking to go up to R150 max p/m Anyone knows about PEDAL CARE? their website and email doesn't work which have me wondering if they are any good...
  8. No, this is the first race in the Western Cape I entered, so I knew squat about PPA. I saw the EDCC wellington on the Internet, entered online on cyclelab, collected my number the Thursday at cyclelab shop, purchased a timing chip online as well. Got in the car Sunday and drove to the race, got my chip there, they called the U23 to the start, I went over the matts, and did the race.
  9. Here is the reply I received from Racetec, hence the start of this topic. Hi Elvin, Unfortunately we are unable to publish your results as you are not a PPA member, as this race is a PPA event, you are required to be a PPA member if you would like your results to be displayed. Once you have joined PPA, please let us know and we will re-run results to enable you to view this on the website. You may contact PPA at 021 689 8420 or info@pedalpower.org.za<mailto:info@pedalpower.org.za> or visit their website: www.pedalpower.co.za<http://www.pedalpower.co.za> Regards Janine Beckett RaceTec Race Office: +27 21 763 7960 Website: www.racetec.co.za
  10. Well, I'm of to go and join PPA, against my will, I have absolutely no desire to join them, joining them now will actually just mess everything up cause I just got a new CSA License with my new Club, now a new license needs to be issued AGAIN. Still can't believe it actually, that PPA has the audacity to omit my results for a chip I paid for, how they can have a say on whether I can see my results on Racetec is beyond my understanding I guess, and further more confusing is that CSA is allowing this!
  11. I'm from KZN, moved to the Cape a few months ago and getting really frustrated with this whole PPA business! I Did the EDCC 99km in Wellington on Sunday just to find "no results" on the Racetec website, mailed them just to find out that only PPA members can have their time displayed! As a benefit of being a PPA member Why did I then join a club, and bought a CSA license, and a Racetec chip? If it comes in as totally useless when PPA decides to throw their name over an event, as I understand it Cycling South-Africa is the governing body over cycling, so where does PPA fit in??? I bought a chip so that I can get timed and build on my seeding, but it's real frustrating when you finish a 99km race in 2h48 (according to my trip computer) and can't get your results confirmed! My actual time might even be better by a few minutes as I started the trip meter while waiting at the start and ended it a bit later after the finish Can someone please explain the role of PPA (deep sigh).........
  12. I'm looking to get a decent racing bike,at least a 2010 year model, full carbon frame and Shimano Ultegra components. The market seems to be dead now, went to a few bike shops around cape town with no luck. No one has my size, 58cm Came across an amazing deal the other day, a 2010 Felt F3 with Sram red components for R23 995.......but they only had a 56cm, Felt.... felt like crying....... I can afford anything between 20k and 23 999.99, if its R24 000.95 its too much
  13. So this has been discussed OVER and OVER again, but everyone seems to have their own idea on what the duty and vat will amount to, leaving me....clueless I came across this formula:17.5%VAT X [ (price + 10%) X 14% ] So on a road bike from CRC costing 13988.05 ZAR, total cost will amount to: 13988.05 ZAR + 10% = 15 386.85 then, R15 386.85 X 14% = R17 541 So, 17.5% X ( R17 541) = TOTAL PRICE R 20 610.67 Is this correct? are there any other costs? except for shipping?
  14. what about Anatomic? Saw them advertised in Ride Magazine, are they any good, or is my best bet on the Cape Storm Nitros ?
  15. If you know of a better buy, please post it here, I'm based in the Western Cape. Thanks
  16. does Carbon frames break/crack easily ? Or would it withstand an impact the same as an alu frame? And when it does crack or brake can it be repaired. Thinking about going carbon because of this beauty...? http://www.cube-bike.co.za/images/stories/AgreeAGC/agree-gtc-pro.jpg
  17. My step dad and myself want to develop my road cycling potential. I want to get focused on training and improve my performance and fitness. This is what we want to do, I have a Trek aluminum road bike that I'll train on, and then we want to buy a bike in the price range of 15k - 20k to race on (although we saw a very sexy Cube @30k the other day that might have us spending a bit to much....) Is it a correct assumption that one will get "more bike" at 20k when buying an aluminum bike compared to a carbon bike at 20k? What are the pros and cons to weigh to each other? Carbon does seem to be the future though... Is there still a place for Aluminum?
  18. I agree 100% with you, brand new means it is in as good as condition as if it was still in store, especially if you paid a "brand new" price. If I purchased something from the hub stating it is brand new I would have the same expectations you had on my purchase. Seems your item is in "excellent condition" or "almost as new"
  19. Julius Malema must be removed from power and influence. He is poisoning South Africans with his racist remarks and hate towards people. Please click here: http://www.mypetition.co.za/index.php?page=sign_petition&petition_id=427 and sign the petition to remove him as president from the ANCYL. It is easy and only takes 1 minute. Please forward this email to everyone in your address book and help save our rainbow nation!
  20. How can JM support Zanu-PF ? What kind of mental disease does he have?, I can't rap my mind around the fact that someone living in south africa, enjoying the technologies and modern luxuries it offers, can look at Zimbabwe and say "this is good, we all can do with some Zanu-PF leadership" OMW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I should stop following the news I think, making me old! By the way, I could understand why some people in Zimbabwe could vote for Zanu-PF, opression, hallucination as result of no food, insanity as result of no food etc....
  21. does anyone know what JM actually does at the ANCYL, There is never any talk about the work he does..... maybe because he doesn't do any work... I wonder what he has brought to the table at the ANCYL besides controversy, illiteracy and idiotic tendencies.?
  22. What about a party like the DA, but with black leadership? ? A?black leader that stood for the DA principles would offer good pulling power as the opposition party!? ? ? OMW, the day that the ANC looses the elections! Hope I live to see the day !!!! I'll bet you they would ask for a recount... and then suddenly the results would show that in fact they actually won by 0,0001%
  23. ? Well.......the chance of that happening and Mr BOB stepping down are one in the same, but I have this twinkling that the Afrikaner youth will get the job done, maybe not my generation(because I'm not much impressed by what I see) but maybe the youth to come. My PERCEPTION is that the current adult Afrikaner population isn't going to do anything, accept maybe if something drastic happens....
  24. Yea, it confuses me How can he talk about it on A TALK SHOW and deny it the next morning??? Beeld must be confused as hell also!
