  1. Dear all, I'm from abroad and will come to Cape Town from beginning of November until end of March for training and racing (road). I'm PPA member, male and 46 years old. My question: I asked PPA what races they would recommend me to do (see attached file)- during this period, in addition to those, what would you recommend me to race? Would it be better to get a CSA license? I will be doing the DC and if time permits the ENGEN before that and the Burger after that in November. (At the same time I'm still looking for a flat in CT -sea -board or city bowl-Campy Bay, if you got something Dec. until end of March just let me know). Thanks. Termine PPA.pdf
  2. I will mainly train on a road bike as That's the one I will take with me, I've been coming down to SA for almost 12 years and I'm PPA member and done some races, I just made myself a gift and will swap the European winter and try to follow the race calendary in SA, I'm 46 so it was about time to do it.
  3. Ok-thanks will be very vigilant.
  4. Not sure if this is the right section, I'm planning on coming to South Africa from Switzerland for 5 months-Nov until March, for the November I got something but for Dec. till March I'm looking for a furnished place to stay with a bedroom-, living room and a kitchen in the Cape Town area, as I'm planning on training these months it would be best if suitable for a cyclist (like not on the twentieth floor without elevator etc. :-) ) . All offers and input welcome.
  5. I (Pascal)-would like to join a team that targets a time of 6h30 to 6h15. So If one place is still available please call me at the mentioned number.

Anja finished in groupe G in a time of: 3h48'30". So we are looking for mixed team, male or female team who is still looking for a rider. WE are also ready to start in different teams. 7. Yes, that's truth, I' m looking forward to, I still wait on details from Karen concerning the ride. Thank's a lot for the help and time you put into it. Maybe some of you guys-girls also show up? We'll see. It will defenitely be a temperature shock since it's just not getting warmer over here (-7?C). Enjoy the weather and see you soon Pascal.
  8. No one going? we are flexible and could drive to a particular start point by car. we will have to get used to the higher temperatures and different climate (we just arrived the day before)-since over here in Switzerland all it does is snowing. In terms of speed-fitness level-we guys should be able to finish the Argus in around 3h or less and the lady in 3h20'.
  9. Hi Hubbers, we are three people (2 male 1 lady) from Switzerland arriving on the 28th of Feb. and preparing for the argus. We are staying in Camps Bay and would like to go for a nice and longer ride on the 1st of March and the following days. Whom, where and when could we join? Thanks-Pascal.el condor2009-02-17 11:20:43
  10. Hi Swissvan, no, the races are on the outside with the own racingbike converted to a singlespeeder ad hoc.
  11. First of all I would like to say hi to everyone here in the forum, I've been lurking around for some time-so here I am. I found the thread about cadence interesting and like to share my experience: Over here in Switzerland at the beginning of the season (around January-February)-still very cold and snowy outside we have every weekend fixed gear races to train the ability of riding with a higher cadence. During the winter some have a break and need to get the muscular-nervous system back on the cycling rhythm and this is a way to very effectively train coordination and stay quite in the saddle without bumping around. After a month or two of high cadence training (between 100 and 120), your riding style will become more efficient and less energy consuming due to a better coordination. When racing at say 90-95 rpm you will benefit from the high cadence training, and as mentioned before, the blood flow is better since the muscles are not contracted that long. Just my 2 cents Pascal
