  1. I actually went shopping for the same thing. You get seats made specifically for Disk Brake's, just make sure they give you the right one
  2. hmmmm.....I recon my mini pump must be extra small then, cause that short thin little thing wont impress anyone...
  3. Sorry to hear about this mate! I plan on using my bicycle to commute to work, but reading posts like these gives me second thoughts. I will use the same route, at roughly the same time every day, so the f@ckers will know my routine, if I stick to the main roads I will probably be knocked over by a car/truck/taxi/ou tannie with blue hair in a Mazda. Eish, dont own a gun, I dont trust myself with one, so I guess I have to make a plan to mount my axe on my bike... Fookers!
  4. I would like to join in, but as a complete newbie I don't want to hold everyone up. If i get to slow or to tired just gooi me on the trailor
  5. Hi, I need some more help please. My budget is a bit bigger, I can go up to 4.5k. The bikes I looked at Schwinn Mesa Disk (3K) - Received only good comments about this from most of you. Aluminum Frame SR Suntour XCT Fork Shimano Cable Disc Brakes Shimano 24 Speed Raipd Fire Gears Acera Rear Derailleur Scwhinn Mesa USD (4K) Aluminum Frame SR Suntour XCM Fork Promax Hydraulic Disc Brakes Alvio 24 Speed Shifters Deore Rear Derailleur KHS Alite 150 (2.9K) Frame Alloy 6061 w/replaceable derailleur hanger Fork SR M2025 63mm w/Mini boot Headset Cane Creek Threadless 1-1/8 Rims Weinmann alloy, machined double wall Hubs Alloy disc QR Tires KHS 26x2.0 Spokes 14G Black 32? Most of you recon the Schwinn Mesa Disk will do the job, but taking the other bikes into consideration, what would you suggest. The other option is to keep using my Makro special Mtb untill it falls apart, saving up the bucks in the mean time for this: Alite 3000 (10.9K) Frame Super lite DB U6 alloy tubing w/replaceable derailleur hanger Fork RockShox Recon Race Solo Air w/alloy steer tube & lock out remote, Motion Control, lock out, External rebound and low speed compression lock, 100mm travel Headset Tioga ZST-2 threadless, 1-1/8" Zero Stack Rims Mavic XM-317 Disc, doublewall Hubs Front: Alloy, Rear: Shimano disc, QR Tires John Tomac Small Block 8 26x2.1 Spokes 14G Black 32? 6. Thanks folks, I know slowpoke so I will bug her a bit, but I found a lekker route that avoids Hendrik Potgieter and Gordon Road, cross the Highway at Haak en Steek, its only 23km, but I go through Northcliff and Alberts Farm, and the hills there are killers. Wat nie dood maak nie maak groot, now where did I leave my EPO...
  7. Howzit, part of my training plan is to commute to work and back via pedal power. I stay in Honeydew Ridge, close to Strubens Valley. I want to cycle to Jhb CBD where I work. The route I am thinking about is to get onto HP near Clear Water Mall, all the way up to Gordon Road, down Gordan Road, through Sophia Town and Westdene, over the Westdene Dam, through Brixton with a short detour into Fordsburg into Simmond/Sauer where I work. Any one know of any better routes?
  8. Thanks for all the advice guys! Another member suggested the following bike - http://www.khsbicycles.com/04_alite_150_09.htm Look wicked, and I prefer supporting fellow hubbers, so I recon I will go with the KHS. Thanks again for all the advice and tips, and see you on the road, both on and off
  9. What is the take on the "Makro" specials, I see they have the Dunlop APex cycle for R1999 Duel suspension with disk brakes. Experience taught me that "Goed koop is duur koop", am I right in staying away from these? 10. Thanks for the replies folks! Holy, I have actually been a hubber for a looong time, but due to work I could not get to the forum for a while, forgot my old username as well so had to re-register. My current MTB is way to small for me, did a 94.7 on it a couple of years back, was hell :-) Decided its time to drag my sorry lazy lanky arse off the couch and get pedaling again, so entered for the 94.7 road race already, just waiting for the MTB entries to open to enter as well. Glad you okes recon its a good bike, its the 2008 spec though at Cajees, not the 2009 one
  11. Howzit all, I want to get a decent MTB, the one I have at the moment is a R400 jobbie from Makro. I looked around and found the following at Cajees Schwinn Mesa Disc - On special for about 3k. Is this a decent bike? I am not concerned about weight, I dont want a duel suspension, and cable disk brakes are good enough. Might use the bike to start commuting to work a couple of days a week, and do some offroading over weekends. All help will be appreciated.
