  1. Excellent!! The problem is getting route clearance and logistics to Windvogel....love the photos!! Could you perhaps send the original sized images to operations@99er.co.za 🙏
  2. 🙏🙏 We did have issues with cyclists living on the wrong side of the road. We will engage with ThinkBike to be stricter on that
  3. Trust me, we fight the same fight 🙇 Some very intolerant residents in that middle area...
  4. Brilliant suggestion 👏👏 Definitely speak to ops about that
  5. Vissershok is unusable due to local road authorities not fixing the road and we put safety over everything else. However, there is major roadworks coming to Vissers in February.....so who knows.....
  6. Lol! I was stuck in that stupid snarl up at Fisantekraal. (In my official vehicle with orange light 🤣) Eventually got out of my car and spoke to the traffic dude. It is his 1st year and I explained what I thought he should do. He didn't take too well to that BUT 5 minutes later things were better. Also, bear in mind EVERY SINGLE PERSON OUT THERE is a parent volunteering, so yes, huge kudos to them
  7. The problem we have is that there is NO OTHER WAY to get to the finish if we do not turn right off Adderly.... A venue change maybe 🤔
  8. Yeah, that gravel is a problem. However, we have many cyclists disobeying our marshals and doing their own which causes congestion. We will address for next year
  9. Thx. We are looking at neutral zone for town route
  10. Hi I was in direct communication with commissaires Shumeez Dollie at the time. She felt the entire peleton was at fault and thus her actions. She said she gave repeated warnings and has video footage. I am waiting for her race report. Unfortunately we are subject to them WP cycling and thus complaints or objections have to go straight to them. I can only apologize if you feel it was unfair. Sorry 😕
  11. Thank you very much. And I hear you wrt the Halal food. Will put that to the events team for next year
  12. Thanks v much. We have a new sponsorship with Penbev this year and thus more Coke and PowerAde
  13. Thx v much. The elites do have a neutral zone until the left onto Wellington road. I have already suggested to our committee that we do this for the ENTIRE race. Nicholas
  14. Hello all I am Nicholas Haupt. Head of Operations for the 99er event and member the 99er EXCO as well as creator of the new 99er Trilogy which was launched today. Any feedback and CONSTRUCTIVE criticism for us? We want to improve each year and this is usually a good place for feedback. PLEASE DON'T BASH AND ABUSE HERE. We would like to engage with the community in a positive way and are open to our shortcomings being highlighted but we do not need mudslinging. Helps nobody. Thanks very much 😁
  15. Yes, 100%, that is the right place. Seems we had some confusion of this. We def had coke there. Cannot understand why the youngster would say otherwise. Truly sorry about. We will make that we have better communication on that next year. Hope you join us again 🙂
  16. Hi. Point taken re the medal table 🙂 We can def consider moving it. There seems to confusion as to where the "end" is. Our definition of the end is at the timing mat on Odendaal and we def had coke, etc there. However, there is a perception that the end is at the racecourse where the medals are collected and, no, we did not cater for coke there. Our rationale being that the cyclists would want to have drink right there after the race. If they require additional fluids this can be purchased at the venue thanks for your valuable input!
  17. Hello Yes, I personally raced the Winelands and experienced the 10/12 prize giving. Problem is we gave away THREE expensive bikes, not inner tubes! lol!! So to be fair to ALL competitors we have to do it this way but I understand your point. It is a VERY LONG wait. Before being involved I raced a few 99ers myself and I know what you are saying. We will def look at the vendors and how we can better cater for cyclists Crowd control is always a problem at the end but we can mobilize more marshals to assist with asking people to move on 🙂 This is only our 2nd year with eBikes and they are an issue we are going to address thanks for you feedback, we will take it to heart!
  18. Unfortunately, because we live in CT and our race is so close to the CTCT people want a seeded ride and that means Racetec. But, yes, we are in stronger position as I think we are now the 2nd (or 3rd) biggest race in the Western Cape.
  19. I feel your pain...(or the lack thereof!) Vissers is out of our control unfortunately
  20. Hi. 1. Yeah, the coke thing has us organizers puzzled tbh. There WAS a coke truck at the race finish. As turned left after the timing mat and went down the road, the water, coke and Energade was all there. We DID NOT have it at the racecourse as we relied on vendors for that. So, we are really confused as to how some people did not get coke....unless we ran out... 2. Ice : because of the extreme heat we had to limit ice I'm afraid. We actually had a bakkie come to the racecourse and fetch ice to take BACK to some water points because of the heat. Usually this tis not a problem, however. Our apologies! 3. Yes, point well taken! I will chat with our marketing team and make an alternate plan 4. The venue is owned/run by Cape Racing so we don't have any control and catering is outsourced so we are restricted. However, we will def raise this point for next race! thanks for constructive input!
  21. Many thanks for your kind words! The seeding is always contentious and we hear what you guys are saying. Unfortunately our hands are TIED as the PPA/RaceTec/CTCT are in control. We will try again for next year, that is the best we can offer.... I am a very keen cyclist myself and I would LOVE to see the finish back up at the top of Odendaal but I think I will then be taken to the public square be flogged by the masses...! We have to strike a balance between making the event fun and attractive for the masses but also make it appealing for the $ group.... We are the 1st and ONLY race to use the Kalbaskraal section and we we had excellent feedback as it makes the 100km route more accessible for most people. Our challenge is still the 3 narrow bridges at the end of Kalbaskraal and we did get it better this year but that remains a downside of this route.
  22. watch this space..... 😉
  23. Hi The sprint at 75km was my idea (I am a keen TdF and cycling fan!) This was done to replace the KOM because Vissershok was not usable for another year. The reason I placed it there was because it was on fairly deserted road (for safety as there will be flaring) and also the sprint does end at the top of very slight "climb. For logistical (and safety as I said) reasons we cannot put it on the road to Malmesbury. However, we are always open to input 🙂
  24. Interestingly a mate of mine who has been riding races for many many years said the same of a certain group (not B-batch as far as I know). He said this was one of the more poorly behaved group of cyclists he has seen for a long..... Anyway, as long as we did OUT best and YOU enjoyed it!
  25. We pride ourselves in our marshals (who are all volunteer parents!) and yes, they are superb! Unfortunately, the vendors are all external and we have no control over HOW they do things but can control WHO we use. I will relay this information back to my committee. thanks for your input!
