  1. Shall I give you my number now? Since, unless you start before me, you WILL pass me
  2. If you're in, or around, Johannesburg (or Pretoria) - I use Solomons (Pretoria North or Woodmead).
  3. So I finally got a reply to my E-Mails - it appears as though they sent to my home address in Canada (even though I gave them a local address, and didn't pay for international postage!) - I'm not sure they'll ever turn up in Canada since I don't have a 'tracking number'!
  4. I quite enjoyed the Argus 'Tour of Storms' this year - I guess it's a combination of madness and the fact that I've not done it before, so had nothing to compate it to!
  5. I ordered (and paid) 'way back' with a promise of delivery 'from mid October' I've E-Mailed them twice, and they haven't even bothered to reply I've seen someone wearing one, so I know some have been received So who received theirs before the end of October
  6. Fantistic Chucky - and 'big man' for Ken to contribute (he's certainly gone up in my estimations - doesn't nullify the statements made, but a very good justure for a very worthy charity). On the subject of 'anonymous' donations, you don't have to donate under your 'hub name' if you want to stay anonymous
  7. How many 'Hubbers' are there? If the 95 who have viewed the thread donated just R50, that's R4,750. If we say that there are 400+ 'Hubbers', that's R20k+ - and only R50 a piece.
  8. The Trance is quite 'tall' (in my opinion) - quite high BB At 5'6" ish sommething else might feel a bit more manageable
  9. If you take the 94.7 with a 6-hour 'cut-off' (after the last start) say 100km in 6 hours, that's an average of 16.66 km/h The Argus is 110km with a 7-hour 'cut-off' 110km in 7 hours, that's an average of 15.72 km/h Bear in mind that this is 'total' so, if you stop, your moving average needs to be higher. I would say that you should aim, as a minimum, for an average of 18km/h
  10. My first 'race' was last years 94.7 - and I dragged my 115kg round it on a full suspension mountain bike - so an RC3000 will be more than adequate. I too was hooked, and did the Argus this year - I bought a road bike for that - though, with the wind, a MTB may have been a better option. As others said, you'll not break any speed records at first, but a 100k 'race' is perfectly feasible for your first race.
  11. Though the kids cycle challenge is 20 minutes + 1 lap, following it with a 20km race the day after, for a 7 year old, would probably be viewed as child cruelty! But I agree that it's difficult trying to find a 'free weekend' these days! Good luck - it's nice to see more 'family friendly' events - it's good to get the kids into it young
  12. That's the day after the kids 94.7 Cycle Challenge! On another day, I would consider it, but not (with my lad in the 20km) after he's done the Kids Cycle Challenge on the Saturday - it seems like a little coordination of the dates would have been good!
  13. I have the CrMo version (still pretty light) and they seem to work fine - If I'm not mistaken, there is a 'suggerted' rider weight limit on the Titanium ones - which would make me a little concerned about the robustness.

You can go 12-27 in (as far as I know) 105, Ultegra, and Dura Ace. If you want to go to 11-27, it has to be the mega-expensive 7900 Dura Ace. Where are you based?
  15. I was at Dischem Woodmead a couple of weeks ago, and they have virtually no Wasp products (vanilla gel was the best I found - and I have to say it's not my favourite!) In addition, what they had looked like someone had played soccer with (I guess that is why it was left!). There was 'row after row' of other products, at eye level on the outer shelves - the Wasp product was tucked at low level on a middle aisle - I would have never seen it unless I was specifically looking for it!levett2009-10-07 03:42:22
  16. As Thug said - really good frame, and even better considering the cost. The only 'issue' with a 29er (in my opinion) is the weight of the wheels and tyres - though, as Thug said, you can get wheels that rival the weight of 26er's (for a price). I'm 100% happy with mine (coupled with a lot of bits I bought on here) and would recommend the 29er, and the On-One Scandal, route.
  17. The forum where I found the info is: http://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb/showthread.php?t=214458 <?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
  18. Does anyone know where I can get a couple of Seoul Semiconductor SSC P4's locally? I've found an article about relpacing the LED in my Blackburn X6 lights (seems very easy) and using the SSC P4's - therefore I'd like to get just a couple locally. Cheers, Dave. Seoul Semiconductor P4, a new power LED with an efficacy of 100 lm/W at 350 mA
  19. If you come from the UK, it is a 'requirement' to have the front brake on the left (or at least it used to be) - hence a bike supplied from the UK will brobably be 'setup' with the front on the left. Swapping over was not a problem with 'cable brakes', but disc prakes are usually 'handed', so you need to specify which way you want them.
  20. Take a picture and post it on here with the title - Cyclists behaving ..... well!!!!! and we'll see how many 'hits' it gets, and how many pages the thread runs to levett2009-10-01 01:02:12
  21. I thought that all 10-speed cassettes (shimano) fitted to 9-speed hubs required the spacer and that it was only some Dura-Ace hubs are 10-speed specific. I think that, almost, all shimano road hubs care compatible with 8, 9, and 10 speed cassettes. JB will be along (hopefully) with the definitive answer.
