  1. thanks Harry, and since you are starting a few minutes after us, i should be at the bottom of Fox hill when you catch up to me.... you know what to do, right hand on my back and start pushing...it's only about 12km or so...
  2. Thanks Slowpoke!! We've been getting some incredible donations/sponsorships for our little herd! 32GI is sponsoring our energy drinks/bottles and chews for the herd Spur is donating vouchers to grab a burger at the finish line. We have The Toy Factory Shop donating a R1000 in support of all the Cows taking on the challenge - this will be presented to CHOC at the finish. Kim Photography has been taking loads of photos for various publications for free and has a special running at the moment where they offers photo shoots and R250 is donated back to CHOC. so we are incredibly chuffed and so grateful that big companies actually give back!! Less then two weeks tills Shova!! whoop whoop
  3. Hey all!! So thrilled as I have reached my target on given.gain for the Shova! THANKS THANKS THANKS and then some!! Now I need yet another favour for a special cycling buddy. Ben started road cycling a few months ago with our club and showed incredible dedication and determination and went from super unfit to super fit in no time.. Our Club members got together and a mtb was donated to Ben and he also took to this like a duck to water, making us look stupid in the process. Even though Ben is kicking some serious butt, he has remained helpful and super humble! Then Ben spotted us in our unique cow kit, enquired what CHOC was all about, wanted to know all about the very first KZN Herd launch and immediately told me he wanted to become part of the herd!! “I want to give back”…were his simple but powerful words to me. So together we set up his fundraising plea letter which he will be sending out, but in the meantime some of you are perhaps willing to give Ben’s fundraising drive a small push in the right direction and donate a few Rands towards the amazing cause and help Ben to give back! www.bensthupha.givengain.org
  4. Awesome!! Yes, get the earlier bus - you don't want to be stressed out before the actual event Have loads of fun and if you see any of us CHOC cows along the route, remember to mooooo loudly!!
  5. Eish, that's hectic. I hope I'm wrong but i think the cut off times apply to everyone. Perhaps mail the organisers: melissa@amashova.co.za
  6. Hi Fabs, They want you there about 45 mins before your start so that you can find your batch etc. It is not big like Argus/94.7 so very easy to get in your group and I have never had any problems. I am not sure about the bus service to PMB - I normally drive to the Midlands Mall in PMB and then cycle to the start - 10 mins. Car is safe and it's a short warm up before the race too! Just need to organise a lift back to fetch your car in the pm!
  7. R840.00 to raise and i have reached the target!!! so happy and so grateful - thank you!! you know who you are
  8. Good luck and keep us posted and big hug to that beautiful little soul x

  12. No doubt about it!! Best kit for so many reasons and quality gear definitely being one of them!!
  13. Hi Frank! I asked the same question for a friend but unfortunately CHOC/Cows let me know that they wont have a charity group next year at Argus. For the exact details please email: daisy@thecows.co.za and she will explain the reasons.... (sadly it's all about money)
  14. she sends her regards back and is wondering if you've managed to stay on your bike of late?...
  15. Is Pop - aka The Speed Bump - also riding? aka The Speed Bump - love it!! she is riding in club colours in the u16 division - cycling the 65km (restricted distances for the girls) so hold thumbs for her please. She is going to ask the Club if she can at least wear her CHOC helmet cover and gloves - which I am sure they will have no problem with as they know how important CHOC is to her! She is making a banner to welcome Team CHoc home over the finish line to 'do her bit' as she put it.
  16. Funds raised so far R2660! happy happy dance

  23. Hi All, I am sure some of you know of our continuous fundraising efforts for CHOC. This year the Amashova will have its very first official CHOC Cow herd at the start line! So so exciting! The best part about this is that I will ride with a very special dad who recently lost his beautiful little 3 year old to cancer. Choc in Durban contacted me to assist with getting him a bike, gear and most importantly, cycling as he wants to cycle the Shova in honour of his son. All of that has been sorted and he has been training with us like crazy! I made a promise to ride every km of the way with this special dad and come hell or high water, we are going to finish no matter how long it takes. In order to be able to join the herd I am busy fundraising and would love some support for the cause from the hubbers! please can you make a small donation to this incredibly worthwhile cause by going to: www.irisvarty1.givengain.org Really appreciate the support as always!
  24. Hey Slowbee - yes she is!! She raises funds throughout the year so her given.gain account is permanently open which is great. She has managed to get a food donation to CHOC in Durban for over R4000 which she is delivering on Friday. People are incredibly generous - very humbling!! Lucky for her, she is U16category, and she only has to do the 65km this year so it's just mom who is going to be doing a solo struggle!! you joining us Slowbee?
  25. I'll be there!! My milestone is to finish before the cut off times!!
