    GCN+

Excuse my ignorance. How do you subscribe to GCN+ ? I cant find it in the Google Play Store. Want to download to Tablet. Also, is Half price for a full year or just for month of Feb. Thanks
  2. Leon going for G Edward, will have a great night at Sheila's. Angela's day seems to have improved, now she is with next group. Rodger has the after burners on and all but caught his companions, well done.
  3. New addition, Mike Woolnough. Will keep Jacques and co on their toes.
  4. Possible Contenders this year ?? I see Graham Bird is in batch 1. Does that mean he is not racing? Otherwise could up there. Nigel Payne looked lean and mean at Joberg2C having already done Epic. If he decides to race (indicated to me he won't) he could klap it. Also Andrew Blackurn as a outside bet if in the mood ??
  5. Has anyone got suggestions for the best Cycle computer for RASA.(non GPS of course). I can't find any with Dist1 and Dist2 as well as ODO apart from Cateye.
  6. I have two "queries" that maybe the forum can help with. (Get the ball rolling) 1. Has anyone entertained the idea of doing RASA on a so called road "gravel" bikes that can take 30-40 mm wide tyres. Such as Specialized Roubeux or Cannondale Slate. They must be nice and light and 1x or 2x gearing can be fitted that is identical to MTB. Disc Brakes. I'm sure would be great for district roads. Not sure about the technical stuff? Thoughts? 2. I use Cateye Adventure speedo at present for logging distance. Like, because has Distance 1 and 2 so can zero independantly, which is great as you then get splits zeroed (Dst 1) as per narrative and the other (Dist2) keeps the total for the day. Problem is numbers are small and I'm getting long arm syndrome with my sight. Any Suggestions? What do you use. Thanks
  7. Anyone have advice on gearing for RASA. 2x 10/11 or 1x 10/11. 11-42 cluster Old bike still had 3x so plenty of "granny" options.
  8. spare gear cable, derailer hanger, cleats, stans,+ all the spares you would take on a multi day event such as Sani2C
  9. I have load split. Remember on balance to Rhodes you spend much more time in the saddle than pushing/portaging bike.
  10. Thanks for input. So if possible try to do Toekomst/Bucklands to Hadley in a Day. Any idea on time/km from Toekomst to Bucklands and then to Hadley.
  11. Anyone been through Stettyn's this past few months? Any idea how thick/overgrown bush is this year for RASA. Same goes for Grootrivier into Cumbria.
  12. Winter has hit the Barkly/Rhodes area. Mountains grey/white this morning. Pack winter woolies. Perfect timing for Freedom Challenge. Good Luck to all riding. Have a blast.
  13. Any advice out there? I know competitors take all sort of concoctions with regard to preventative medication to avoid illness. From multi-vits to Probiotics to "horse muti". Also a general Antibiotic in case of illness. What do you Guys swear by??? I have taken the Multi-Vits & Vit C, and Slowmag for cramping. I noticed alot of competitors got sick this year so want to try to avoid it myself.
  14. My two cents worth on maps: A thing I did which I found most useful was to cut and paste the narrative onto the maps at the right places. It helps one "visulize" the route as well as know each map pretty well by the end. Also means narrative is with the map and not two seperate things to confuse you. A lot of PT (many hours) to do, but helped alot. I also complimented maps with Google Earth printouts of "tricky" parts. I see however you can get these with the maps now, which is great (Thanks Chris). The moral of the story is the more familiar you are with the maps and narrative the better prepared you are. Its surprising how much one actually remembers once you are on the ground if you have done your "homework".
