  1. What a great race! But you have to feel for Ferrari.... luck and 50/50 calls just not going their way this season. I kind of get the feeling that the stewards erred on the side of caution on the LeClerc/ Verstappen incident. To me it was a bit too forceful, and for consistency should have been penalised. But I don't think they wanted a repeat of the Vettel/Ham incident where the first one over the line did not win. That was very very unpopular and put a big dent in F1's popularity, and to have done it at Red Bulls home race in front of all those dutch supporters, would have been another very unpopular one. And so nice to see Merc, especially Ham struggling!
  2. Fossil fuels are by far the worst, and nuclear still the safest https://www.newscientist.com/article/mg20928053-600-fossil-fuels-are-far-deadlier-than-nuclear-power/ https://www.giss.nasa.gov/research/briefs/kharecha_02/
  3. Excellent show, but it was over-dramatised. Apparently quite a few scientific and historical inaccuracies, but I'm sure that was not what the Russians were unhappy about. Probably more the political interference, denial etc.?
  4. Really looking forward to this!!
  5. Apparently from Zim https://www.iol.co.za/motoring/industry-news/watch-cyclist-teaches-wrong-way-driver-a-lesson-26246859
  6. I should have provided the full article. Source below https://www.fiaformulae.com/en/news/2016/june/insight-formula-e-s-emission-free-charging/
  7. They don't use the local electrical infrastructure to recharge the cars at any of the races. As Formula E wants to play a key role in advancing the technology surrounding electric car ownership not just the cars themselves, the bold decision was taken that the charging of the racing cars had to come from a sustainable source. To this end, a British company called Aquafuel Research Ltd was commissioned to build a pair of mobile generators that could be packed inside a shipping container and freighted to each race. But what makes these generators special is that they run on a fuel that is virtually emission free – glycerine. “What we do is provide an electric power and distribution system in a very controlled way so that the cars can be charged in an hour in a very safe and reliable way that is fair to all the teams,” says Paul Day, the CEO of Aquafuel. “The really beautiful thing about it is that we do that with our own patented renewable energy generators using a really clean fuel – clean in terms of carbon emissions and clean in terms of the local air quality, very low in NOx emissions, very low in particulate emissions – there’s no smoke.”
  8. That was the last I saw as well. It would be really great if they came.
  9. Confirmed, or still just talk?
  10. It's a tough one, but I agree. I think trying to overtake might have been the better option. Also had a good laugh when he moved the boards, a subtle F.U to the stewards. Surprised he hasn't been reprimanded or fined for that.
  11. Then he still would've come 2nd. To win, they would need to ask themselves what was more likely: - give up the place but then overtake Ham, or; - keep the place and try and extend the lead by over 5 sec
  12. I think because F1 racing is different from other sports. Most, in fact all, commentators, ex-racing drivers and drivers of other series thoughts on the incident that I have heard and read have said that it was a racing incident. When accidents happen in racing and a driver crashes into or even takes out another driver, and it is seen as unintentional, it is considered a driving incident, and the "culprit" does not get punished. It's just part of racing. From what I can remember, and correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the Verstappen incident was clearly intentional.
  13. Read that. It's easy for the stewards to dissect with slow motion, but to think he did all of that (gain control of the car twice, at those speeds in such little space and time) and then still have time to look in the mirror to see where Ham was and decide to block him?? By the time he had regained control, Ham was already braking.
  14. That sudden right turn I believe was counter steer as the rear wheels went over the curb and regained traction back onto the track.
  15. Actually a lot of the comments I've seen from Merc fans online were also disagreeing with the penalty. I'm done with F1, it's going to take a lot for me start to watch again. It's becoming a farce! And the very little respect I had for Hamilton is totally gone, with his fake sympathy and acting on the podium. Reminded me of Schumacher and Barrichelo in Austria 2002, when Schumie pulled Barrichelo onto the top step only after hearing all the boos. Loved it when Vettel went and switched the number boards in front of the cars in parc ferme.
  16. That looks like it was filmed using a number of runs. From the overhead from 1:05 the F1 car is always ahead of the Tesla, but from the onboard at 1:27 it was actually behind the Tesla for a bit
  17. Just as stupid as flat-earthers, only more dangerous
  18. Agreed, by far!
  19. That was hectic! It's insane what those poor guys went through
  20. Will do. There is also a nice little featurette after the credits (at least episode 2 - I need to go back and check if there was one after episode 1) that gives a bit of background info and making of the shows.
  21. Started watching Chernobyl. So far....excellent!
  22. Definitely not my favourite part of that episode - it was a bit cheesy and could have been done much better, as it had little references to earlier episodes in the series.
  23. Dammit man, just 3 or so episodes more could really have made a big difference. Is it Star Wars? They better not cock that up then
  24. I disagree with the "Disney" ending reference. if it was Disney, Dany and Jon would be living happily ever after ruling the 7 kingdoms peacefully with their kids and dragons and everybody singing Kumbaya. When Ned Stark was killed in Season 1 and after the Red Wedding, I think a happy ending was always going to be doubtful. Look, I was too a bit underwhelmed, as I was probably also expecting a bit of a hollywood ending. I have had some time to digest it, and I think where everybody ended up on the show is fitting to an extent. The main problem though is the shortened seasons, and not so much the writing. As far as I know, the writers consulted George RR Martin extensively since Season 5/6. But this shortened and rushed Season didn't allow enough time for a proper story arc and character development. The ending of GOT, no matter what they did, was never going to please everyone.
  25. The peeps have been pretty good on here so far, and generally stick to the rule to only start discussing on the Tuesday. With that, this will be my last visit to this thread until tomorrow, just in case
