  1. Excellent video on explaining and understanding the image of a black hole https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zUyH3XhpLTo
  2. Riiigghht, mkay
  3. Sorry, wasn't sure if you were. I've been reading way to many ignorant and downright stupid comments on some of the Facebook feeds to this.
  4. I really hope you are joking, like Stefmeister was above
  5. It's an image from 55 million light years away (the equivalent of photographing an orange on the face of the moon), of something that by definition cannot be seen....
  6. Just a little more on the black hole photo, I don't think enough people realise the significance of the image, and how difficult it is to photograph. Here is a TED Talk from over a year ago by Dr Katie Bouman, one of the members of the team, who created the algorithm making the image possible, explaining it in more detail. It's truly fascinating stuff https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BIvezCVcsYs
  7. Here it is... https://www.nasa.gov/mission_pages/chandra/news/black-hole-image-makes-history A black hole and its shadow have been captured in an image for the first time, a historic feat by an international network of radio telescopes called the Event Horizon Telescope (EHT). A black hole is an extremely dense object from which no light can escape. Anything that comes within a black hole’s “event horizon,” its point of no return, will be consumed, never to re-emerge, because of the black hole’s unimaginably strong gravity. By its very nature, a black hole cannot be seen, but the hot disk of material that encircles it shines bright. Against a bright backdrop, such as this disk, a black hole appears to cast a shadow. The stunning new image shows the shadow of the supermassive black hole in the center of Messier 87 (M87), an elliptical galaxy some 55 million light-years from Earth. This black hole is 6.5 billion times the mass of the Sun. Catching its shadow involved eight ground-based radio telescopes around the globe, operating together as if they were one telescope the size of our entire planet.
  8. Speaking of the Lion King... the new trailer for the remake is out https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uAjn6ILb4vg
  9. So damn nice! https://www.pinkbike.com/news/review-forbiddens-druid-high-pivot-trail-bike.html I think this may now be on top of my "if I won the lotto and could buy just one bike" list.
  10. I think Vettel may still have a contract to 2020, so maybe from 2021. However, if Vettel carries on like he did at Bahrain and during the second half of the 2018 season, then I would also replace him for 2020. Whether it is with Schumacher, I guess it depends on how well he does in F2. What I read, and what makes me like Leclerc even more, was that when he was behind Vettel at the start of the Bahrain race, he ignored orders to overtake Vettel. He was told to hold for at least 2 laps, but instead almost immediately overtook him. That takes balls, when it's only your 2nd race for Ferrari, and to ignore orders. Good thing he pulled it off! But shows he is a racer, and not going to take being a wingman like Bottas.
  11. To also think that was his first time in that car (or any modern F1 car for that matter?), and they lost a few hours of testing to rain, it is very impressive. Headline on F1 news: Verstappen heads Schumacher in testing. Comment on FB: 1994 called, it wants its headline back
  12. Got it through Takealot (R1499). The box only has 1 USB port (so if you want to expand the memory and say, plug in a controller/keyboard etc, that may be an issue)
  13. I don't think the X96 is Google Certified, which means some Apps might not work properly on it as far as I know. I was also shopping for an android box recently, and looked at the X96, but got the Xiaomi Mi S box instead, which is Google Certified. It has Netflix pre-installed and a dedicated Netflix shortcut on the remote (although not using Netflix atm so can't give you any review in that regard). Been very happy with it so far.
  14. I can't really help you, but also interested. I also ditched DSTV, but still watch through the DSTV Now app
  15. How great is this. Mick Schumacher testing the Ferrari F1 today in Bahrain. Let's hope he can follow in his dads footsteps. https://www.motorsport.com/f1/news/schumacher-ferrari-bahrain-first-test/4363480/
  16. Man, you got to feel for Charles. Did everything right (except his start), and to have the balls and skill to race and overtake Vettel was awesome to see. I know who I'm rooting for the rest of the season. My patience with Vettel is running out very quickly.
  17. The Santa Cruz Megatower - 29er, 160mm travel
  18. Ha ha, fair enough
  19. Thanks man, but also referring to a lot of your other posts, especially on the hardtail thread. You post a lot of rad bikes, but I never know what they are.
  20. Hairy, you gotta start putting names/links in your posts so that we know what bikes we looking at. Pretty please
  21. New Endgame trailer
  22. Whhaatt? Keanu's acting aside (although it could have been worse, Will Smith was supposed to have taken the role), I have never had the same feeling from any other movie when walking out of the cinema. It was just mind-blowing (granted I was 20 at the time), and it is still in my Top 5 movies ever.
  23. What a big loss to F1.
  24. Really enjoyed this. Alex Honnold's Ted Talk on his free solo of El Cap
