  1. Thanks for your honesty re this product. Still deciding and I'll definitely have a look at your deals!
  2. Good point.... however I'd like the added convenience, even if theres somewhat of a compromise wrt outright hr accuracy. Also it can be used for other sports and as a daily activity tracker.
  3. Thanks all for your inputs. Was really great to hear your experiences /views. Seems like there aren't major functionality issues. Was waiting for the "avoid-at-all-costs" type of posts but there were none...lol. So I'll keep it high on my list. Thank you
  4. Thanks guys for your feedback. Good to hear of your positive experiences. I was mainly concerned about difficulties obtaining and maintaining GPS signal, as well as some people reporting very inaccurate hr readings....
  5. Hi all Looking at this particular watch as it has exactly what I'm looking for in a sports watch. Would appreciate your comments on this device especially from those who currently own the same/similar model. I wish to use it mostly for cycling. I know Garmin makes better products but they seem to be double or more in price. All positive input will be highly appreciated. Thx
  6. Thanks... I was sure someone would give some clarity on the name. My bad. Anyway ja...the guys a fraud
  7. So this morning "Roelof1" or "Roelofse1" (cant be too sure) in "Murraysburg", posted an ad for a Reba for R3000. Communicated on sms and all was fine until I told him I'll send a buddy to pay cash and collect this afternoon. Then all went quite and the ad was promptly removed.... beware!
  8. I'm running a flat bar on my Spez Sector/Diverge. FSA road crank, Deore 10sp cassette and chain. XT shifters, XT rear derailleur, Sora front derailleur. Sram XO disc brakes. Doesnt miss a beat! Thanks to my lbs.
  9. I believe Cane Creek make an adapter that will allow you to use a tapered fork on your frame. Best to get some advise from anyone who's used this.
  10. Thanks Charles. I'll check it out too...
  11. Thanks Henryfeather. I have bought from her recently for my own bike. Good deal but I didn't get free goo...????
  12. Thank you for the offer Louis. I've sent you a pm.
  13. You are so right. Pricing on good tyres is just off the charts. Even with dismal exchage rates, why does the cycling industry wish to cripple the very people that give it reason to exist? I fail to understand how a bicycle tyre can cost a grand... Maybe they contain Myrrh.... as Jeremy Clarkson would put it.
  14. Thanks guys for all your input. Much appreciated. Will go check out Sportsman's for those Chaoyangs. Cheers
  15. Need some tough 29er tyres on a tight budget. Not too bothered about weight, tubeless... just looking to run with tubes and a good puncture resistance. Cajees have something for R150. Anyone know about these? All advice appreciated. Thanks
  16. Thanks for the input guys. If anyones knows if caps are available for this Giant hub, please let me know. Much appreciated.
  17. Hi all. Can anyone please offer advise/suggestions on converting this Giant thru-axle hub to qr?? Possibly an insert as mentioned above. Thanks.
  18. Had a rigid carbon fork on my mtb and found the feel to be very harsh. To the extent that my gravel bike on 30c tyres felt much, much more forgiving. Needless to say the shock went back on. I've seen the more slender type of mtb rigid fork that resembles that of a road bike. I suspect that these might give a far more comfortable ride. If I'm not mistaken, I think you can pick up one at Redhub. Lauf would be a nice option, just that it costs a fortune.
  19. That's what I said on page one of this thread. ....
  20. If you're on the smooth stuff 99,5% of the time, have you considered slicks? Good range of widths and tread, cheap and will last forever and just about puncture proof! Oh, also about zero maintenance!
  21. Thanks for the responses guys!
  22. Hi all. Looking to hire a bike in Somerset West this weekend. Any recommendations on where to get a bike? Thanks guys
  23. I'm not disputing the merits of a bike that's engineered for specific applications. ... and they are awesome machines. (I own a Hardtail, Dual sus, and gravel/road bike). However there must be a considerable proportion of the cycling fraternity that for practical / affordability reasons can only have one bike, and will be happy with a bike that doesn't really excel on any one surface in particular. So by inference there has to be a considerable demand for such a bike. All I'm saying is that works against the interests of the bike industry.
  24. Bike manufacturers seem to be determined to make mtbs less and less suitable for road application by the use of 1 x gearing. ( I'm sure there will be a few people saying they manage just fine on the road with a 32t chainring). This will push more and more cyclists to get a dedicated road bike. More bikes, more parts, more profit... am I right??
  25. Sorry Myles I don't understand your original comment... not even a little
