  1. Ok.... thanks for the reply. Will those GRX fd's be compatible with my Ultegra shifter? Also,(and i know I'm pushing it), do you think they might work with my 50-34 crank?
  2. Really? Please if you can let me know the details of your drivetrain. You can WhatsApp pics to me on 0844551212. Much appreciate the input. Sean
  3. Hi all. This build has been rather frustrating for me... So I have an Ultegra R8020 drivetrain that i want to pair with a 50-34 crank. Apparently this frame can only take a top pull FD! An MTB FD will work BUT that wont handle the 50t chainring size neither will it be compatible with the shifter!#@%#$$ Can somebody please advise how I can get this crank and front shifter to work on this frame? Pleeeez....
  4. Lovely bike. How does it compare (if at all) to the FARR steel bike?
  5. Lovely bike... hows does it compare to the FARR steel frame?
  6. So yesterday I found this machine on offer for what I thought was a bargain at a reduced price of R3300.00... Wasn't actually shopping for a coffee machine but I thought at this price it was worth a gamble. Would appreciate thoughts on this unit please, especially if you own/have owned one. Philips 4000 series automatic espresso machine. Bean to cup. Ceramic grinder. Milk carafe. Thanks chaps. (I think there's one more available at PnP Woodmead)
  7. Awesome! Any idea how it rides compared to their Chromo frame ??? It's a burning question for me as I'm busy building one. Edit : Doh... you just got it, but if and when you can.....
  8. Thanks. What are your main protein sources then?
  9. Good advice. But it can get tricky when you trying control sugar levels too.
  10. Thank you for the response. I'm no expert on this topic but there's a significant number of knowledgeable health experts that are anti HFLC diets. As ChrisF said, lots of conflicting information out there. Just wish there was greater consensus on this very important matter. I'm very tempted to go HFLC now though.
  11. Thanks for the reply. Please keep us in the loop on the progress with cannabis. PS: I see the bomb is contra-indicated for diabetics. Any idea specifically why? Thanks!
  12. Been on a high-protein, low carb diet for months now in an effort to lower blood sugar. Been largely successful and I've lost 13kgs with very little exercise. However as a result of all the proteins, I've developed chronic gout. Not only have I not been able to ride for many weeks, but it's really affected my every day life. I've taken the regular medication indicated for this ailment but with very limited success. I've also cut back on the protein intake. Would appreciate any advice on this issue wrt alternative medication/ remedies.... please... desperate. TIA
  13. Besides a substantial weight-saving, are these expected to provide a smoother ride over the standard steel fork?
  14. I know this is subjective but the painted FARR frame is very tasteful and considered. I guess you need to see it in the flesh.
  15. So with a budget of about 15k, what's the best machine out there? Or is the answer buried somewhere in this thread? Heard Jura is well regarded? Would like a bean-to-cup machine that can do two cups at a time. With built-in milk jug (or is this over-rated?). Great coffee and reliability are priority. Calling on the infinite wisdom of the coffee fanatics on Hubland. Thank you! PS: Not a fan of Nespresso!
  16. I'm finally getting a frame!!!!!...Yay!! Would like to view in JHB for sizing proposes. Sprocket and Jack are out of stock.... PM sent Thanks for the special!
  17. Agreed on the 2nd hand option, but at this price point are buyers really concerned about the other points you raise?....just asking. I reckon a lot of people just want to ride around the neighbourhood and the odd dirt road.
  18. Wow..... Stunning! What would I need to budget roughly for a frame like that?? I'm looking to upgrade from my Specialized Secteur (now part of the Diverge model range I think ). It's alu with Carbon fork (Zertz) and flatbar conversion. On 32c tyres it has a really damped feel and rides beautifully. Just wondering if I will be going backwards or getting marginal gains on an 'upgrade'. Thinking of Farr, Carbon Diverge, Silex, Siablo, Anyroad....Would like more upright geo, prefer hydro brakes, 2 x11, Strong wheelset, flared bars.....Input anyone?
  19. What are the thoughts on this particular bike?? http://cyclefactory.co.za/shop/bicycles/merida-silex-400-grave/
  20. But why did you tile the ceiling ??
  21. One look and I had to buy it.....More hardcore than single speed.....
  22. Had a rigid carbon fork on my mtb and found the feel to be very harsh. To the extent that my gravel bike on 30c tyres felt much, much more forgiving. Needless to say the shock went back on. I've seen the more slender type of mtb rigid fork that resembles that of a road bike. I suspect that these might give a far more comfortable ride. If I'm not mistaken, I think you can pick up one at Redhub. Lauf would be a nice option, just that it costs a fortune.
