  1. I ordered a custom wheelset from CRC, mavic rims, no problem, they will ship it if it is a custom wheel build.
  2. I'm quite happy with the way the race was organised. The start was maybe a bit hectic and the end was a challenge, but the water points were well managed and we had no problems with the marshals. One thing I will never do again is to switch to some other sports drink for a race. I won't mention the product, but I wasn't feeling well at 40km's! Still managed a 3:21 after emptying this stuff from my bottles just before hekpoort and switched to plain water!
  3. Cool, will be on the lookout. We'll be on the black raleigh with cyclelab kit. ( Looking like MTB'ers with our hydration packs )
  4. Tandem, 97km. Looking forward to it!
  5. We are using MTB shoes on our road tandem. The shoes do have stiff soles, so very comfortable. And absolutely love the hydration packs as well, very handy on a tandem if you are doing long distances with only 3 bottle cages on the bike
  6. I find that 99% of the time people are great at Groenkloof. I don't mind to go slower when there is a family in front of me, and will pass when it is safe and when they actually give me the opportunity to pass, else go very early in the morning or later in the afternoon when there are less people. Groenkloof is one of the best places to go cycling A while back we took the kids with, but I prefer to keep them on the jeep tracks and teach them about staying on the left side of the road. They are only 7 & 9 years old, so won't take them on the technical singletracks yet
  7. If I remember correctly they opened during the last quarter of 2009, so probably little less than 2 years now.
  8. I experienced the same at Centurion Cajees. Never had bad dealings with them. Bought my tandem there about two years ago at a price well below the suggested retail. Francois, the salesman who helped me back then still remembers me when I walk in there, always asking whether we still enjoy the tandem:) Bought a suspension fork from them recently, gave me discount without me having to bargain and the price was unbeatable. Can't say whether their bike servicing is good, but I will buy from them anytime when the price it right
  9. Don't go for less than Tiagra! I got Sora on my indoor trainer, hate those shifters but it works fine for an indoor trainer.
  10. Interesting info! I do not add sugar when eating future life, it's already sweet enough as is, but I guess with sugar added it will also mess up the GI?
  11. I also battled with ITB. Went to a physio, got some stretching exercises (and PAIN!), did the "rolling on noodle" thing, done it for months with no improvement at all! I then stopped all stretching, and did the following on the indoor trainer: Warm up, then take turns and cycle with one leg (unclip the other, can put your unclipped foot on the indoor trainer, but just be careful not to put it between the spokes!). Try to cycle smoothly (pedal in circles). Do it for 1 minute per leg then cycle easy for 5 minutes with both legs. You can do this in between other intervals, but try to do 3x sets in one session. Start with lower resistance and increase it as your legs get stronger. I also tried to keep my cycling sessions shorter than 1 hour for a few weeks. If you have an indoor trainer, try this, it is anyway good for your pedal stroke and it will improve your "weaker" leg. With the ITB I could not cycle for 1 hour without feeling the pain in my knee, now I can do 3 hours with no problems:) There are so many causes for ITB, so probably better to go to someone who really knows the causes & treatment. Good luck, hope you get a solution so that you can enjoy cycling again soon
