  1. I would second the DMR V12's. Amazing properly flat pedals!! I have used the KORE Rivera pedals as well as the Giant pedals and the only issue I find with them, and the DMR V8s, is the raised center section which takes away from your grip on the pedal. (That's why I say the V12 is properly flat) The only pedal I have ridden that beats the V12 for grip are the OneUp Composite pedals...AMAZING!!! Check out TrailTech cycles, you can buy online from them. http://trailtechcycles.co.za/product/composite-pedal-oneup-components/ R746 as previously mentioned
  2. 1st off, his national had the most entries of any national race so far as confirmed on Sunday. 2nd, Posting a gravity event under the events page on bike hub is pointless, it gets lost within minutes with all the road/xc races. Sadly the admins wont allow us to post our events separately in our Gravity forum. (tried multiple times only to have them deleted every time). Maybe they should categorise the events section? 3rd... The vibe was amazing on Sunday! Had a blast! Never seen that much support along a track before! Here's hoping Haka will host it's own DH Series!!!
  3. They didn't charge extra for a day license either and as Frosty said, it doesn't appear under the CSA calendar so no need to worry about it.
  4. I would go for the 661 Comp personally. Extremely comfortable and even better value for money!! Fits nice and snug and breathes well enough to use for enduro too. Personally not a huge fan of Bell, the fit and prices usually don't work for me compared to the 661. But that is my 2c. BUT...if the Bell is in the same price range as the 661 and it has MIPS, go for the bell. Safety first! And MIPS is worth it! But it's down to fit and budget and what will be the best protection!
  5. Wow dude! NICE! Glad you healed up and are coming back to ride it again! May I ask where and how it happened? So glad you not like some other guy(can't remember his name) who cried and moaned and blamed everyone cos he fell and broke his hip during the 1st Juma and would never ride again and blah blah blah... You sir are a true Mountain Biker! Hope you have an amazing day out there!
  6. The 22km is cool...but all the fun features are on the 54km! I did it last year, nearly died due to lack of fitness...but had a massive jol! Doing it again this year but still with a major lack of fitness! Just doing it for fun so not concerned about walking hills and so on... plus my bike is not quite designed for climbing!
  7. 54km for me too! Love this event!!!
  8. And invest in a dropper post! That will change your life! Seeing that you are on a budget, check out /www.lynecomponents.com Awesome droppers for even more awesome prices! If you are in the PTA or JHB area, come join us at Hakahana sometime...Enduro at it's finest!
  9. I laughed a little too hard at this! Day made!
  10. To everyone who did NOT attend champs this past weekend.... YOU MISSED OUT!!! This was the best event for the year BY FAR!!! Meeting Wyn Masters was just a bonus...The trails, Race SP's... everything was so perfectly selected. It was the perfect weekend of riding!
  11. Used to...Upgraded to a larger frame (Still a Rocky though)...but spot on! Is this Mr Small?
  12. COME ON GUYS! GET ENTERING! THIS EVENT IS GONNA BE EPIC!
  13. and immediately log on to youtube to check viewing restrictions associated with a song....
  14. When your family and friends know, it doesn't matter who died...they'll still be dead after the ride/race
  15. Entries are open for Champs!!! Get in and get entered for an epic weekend of racing!!!!! http://www.hakahanatrails.co.za/
  16. Once you have had a taste of Haka, all else in GP seems mild and boring. Check it out this weekend and then enter for the Enduro champs in 2 weeks... 2 days of EPIC racing to look forward to!
  17. I ran the Ibex FR 2.25 on both front and rear and only had a bit of a issue with front grip in loose or pebbly type corners. Just upgraded the front to a Minion DHF 2.5 and still running the Ibex on the back (Center nobs are worn down nicely so it rolls nice and quick while still having the big side nobs mostly intact). So far it runs much better in the muddy flat corners and even the loamy flat corners. Gonna give it a test run at Haka this weekend!
  18. So after a few rides with this post I have to say that I am MASSIVELY impressed! Such smooth action...and the 1xLever upgrade is an awesome addition! Works like a dream! This post really lives up to the high expectations you guys have set with your customer service! After using the previous gen Giant Contact dropper and a Rockshox Reverb...I can honestly say that this Lyne dropper wins over them by far!
  19. Will upload one after the weekend... I reckon this dropper deserves to be photographed in it's natural habitat, Out on the trails!
  20. Good day fellow Hubbers! Here we go with my second rave of the day… I am seriously having the best week when it comes to anything bike related! This one goes out Rob Frost… The man behind Robs Bicycle Service Centre… Yesterday was the second time he has helped me out with my bike, and it is the second time my bike has come back better than new!! The first time was when I had managed to split my wheel into 3 pieces, couple hours later, Rob had it fixed and running better than ever. This time around, he fitted an internally routed dropper for me and fixed up my gears after I managed to smash my derailleur loose at the past weekend’s Hakahana Enduro … Again, the bike is back and better than new! This guy really knows his way around a bike!!! And his dedication to his work shows… He was up until after 2am this morning working on my bike! That is some serious dedication right there! Thank you Rob!! A champ on the bike and a champ with wrench! Check out his FB page: https://www.facebook.com/robsbicycleservicecentre/
  21. Good day fellow Hubbers! On the 16th of August, BikeHub posted a review on the Lyne Components dropper posts… I read the review and was quite blown away by the reaction they got. I went to their website and checked pricings and honestly couldn’t believe my eyes!! So after a couple days of consideration, I decided it’s time to get rid of the Reverb (I never did like the hydraulic control and the operation of it was always so forced and uncomfortable, and the maintenance costs are psychotic) and go back to a mechanical dropper… I sent a mail to Lyne Components on the 23rd of August and got a reply within minutes (this put them top of my list immediately), and after chatting to Derry, who answered every single question I had, my mind was made up… I didn’t want this post…I NEEDED IT! Sadly they were out of stock on the 30.9, 120mm internal routing and 1xLever upgrade so I asked Derry to please let me know when they will have stock… which he did on the 28th of August (NOTE: This was a SUNDAY!! And he even replied to my order that same night saying it was processed – DEDICATION OF NOTE) with details on how to order and pay…which I did immediately! (Since I had sold my Reverb in record time, I had the funds available) On the 31st of August I got a call from the mail room, “You have a delivery”, and BOOM, dropper is in my hands. 8 days from the moment I decided I want a post…in that time they got the shipment in, cleared customs and got me my post … 8 days!!! I was blown away! Had it fitted yesterday and took it for a very short test ride today and I could already tell, I had made the best decision! It reacts so smoothly and crisp… It feels like quality and weighs next to nothing…and it looks GOOOOD!!! I have used the Giant Droppers, I have used the Reverbs….and none come close to this post! And let’s not forget the one thing we lack in South Africa…After sales service… These guys will not leave you wondering… They will sort you out! Well done Derry and team!! I will be giving it a proper test run this weekend and will comment my findings on Monday…but so far, I have no doubt that this is only the beginning of a whole new level of happiness on my bike!
  22. The best excuse I have heard so far..."No one makes 26" anything anymore"... this was from a supplier/rep a couple months ago. I wonder if they realise how stupid they sound! Lets just say I am very glad there are still bike shops with brains that know majority of bikes in the world are still 26", it wont vanish overnight and probably wont ever vanish. Glad to see Rush Sports is bringing in proper Maxxis rubber for us #Enduro/DH guys...and according to the rep at the 1st Hakahana enduro, they will bring in 26". But I guess you gotta love the Marathon mentality the local importers force down our throats! Anything to rape our wallets....
  23. Well...judging by the numbers at Enduro 1, then the increase to Enduro 2... Things are looking up!! And they will only get better from here!
