  1. I reckon I will most definitely be going for them! Will give them a call Monday morning early and make arrangements... Can't wait to get those new shoes for my girl and be able to ride without worrying constantly!
  2. Thanks Robodog!I was deciding last night what option to go for and I made up my mind for the Onza setup. I tried calling you guys yesterday but there was an issue with the lines coz I couldn't get through at all. We are hopefully riding that side this coming Saturday so I would like to bring the bike past then (if all goes to plan). And just another thank you for the chat on the phone the other day, you were amazingly helpful. And that is so rare these days! Just based on that one call I have already told all my 26" riding buddies to go straight to you guys! I only wish you guys were closer to me... I would end up being a fixture there!
  3. I must be honest. My old hardtail has 2 plugs in the front and 3 in the back and after almost 1000km they still holding perfectly! I just wash the tyre when I get home and add some rubber cement to the plug and trim the ends to keep it looking neat... no hassles
  4. My first thought was that WTB combo but sadly the powers that be are size-ist b@st@rds and wont bring in 26" anymore
  5. Nifty trick that! I also thought of going to a tyre place and asking for those patches they use to bond the tyre after you had a cut in it. Fixed one of my cars tyres and its like brand new again!
  6. What a Rockstar! Thanks! Quite like the look of those... Will also give the LBS and Trailhead a shout and hear what they charge... much appreciated!
  7. Would it be a trade secret or may we ask how you would fix it.... Coz now I am very curious
  8. Have the same issue with the regular ones too. Pump it up at night and then flat by morning. My LBS had a clever and mixed regular slime tube goo in with the stans and it seemed to do the trick quite well. Went from many to only one or two pin pricks showing and those I just added a layer of rubber glue (as I got with my tubeless repair kit) and that fixed the issue... but now I am paranoid and check the pressure just before riding and it seems to be holding much better. No more flats and sealant all over the floor
  9. Thanks for the advice! Those Magic Mary and Rock Razor tyres are a mean looking combo! Wonder if they would be able to source those in 26".... if they can I would be glad to have another option to weigh up.
  10. Greetings guys! I am hoping to get some advice... Currently I am running older model Continental MountainKing 2.4's on my 26" AM bike. They came standard on the bike and work quite well but sadly they have zero sidewall reinforcement and after a mere 400km have developed scrapes where the canvas is starting to show... Hence why it is time for an upgrade. (Also they leak sealant from the sidewall...have actually ended up half coating the outer wall with rubber glue from tubeless patch kits as well as mixing tube sealant in with the Stans just to get the damn things to seal, it works very well now but still cant hold pressure) I was originally eyeing a set of Minion DHR 2.5's but sadly there is no stock, even spoke to the suppliers. So I decided to give the Trailhead a call and spoke to a really awesome guy there (Cant remember his name) and he recommended the following: Onza ibex 2.25 front Onza Canis 2.25 rear What I would like to know is 1) if anyone here is using these and what the grip is like? 2)how is the sidewall protection and do the seal properly? 3) How would this hold up at a place like Hakahana? (I know its quite brutal on tyres there) I am a big fan of the wider tyres so I am a bit hesitant going narrower on my bike... Advice would be greatly appreciated
  11. Sounds like every CycleLab/Bicycle Company I have ever been to... That's why I love my LBS, No BS and always go above and beyond for me.
  12. Go with local, as you know Africa is not for sissies so our concrete must be tougher than the rest!
  13. To all the people whinging and moaning about the JUMA. A few points to consider: Bottlenecks: I have seen more bottlenecks at Trailseeker and USN races this year than at JUMA last year. It is a fact of life. Sadly there will always be bring-your-bike-hikers, no matter where you go. Even on SANI2C from what I have heard. Algae in the storm drains: BOOHOO! Clearly you have never done a river crossing or ridden a wooden bridge after weeks of rain if this is an issue. it is a PART OF NATURE even though it is in a man made structure. Ponds and puddle and stream crossings have the same issue but do you hear anyone complaining to Trailseeker(as an example) organizers that they need to clean the rivers? Besides, I have never heard a spruit rider moan about this. Metal Bridges: Have you never ridden a slick rock section? That is far scarier than a level straight line metal bridge. I know I am not the best rider, far from it in my books. I do give the hikers a load of crap during a race. But seriously, if you find the JUMA to be that bad, how are you even a mountain biker? Nature is far tougher and trickier. Common sense and less windgat moves will prevent you getting hurt in ANY race. So as my buddy would say.... Chow a bag of concrete and HTFU! Grow a pair and have some fun. Yes, last year was not very well organised, but it was THE FIRST OF IT's KIND in SA. Give the guys a break. So they learn. This year will be much better! And next year even more so! USN has been running for a few years now and just look at the Stoke City race this year, what a colossal F*** UP! So take this race for what it is, a fun ride through Joburg in way that cant normally be done! HAVE FUN!!
  14. From what I understand, they are using SAS for timing so I am sure they will use our indexes for batching. The times you select during entry mean nothing apparently.
  15. I must agree. I pass guys on their R60 000+ bikes and fancy kit at every race... The bike does not make the rider. The frame is solid as with all Giant frames but the components are cr@p, specially the fork. I am slowly upgrading my Revel simply coz I love the bike, It works for me. I ride the most technical and crazy trail sections with it and she takes the punches and begs for more. Almost 2000km done, and the worst issue was due to a bad brake bleed and contaminated pads (thanks to the shop where I bought it). But like it has been said, its not worth upgrading if you want to sell it later. Mine has sentimental value and I enjoy upgrading it coz I know I wont sell it. besides, we all know that the correct number of bikes to own is N+1.
  16. http://www.bikeradar.com/news/article/new-headset-allows-use-of-tapered-steerers-in-some-1-1-8in-head-tubes-25275/
  17. Sadly, I have no clue... was a bit of a rushed day and didn't even hear who makes them
  18. I'm sitting with the same issue. I have the 2014 Revel 0. K@K front shock and no money to buy a new bike with all the fancy bits so I am upgrading what I can as I can. Also looking for a 100mm air shock, only catch is 95% have tapered head tubes (mine has the straight head tube). Luckily I spoke to my LBS and they say you can get an adapter so that your bike can handle a taper. They cost around R400 including fitting the adapter and shock. Just another thing to keep in mind, You dont want to go too big on the front shock (high mm) as this apparently messes with the geometry of the bike and can make it very uncomfortable to ride as well as damage the structure of the frame... not sure how accurate this is but its worth confirming.
  19. Thank you good sir! know exactly where that is, Its 1 of 3 sections at the Barn I haven't ridden yet.... but it will be ridden ASAP!
  20. Saw this machine at Big Red Barn over the weekend... Photos do it no justice! My buddy and I were perving badly over this sexy beast! Quick question though.... that downhill section, where about is that at the barn?
  21. Most of us live with fear everyday.... But sometimes she lets us go riding...
  22. Got a shiny new RaceFace Turbine 725mm bar for my 2014 Revel 29er. A massive difference from the stock 650mm bar.... Cant wait to hit the trails with it!
  23. This my baby.... Not as fancy as some of the others but she is still my pride and joy! Keeps me happy on the trails....and in massive trouble at home (apparently it is frowned upon by wives to park your muddy trail fresh bike in the living room!) Hoping that if I mud and water her often enough she will grow into a 2015 Reign 27.5...
