The 2nd Annual Toti Enduro X which is sponsored by Employ Africa will be held at Kingsway High School in Amanzimtoti, South of Durban on the 15th & 16th December 2012. Last year the event drew 5000 spectators to the MotorX/ Endurance track. MTB race will be the first of its kind in South Africa and the track will be designed by Burry Stander, SA no1. It will be called the Burry Stander XC Eliminator which stands for Cross Country. The first UCI World Champs was held in Austria this year. The MTBikers will race around and on the MotorX track testing their skills over the obstacles. The prize money for this elimination race is R20 000. Port Shepstone born rider â Burry Stander is the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup under-23 men's cross-country 2009 world champion. In the 2008 Summer Olympic Games, held in Beijing, Stander finished 15th in the cross-country mountain bike race. At the most recent Olympics held in London, Stander finished in an impressive fifth place. When we were putting plans together for this yearâs Toti Enduro, we were looking to include the fastest growing sport in the country, Mountain Biking says Jacques van Schalkwyk from Big Events. We had an idea but we were looking for something new, something exciting and someone who was the best at what they do, Burry Stander. As luck would have it, he was local and agreed to meet and now its history in the making. We anticipate 10 000 people to this yearâs event.
