  1. Thats what I said to CRC when they told me the same EU rubbish
  2. So I did a 4 hour ride - got 300 points | Could also just do a 45min Park (Walk) Run and get the same - guess if you care about the the points you get punished
  3. Hey there, saw your son by the bus assumed he had stopped due to heat, would have helped if we knew he was in need. Also helped a lady at bottom of Klapmuts who had a issue with her tire, helped her out and she managed to finish. Cyclist was knocked by Corsa, he was okay from what I could see, driver seemed to be trying to explain himself to law enforcement.
  4. Name and shame organizers this is not cool

  8. No, met him before, he bought a 105 crankset from me, did see you guys on the road though. Send him my regards and congrats.
  9. Hey Ezra and team, nice to see you out there, hope you guys had a good ride. Billy
  10. Really want to be part of this but need to be in JHB for work. Sending the wife, she will represent. Going to get mates involved too, great idea, great time to think about those who do not have.
  11. DC done! Rain was hectic, congrats to all the who braved it. All 12 finished, got the Charles Milner medal, really stoked. Bring on Die Burger!
  12. Wow - this thread keeps going! http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a356/mrriggs/flogging-dead-horse_zpsc4890d9c.jpg
  13. Rocking! Doing DC, then doing SCT! Cannot wait!!!
  14. The premium you pay for Assos is R700 over that of First Ascent top of the range - I have bought two First Ascent products, both have started to open on the seems after only 2 rides, not worth the R1500, gave one away, returned the other, went Assos, dropped the extra R700 and have never looked back. Personal experience, not true for everyone, but think some brands do trump others.
  15. Assos all the way - be kind to your bum
  16. Did the DC recce - at one point it was 46 deg - bike was fine - I was not. P.S- If anyone tells you the 2nd half is all downhills - shoot them and bury them, they are trying to kill you - might as well get in there first

Rule 5, I was there, it hurt, it hurt, not enough nutrition , Rule 5
  18. Understood. Why not try 'constructive reasoning' a dooch is a dooch - no matter what they ride - I just feel I am bundled with a whole lot of chops and I am not one of them. But I get your point
  19. Just wanna add http://img.picturequotes.com/2/24/23028/23028.jpg
  20. Ouch! I ride a spez and drive a BMW, yet I don't go ripping on other riders or drivers - generalisations are nothing more than one group trying to rationalise their envy of another - POINT

Hi Sparkl 1 - what about the build up of lactic acid? Does this not have an effect?

Some honest advice from a 1st timer - who has done 2 x recce rides over the last two weeks. Before the recess I had also only done 120k - well here is the truth. 1) It is far - really far - it will hurt, it will test you 2) For the first 120km you are the lego man - your favourite song is "Everything is awesome" 3) After 120km - sense of humour failure - don't ask, don't tell 4) You can actually do it - even if they have added 7km (Personal note - have not trained for this) 5) Rule number 5 It is gonna be tough, it is gonna be long - but - if you can do 120k you can do 170k thats what they tell me. Hope this helps
  23. Hey TobeyT - we would like to do it on the 11th, if you're keen.
  24. I have the 2013 Big Nine 500 - Agree with BSG, at the time 'bang for buck' - right now though I would look at Silverback to compare - great spec, nice bikes - similar pricing - otherwise you may want to revise your budget upwards. Hope this helps.
