  1. This was an interesting read. "Whatever the State Capture under the former President it is child's play when compared to the open shameless rape that is about to happen right under our noses for a vital and necessary service for the average South African Ramaphosa (South Africa's President) is married to Patrice Motsep e's Sister - Tshepo Motsepe Jeff Radebe (South Africa's Renewable Energy Minister is married to Patrice Motsepe's Sister - Bridgette Motsepe Radebe So both the president and Energy Minister are married to sisters of a Man who own the biggest and leading Energy Company in the country African Rainbow Energy & Power (AREP). Brian Dames is the CEO of African Rainbow Energy and Power (Pty) Ltd (AREP). He is the former Group CEO of Eskom. In December 2018, Brain Dames resigned from the Eskom Sustainability Task Team due to conflict of interest. AREP investment or business strategy is on Generation, Transmission and Distribution. Eskom according to President Ramaphosa SONA 2019 will be broken down into Generation, Transmission and Distribution. Breaking Eskom into 3 entities exactly matching to AREP's strategy raises eyebrows. AREP is ran by a former Group CEO of Eskom who was initially in the Eskom Sustainability Task Team raises more eyebrows. The fact that all these decision makers are related is mind-blowing. The fact that Energy Minister Jeff Radebe has refused to release the names of the owners of 27 Independent Power Producers (IPPs) who have entered into multi-billion-rand agreements with government is unscrupulous. Then the President authorizes an energy deal with independent power producers (IPP) Then the Minister of Energy Signs that deal worth an estimates 56 billion Now the next thing is to create a falsified energy crises in the country that will be so severe that business will take a serious hit for example the new load shedding schedule In order to render Eskom incapacitated The bigger plan is to intentionally, purposefully create and promulgate a plan that Eskom is incapacitated so that the brothers in-Laws are set for a in your face take over of this crucial South African asset. Wake up South Africa before it's too late elections are coming up. WAKE UP."
  2. looks like the hockey team is gona win
  3. i see what you mean...it is a shame...come on bikehub...that table deserves a win...support this man.
  4. i am busy building a deck...first time...when you cut the poles...what do you seal the cut parts with? I am using H4 treated gum poles (or so the shop which supplied them said)
  5. i see you winning hands down
  6. I never thought i would have to ask...i have a small problem...what to do with all the sawdust. i have been burying it in the ground...problem...ants...lots of them. i have spread it all over my gardens...ants. i dont have anywhere else to dump it...thought it might be a plan to look into compressing it to make fire lighters or something. any ideas?
  7. i have had a very close encounter...i generally do woodwork after hours or on the weekend...i have learnt to switch off the power and put hand tools down when i dont feel 100 %...then rather focus on design or planning for the next day. I have however hit 2 nails clean off my fingers with a hammer...hitting 6" nails into wood. i have also shot nails through wood and through my fingers...holding the wood using a nail gun...especially when they dont go straight through. My son lost 1 finger on the table saw...warned him about cleaning up while working...left the table saw running...slipped on a plank on the floor...put his hand down onto the saw...finger across the workshop...3 hours sitting in ER waiting for a doctor...by the time he got to see the doc t was too late to save the finger. wearing gloves while working on a drill press is also not a smart idea...i had a bit catch a glove and almost rip my fingers off one tool that makes me nervous...the band saw...they seem so safe...yet they are deadly. working in the construction industry...i have seen some serious accidents.
  8. i find meths works the best for removing labels.
  9. just be very careful with your fingers under the wood while holding a short piece of wood....it ok with big sheets...but when you need to just cut that little piece of the end...dont hold it.
  10. its not directly related to wood work...but a tip for when plastic gets all sticky. i found a pair of ole oakley sunglasses (old matrix style) which i had stored in the top of my cupboard...was cleaning out noticed them...when i removed them from the case the rubbers on the side of the glasses had like oily yucky film of *** on them...i tired everything acetone...meths you name it...left them out in the sun...it just got worse...so i gave the glasses away. same thing happened to my two way radios...the e/l testers i got at a good price...so i bought a couple...they are stored in a cool dark room...took them out to use...they were all sticky and yucky...i had a bottle of baby powder which i use for my electrical rubber gloves to help fit and remove when i am all sweaty...covered the radios in powder...bingo ...problem solved.
  11. I will be upgraded equipment soon...if anyone is interested i will post stuff i will be selling in this thread.
  12. if you dont want to spend a lot of money...i highly recommend the maktec mt 360 ...this thing is a beast ...super strong and runs for ever...i have one mounted under a table and boy thing works...i use it to profile my fishing rod racks (lots of them) one of my hobbies ... https://www.facebook.com/customrodracks.co.za/
  13. We have the bosch 10.2 volt blue range of cordless machines...the most used tools in my kit...i highly recommend these tools...all of them are good...no but about any. We also have the 18 volt cordless range...mostly still using the old brush machines and i can tell you there is nothing wrong with the old brush tools. We use the hilti 22 volt range for site work....we also have some of the 36 volt range. The new makita brushless angle grinder...awesome some machine...seems a little slower than the older version...however it is holds the speed when cutting thicker material. the small 10.2v bosch impact driver is no toy...that little machine can push long thick wood screws without a problem. The hilti impact drivers...mmm not the best. The makita impact drivers are stronger and have a better feel when working with them...i find the new brushless one has too many setting...the older 152 is simple and easy to use (however it has issue with long term use) We have tried and tested most of the cordless machines...i am at a point where i need to choose a brand...Hilti or makita...bosch is not an option (range too small) it looks like it is going to be makita (due to variety) the only problem i have and why i havent chosen to kit out the maikta...when it comes to brick and concrete...hilti is my first choice. for most machines...the makita chipper which we use for chipping out after chasing walls is still the best...it runs a full day without heating issues...a couple other construction companies we work with have also bought the same chipper and are very happy with it. hilti gets credit for products designed for site work...like the sleeve anchor bit and pin...i had to install hundred of these things while installing threaded rod...what a pleasure...drill ...pull the bit off...hammer the sleeve secure using the drill ...pop the bit back on and off to the next one...the gx 120 is one of my favourite tools...everything gets pinned with this thing...i buy black strapping and use it to secure piping after chasing or just to hold in place. let me stop here...this is something i am very passionate about...my workshop and site equipment...i wish i could employ a person to run my business so that i can spend my day on site designing and installing equipment...been blessed the past 2 years with 2 massive projects which required hundreds of man hours of installation work.
  14. be smart and dont cut off the plug top...get yourself a round plug socket and fit it to an extension cord so that you dont have to carry around a big plug...makes it way more mobile. The other option is a weed eater extension cable.
  15. a pathetic 3.43 shova later...i walk away from the finish line and started feeling like i was going to fall over...ate my oats before the ride and a banana...fueled while on the ride..jam sarmies...a banana etc...including a mix drink (hydration) during the ride...but that wasnt my concern...i started experiencing the same blurred vision as i did after the bump on the head...it was'nt that bad that i could join the ladies and gents for the gathering organised by our club (thanks to ECCC)...it was only my left eye. i left the gathering and headed straight to the ER...decided it was time to sort out this *** ...no matter what it took or how long....told the quack the whole story...starting with the fall in Feb this year...then left the doc to run a series of tests (not the same doctor who i have been back to 5 times now already) After listening to the whole story and completed the tests and checks...the ER doctor indicated that there was no need for a scan of any sort....i also pointed out the pain i experience in my neck...which i am concerned about because i hurt my left and right side of the shoulder...she indicated it must be just muscle related and should get a bit of rubbing done. The only test she did ...which the other doctor didnt do...check inside my eyes with a bright light...when she checked the inside of my right eye (the good one) ...no discomfort experienced...as soon as she started the left eye test...it felt like she was using a laser...it started burning the crap out of my eye. The ER doctor has advised that i go see an eye shrink and have my left eye checked out properly...she asked me if i wear glasses...i advised her that i havent been for an eye test in 5 years...i just go to dischem look at the small print on the label and buy pile of the cheapie flexible arm reading glasses...she believes this could be my problem...i am putting way tooo much strain on my eyes using these glasses...as a result when i push myself to the limit...it could be affecting my eyes. She also indicated that the dizzyness i am experiencing could be could just be an electrolyte imbalance....she did a blood sugar test...the result 6.7 ...considering i had just eaten and drank one of the super charged energy drinks...is normal. So now that i have had a second opinion...it seems it is not as bad as i thought...maybe i should just toughen up a bit.
  16. i was surprised to hear the doc indicate that rugby players and actually monitored during games and are removed if they shows signs of concussion. I speak from my own experience...the general public are not aware of how server or subtle a concussion can be...even after 5 visits back to my GP ..thank goodness i started this thread and taking advise from people commenting here. i read some of the comments during and after the show...there are a lot of people suffering from concussions without being treated or advised correctly.
  17. Interesting topic on SABC 3 this morning...concussions.
  18. an update...taken everyones advice...popping pills and resting...no training or cycling...did shoot some hoops with my daughter last night...but just took it easy. eyes are feeling better...still a bit sensitive out in the sun....vertigo/dizzy feeling still happens when i get up quickly...but very seldom happens when i am sitting down or go about my daily chores.
  19. thought i would do the daunting task of going back through some of the crap i spend hours typing on social media...trying to make sense of it all...which indicates that this concussion might have happened in Feb or even before...not August...it just got a whole lot worse in August. a while back i hit a low hanging branch at giba...felt like i broke my neck...just carried on ride like nothing happened....a close inspection indicated no visible damage to the helmet. 8 Feb this year i landed on my head at giba (found in previous posts)...what i do recall is that i didnt just get up straight away get back on the bike and continue...i was on the ground for a while...not sure how long...i was on my own it was late and there was nobody else on the track...unaware of the symptoms of a concussion i made my way back to the club house and continued my daily routine...riding etc. went to the doc next day and had a fatty lymph node cut out my neck...it turns out he cut out the one next to my spine and not the one on my spine (but thats another story...loosing faith in his abilities) got checked out for a cut ear and other "physical" injuries from the accident...my helmet just had a scratch on the left side...no visible damage...nothing to be concerned about...or not? the dizzy feeling i was experiencing before the incident in August was brushed off as just a head rush when i stood up...a visit to the doc indicated i had low blood pressure...was told to increase my salt intake...the major mind blowing headaches i experienced after a good evening session (not mentioned because not relevant at the time) ...was just that a mind blowing experience...a prior visit to er...indicated it could just be stress related...a pill and a bit of rest had me released in a couple of hours. The walking into a room and forgetting why i was in the room...due to old age? loosing eyesight faster than i can ride a bicycle (not very fast ) due to old age? i start putting the pieces together...i start seeing a bigger picture. understanding that concussions are cumulative...adds a another piece. it makes me wonder why a person would want to even consider playing rugby or boxing...we laugh at football players...who is laughing when they get to blow all that money and live a normal life till old age...rather than end up in a wheel chair as thick as 2 bricks.
  20. yip it must have been that bump on the head...where it all started...i forget this is where the supreme generation who glow in the dark...perfect in every sense...hang out...unfortunately you are stuck with some of us less fortunate brain dead beings Thank God its friday
  21. i must admit...when i started this thread...i had the attitude...a little bump on the head...cant be that bad and continued unaware of the repercussions. a little better educated thanks to a bit of research and the input from various people... i have changed my attitude and certainly going to be a lot more cautious moving forward.
  22. Thanks for the advice...i am taking note of all the comments made in this thread...and if any changes... i will as I did yesterday... go back to the hospital and insist they do all the checks again...i have an appointment for Wednesday next week to get my ears sorted out...will keep the doctor informed about the progress...good or bad...i noticed he does keep records of all incident bumps and scratches etc. gona stay off the mtb for a while...just in case. ease back into recovery. if i notice any signs...headaches...vertigo ...numbness...back off and take it easy again for a while...if it gets worse...will make sure i get booked into hospital...see a head shrink and get scans done.
  23. decided to got get checked out...again just in case. BP 130/95 Hr 71 bpm weight 96.2 kg even had my ears checked...they require a wax removal...have to use waxsol for 3 days ...then back next week for clean out and to check blood pressure again. informed the doctor about all my previous incidents...i have been given the green light to continue with recovery training and do as i am doing...if i dont feel right...back off and take it easy or stop completely.
  24. I decided to contact Hollard insurance to find out about cover for post concussion...the response... You are covered for emergency situations on site to stabilize you and if there is no medic on site...they will take that into consideration...and review the incident and consider cover for the emergency room procedure. however as in my case...because i had a concussion and wasnt aware of the severity of the concussion at the time and the fact that i didnt go straight to an ER...and now 5 weeks later from reading posts on a bicycle forum and what i have learnt from google...i am now only starting to realize how serious it is...they do not cover any part of the medical bill...and nor do they consider follow up treatment...even if i had gone to the ER. it was just a silly bump on the head...no big deal...or is it? you live and learn...i wish i had read a thread like this prior to the incident.
  25. Now that you okes have me really worried...that i had a sleepless night last night...been up since 3 am...lots of shyte went through my head this morning...a few things that come to mind. i bumped my head on a low hanging branch at giba last year...hit the top of my head it felt like i broke my neck...shook my head and continued with the ride...never thought about it again until this morning. recently (a couple months ago ) i went over my handlebars at giba...face planted and noted a scratch on the left side of the helmet...no other visible damage...no hair line cracks inside...cut ear and a few roasties......wasnt going very fast...dont know how long i had been on the floor...jumped up had to look for my bike eventually found it in the bush...never lost any sleep over it...didnt even consider a concussion...due to lack of knowledge about concussions. now this is were it gets interesting...i went to the doctor because i started experiencing a head rush when i stood up...went to the doctor...got checked out...i was told i had low blood pressure...and i should eat more salt...which i have been doing. been putting in the hours at cadence and pushing myself to the absolute limit... now recently this bang on the head ...but now things just dont feel right this time. it is time to get a second opinion and have it checked out properly.
