    Agreed that the X king is no good as a front tyre for AM riding. Where in Cape town and surrounds can I find a good selection of tyres? One thing in my favour is that 650B has become a much more popular size.

    Went for my first ride with these today: Shimano Zee brakes And this: 125 mm dropper. It's a Fast Ace, sketchy sounding name but so far so good. Basically a KS Lev copy. R 2 500 from Outdoor Escape in Stellies with a 1 year warranty.

    Thanks for the advise. Think the Ibex up front for now and then give it a bit more time and decide on the rear later. I can't get over how expensive tyres are!

    Makes sense. So what about the 2.4 Ibex up front and 2.25 Vigilante rear?

    Thanks for this! I am tired of sliding out on my X king up front and was specifically looking at the Vigilante as a replacement. Maybe should look at the Ibex instead. My only concern is the high rolling resistance. Is there something in between that gives the best of both?

    So THAT'S how I should be riding those trails. Videos like this should be banned, now when I ride those sections I will push myself past my skill level and end up in hospital.

    As for security, it's hard to say. I've lived here for 5 years and not had any issues. One negative for Somerset West is the N2 towards town. There have been a few instances of late and it can get nasty. So far I would say security in Somerset is good. Maybe some of the guys from the other spots can give their views.

    Hey Quade Pretty much anywhere will fulfil most of your needs. Speaking from my experience Somerset West/ Stellenbosch are good options. When you say your son has additional needs, how severe? My son has CP and there are some top specialists in the area, physios, docs and the like. That's my 2 cents, best you do a pre-move visit and bring your bike.

    Big question is where are you going to be working? I live in Somerset west on the R44 to Stellenbosch and have about 4 farms on my doorstep. Really nice but I work in Paarden Eiland which makes life interesting travel wise.
