  1. I had or still have one. Selling it now. I loved this bike very much for 6 years. I have done the Cycle Tour in 4 hours on it, ride Table Mountain trails every week and jumped some big jumps. I have done xc and enduro races on this bike. Just got new tyres on a special. This bike is a very comfortable ride. A bit slow uphill but very fast down hill. The fatter tyres grip everything and the 29er tyres roll over everything. Lots of stability. I am parting to get a gravel bike I like more.
  2. Stolen: Cannondale Scalpel Where: Cape Town City Centre, Cape Town, Western CapeI just spotted a Cannondale Scalpel si hi Mod on FB marketplace for R9000 them 7000. Made contact and guy is in Mosselbay with Address. I have his details with photos.Get further details about the incident in the Stolen Bikes section.
  3. XOSS works very well. Easy to use. Load straight to Strava. No issues. 24hours + battery life. Waterproof the whole lot. R700. Excellent for the price
  4. I have a 8 speed entry level tiagra set up on my bike. I am battling on long hills and looked at an bigger cassette with no luck. Question is. I see there is 52 36 chainrings where my current is 53 39 even I count about 42 teeth on the inner chainring. Has anyone done a cheep not expensive upgrade on similar set ups. . I'll rather save up for a bike with better spec than spend on full upgrade. Bike is Silverback Arizona
  5. Hi. I have been riding with the white branded Maxxis IKON tyres tubeless for a couple of rides now. With all the washed out jeep tracks in Tokai and Table Mountain after the rains the tyres have served me extremy well. Smooth trails at the wine farms they proven fantastic. I found when pumped to hard they don't grip. I weigh 84kg with the back pumped 1.8bar and Front 1.6bar I have so much grip on this setup. Very impressed. I had lots of side scrapes with the sharp exposed rocks with no issues. I'll ride these till I get problems if any. Thanks for all the positive input... Happy with STD new bike tyres
  6. Hi. I am putting out feelers to try and start in the Milnerton area early morning week rides. I really like what the Edgemead group rides do. (Start at 5am and stop at 6:30am 3 times a week.) I would like to join them but I prefer leaving home on my bike. I have one fast rider who really likes the idea and is very keen to join. It would be nice to have two groups, Intermediate casual group and a faster group for training. Would anyone else be interested to join us? We can decide on a starting place , This is a great way to meet new riding buddies, with safety in numbers, From 30 km to 50 km rides. Any ideas and suggested routes are welcome. Julian
  7. Thank you for all the post. Helped me allot as the tyres I want is still expensive. Waiting for special
  8. Hi I got a brand new wheelset with Maxxis ICON tyres on. These tyres were converted to tubeless. Chap said who I bought it from, these wheels came with his new bike, but he got new wheels fitted when purchased. (When I purchased my new bike 2016 with same tyres on the bicycle shop changed tyres to new tubeless tyres . The Maxxis ICON tyres that was on this bike is still on my wifes bike WITH TUBES.) Question: (Maxxis ICON tyres with white writing and no sign TR, just "MAXXIS ICON" ....Should I be worried to try these tyres tubeless on the mountain. I have spare tubeless tyres I can fit or should the MAXXIS ICON tyres be good to ride tubeless as is. I hope someone can clarify this. I see all the Maxxix ICON tyres at Bike shops have a range of different markings on and the tyre name "MAXXIS ICON" is yellow.. I would not mind fitting Maxxis Aggressor tyre upfront. when I have more bucks.
  9. I have a Boost 29er bike with 50mm rims and 3" Tyres on. It's lovely on trails and downhills but a slep trying to ride long distance or climbing along time. I wonder if I can fit normal 22mm rims wheelset that I can swap out when doing long rides by fitting spacers. All axels are true axels. Hope someone has experience with this.
  10. I have seen 3 hard tails today in same area and they all rode into Jo Slovo from Koeberg road in Milnerton. 1 x black Trek, 1 x black with green righting silverback, 1 x red merida. All bikes was 2 x setup. I tried taking picture but traffic was to fast. These were all 10 to 18k bikes. The riders was not normal work class earners. They looked poor. One bike had cleats a d they had plakkies. Hope there's not a bike den in the area for stolen bikes.
  11. There is some single tracks along the farms in Citrusdal. You can ask for direction at info office. One ride I done was a long climb on the road then turned left onto a long gravel road threw farms till I got a gate sign posted "The Snake House" there you rurn left. Fast slippery loose stone single track down threw some soft sand bits and farm roads. I just rode every possible trail that looked like a Mtb trail. Was fun. Check for the dogs on the farms. Some of them are not so friendly.
  12. I just purchased a Silverback Sphere 2017 for a very good price. 29er 3" wheels. I am use to a CX bike with little suspension. I can't afford a full sus in good condition right now.... This bike was very appealing for what money could buy. I am going to fit a dropper post from previous bike and 780mm riser bar and will try the 45 stem. I like the geometry of this bike as the Trek Stach. The merida big trail and scott 720 is much more a trail bike. I think the Sphere will give me a few hours in the saddle a day with some steep climbs with the more CX geometry. I am worried about the 32T front and 10-42 in the back gears on the climbs. I wonder if I should change the front to 2x and how it will work with the 3" tyres or should I change the cassette to 11-46?... (29er 3" is a big wheel to roll uphill). When i test rode the bike i really loved the softness and the feel of it. Only the mountain will tell its tale... I will let you know how i find the ride on the mountain..
  13. Are these Tuesday rides still happening?
  14. Cool story, cool bike, not so cool price. I also had the same experience with Mac and our bikes. I bought two bikes at the same time for my wife and I. We been up and down a few times after work to try new bikes and Mac waited for us wile we had to beat the traffic. I had a few small issues and all was sorted out or replaced. Exelent and friendly service. Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk
  15. Hi. I fitted the Forca dropper post. It cost fitted 2k. It really works well. I had the opportunity to test it properly today and must say it works well. I would prefer the handlebar leaver to be on the left but can't as I have a Scott lock out on left already. This became tricky on downhill breaking rear and trying to push the leaver at the same time. I chose this dropper post as it came in a 31.6 size and needed no shims. I heard there is no shims that works perfect every time.. Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk
  16. Interisting to learn about a thudbuster. Thank you Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk
  17. Thank you guys. I will definitely get two hard tails. Will get my vrou a soft seat and soft pants. For the price I pay I could fit one of those seat posts that move up and down from your handle bars on my bike and convert to tubeless. Baie dankie. Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk
  18. Hi guys I have been to the bike shop. I enjoy road and mountain biking. I had a trail full suspension bike. I need to purchase a new mtb bike. With the money I have I can buy a Giant Antem or Trance or Scott spark 960. All full suspension. Scott looks nice but has with cheaper gear. Giant Trance I love but mostly down hill. Giant anthem really nice but just to much money. My question is.. If I buy 2 Scott scale bikes with good gear, one for myself and one for my wife, am I buying a good buy? Will I be able to ride the Contemanskloof and Tygerberg hills still easily? I will be using these scott scales bikes for Cape Angus and 99er road races. I will need to sell my wife's old bike but the two bikes will stil be more cheaper than one Full Suspension bike. It's a hard decision to go from soft tail to hard tail. Hope for some encouragement into the right direction. Julian Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk
