VF for me again, 5:53 start so plenty of time for a second lap . Going to be interesting to see how the tactics unfold on the reverse route.

Wrong assumption lol, just a very understanding and accommodating wife. Also most of my rides during the week are HIIT done on Zwift/TrainerRoad and then early morning weekend rides outdoors.

Paid some more school fees when the VF front runners jumped on Witkoppen and I was caught napping in what at the time was a big bunch mixed with some of the leading juniors, but managed to chase some of them back down before the turn but by then 5 had gotten off the front never to be seen again. Ended 11th in group in 2:40 which although a bit below my target, is still 2 minutes faster than last year so all in all a good day out. Then took a few minutes to refuel and reload bottles and then joined group JJ for a more relaxed social lap. PS! Was good to meet Lurch at the start line. Hope your leg held out?

Last year 46 riders out of 545 in the group rode a sub-3 from G group so it’s possible. Your chances are therefore probably best to try to hang with the front guys (top 10%) as long as you don’t go to deeply into the red in doing so.

They did have them for sale at registration last year

Also doing the Ride, 2nd time and starting in C batch. Can’t wait.....

We never got the warning/s from the CSA official, or at least not that I heard but I have finally heard back from Racetec and it is as suspected: Good day Clyde Thank you for your email. RaceTec was instructed by the officials to adjust the official race result for the VC group based on last rides official time for this group. See below request. Any queries must be addressed to the President Commissaire. “Unsafe riding endangering themselves, constantly crossing the solid white line and staying there”. Now to find another race to get a decent qualifying time as adding almost an hour to my time in this race didn't quite achieve the desired result.....
