[Where are all the FiveTens hiding?]

Hi All,

 

I have just recently got some flat pedals to try out (I went straight for SPD when I got my first bike), but I cant seem to find any shoes that work well... At least all the ones I own don't work well.

 

I have been trying to get hold of some Fivetens (apparently they're the best) but no one in SA seems to have stock, at least not the places I have tried. I'm looking for freeriders, not impacts, any ideas where I can try?

 

Other than that, what are alternatives that might be available in SA? What are you using?

I have the FiveTen Hellcats and ride either with Crank Bros 50/50 or FUNN pedals and they are awesome, no chance of me ever going back to cleats.

Not bothered about the weight really, but sometimes the uphills can be tough

Agree, I am no weight weeenie, the bike does what it's supposed to do, tear down montains and put a huge smile on my face.

They are awesome bikes, bullet proof.

+1, He is based at the Sport Science Institute in Durban.

Went to see him after a PMB surgen coked up my knee.

 

Depending on what you have done, it can be a long patient recovery, with lots of physio.

Mine took over a year.

I went with the ST because its a multi purpose bike, FR/AM, enduro and XC and will even take you down some the DH tracks baring the hectic stuff.

Shova LT will be too much bike. Shova ST will be okay but remember that it'll be quite heavy.

Thanks for the replies guys..would the Shova be a decent bike for all-mountain riding? Have heard some guys saying that its basically a DH Izimu with a shorter fork..? Is that the case?

 

Shova would be perfect, I am running 120-150mm Rock Shox Uturn upfront with a Fox DHX4 Air rear.

I have just converted to 2 x 9 with Truvative chainguide and shorter stem.

 

I am really enjoying this bike, dare I say it even more than my Zula.

I am 1.76 and ride a medium Shova ST and Zula and they are perfect for me.

The Shova is a 2008 and the Zula a 2011, both are comfortable.

 

A mate of mine is 1.85 and also has a medium Zula and very happy with it.

Any Idea who stocks spares for Hope hubs in ZA, I managed to trash my "through rear spindle" on the rear hub,

Yup. Spez not bad, but if you think that it's "the best" out there, then you opviously haven't ridden anything made by, er... Intense, Morewood, Santa Cruz, Titus, Ibis, Rocky Mountain, Trek, Yeti etc etc etc....
