  1. Huh? Are our first names printed on the number already? Or did you add yours?
  2. Not long before our numbers top 40......yiks!
  3. What does the number look like this year? I can't remember last year's. Cloth/paper/space available etc. Who's been to registration yet?
  4. One sachet to one water bottle - and you'll be hot-to-trot......
  5. This is on the mid-morning show isn't it? 0900 to lunchtime-ish?
  6. Good lord, I hope there won't be any reeths in the post report......;-) Dyslexically yours.....
  7. Really, I resemble that remark. We must be twins!
  8. Welcome Wernerhp. 33 and counting..........
  9. Well my $0.02 is as follows: if we continue the principle that we will be faster in a group from the start to the top of Witkoppen than solo, then the approach to downhills would be the same as uphills. No-one is saying, if they did and I missed it, my apols, that we shouldn't climb up hills at a pace which is economically for the individual. All that was agreed is that we'd delay hitting the gas on the other side until we've all re-grouped? So downhills would be the same, descend economically, safely and within your limits (see the GCN video) and then after the downhill, we delay hitting the gas until we've regrouped? The challenge to the above downhill approach is if a downhill is followed immediately by an uphill, as the delay, perhaps extended, at the top of the uphill may cause the group to break up? I can't remember the course well enough to identify any points where this might happen........ I do think the more we 'unpack' tactics ahead of time, and on the day (!), that it will be a challenging ride for all of us, and probably in differing ways. Whether you are a strong rider who is helping out (kudos to you gents and ladies) or an 'original' I-group rider who may well be operating above and beyond one's normal intensity level (that'll be me!), or even wondering why the group is dawdling at times (remember YOU may not be the lowest common denominator at that point) it's going to play out differently from most of your/our previous races. My guess is, however it works out (you drop off, get dropped etc), you'll arrive at a point in the race when you've gone faster and more economically, done some 'new' stuff, and had more fun, than you would have done solo. Hopefully that's the point......?
  10. You may remember a few days ago I suggested that it might be nice for us to be 'uniformed' with Hub/BikeHub gear.....? Anyway I contacted Matt (Admin) and as much as he'd like to help our cause, he is out of stock of older TheHubSA tops and is waiting for new BikeHub stock - due in 2016. So we will be the rainbow I-train......
  11. I thought you were meant to not do anything different or new before a race?
  12. Guys...ladies...noted! Good point about downhills - I'd blocked that from last year. Tactics, ladies & gents?
  13. I'm going for the tripped boundary layer effect, for the whole I-train.......
  14. Did we ever conclude bmw1za's query? One cable tie - vertical, +/-50-100mm long - on top of your helmet. Yellow tape/sticker on the end? Or do I have to re-do mine........
  15. Interesting article.....ta muchly.
  16. Repeat after me - hills are your friend.........
  17. I'm going skinsuit if the weather gets wet 'n' wild......
  18. Patch has that lovely Colnago, yes? (Mental note - latch on to the Colnago....;-)
  19. Rule #9....i'm telling you! ;-)
  20. Scott, all I got from your post was: hill....start....race. I can't put those words in a sentence!
  21. I trump you with rule #9!
  22. To rain-jacket, or not to rain-jacket, that is the question.......
  23. My gut is that Pooks Hill will be a litmus and when we get to the top of it, we'll have a far better idea what the plan needs to be from then on.....
  24. And that's where (my) the wheels come off! I assume (cue up the jokes...) that if you were originally seeded in I, then 32 kph average, isn't on the cards. Ie someone quoted last year's I-group sub-3 finishers to be a handful. BUT committed teamwork could pull one up.......
  25. On my morning ride today, I had an idea. I try and avoid them, but sometimes I fail. (Admin are you paying attention?). Wouldn't it by mighty fine for us all to have the same jerseys? Would help team identification and assist with someone's developing business via advertising (Admin, we're over here....). There must be a box of former TheHub tops sitting in someone's office that need to be written off and donated to the cause?? (Admin.....just saying.....)
