  1. Not too much, that I know of between the N14 and Riversands apart from Diepsloot. I'm sure we'll work it out nearer the time.
  2. I think a final meet spot on-site will work. I can't get to Fourways on the day - there's some cycle race in the way..... Prob likewise for anyone coming from Pretoria side?
  3. The only thing between my alarm clock and the 947 start is.....the N14. Eish, i'm screwed!
  4. Best start setting those alarm clocks now.....
  5. Ta muchly, Gary. That's what I thought happened last year, when I missed my target by less than a minute due to starting my Garmin from mat-to-mat. One live's and learns....hopefully! So I-Team, I suppose we have 2 options, meet well ahead of time, at Scott's rendezvous and go into the pen together either a. v early to be near the front, or b. last group into the pen? The latter would allow us to catch all late-comers - a very real occurrence based on last year's traffic - and start together but we'd lose a minute or two from gun to finish mat? Thoughts?
  6. Interesting definition of disappointing, +30 kph av through traffic.... But I'm sure the I-Team will appreciate your talents! Please ensure you ride with a brightly coloured rear tyre.....
  7. Timing for such esteemed groups as ourselves....is from gun to finish mat isn't it? ie the start mat doesn't start the clock but rather logs you onto the course even though your time started when the gun went off???
  8. "All that horsepower and I'm still stumped....."
  9. He's stronger than I am, and he missed his sub-3 a couple of years ago by 34 seconds, so he might have a score to settle...
  10. Well my Sunday long run was postponed slightly by the temporary after-effects of some boy's-own riding on a crammed-in Friday ride (yes, you can climb Sterkfontein hill too quickly for your ailing ITBs....). But I've pondered the pros/cons of joining the I-Team, and I reckon you should try and avoid regrets in life, so count me in! My riding mate will join us too, if that's ok?
  11. Perhaps if you post this in the Classifieds section, you'll get more takers? Good luck!
  12. I have the same saddle; not that it helps the decal/bike search of course....
  13. Ah, yes. Good point.............
  14. Fail. Where's your attention to detail? What about the yellow sticker?!
  15. .....and he's King?
  16. At this rate, it'll be a serious wide-angle lens to get everyone in!
  17. Further to my comment on only a time-penalty if you start ahead of your official start-time, looks like they've firmed up on that too: "A cyclist may not start in a group with a better seeding, but may move down to a slower group without being penalised. Cyclists starting ahead of their official start group will be disqualified. No protest will be entertained in this regard." Part of rule 7. Good luck with the reseeding....
  18. For sure, the system is nowhere near water-tight and relies on trust...afaik.
  19. That's how I understand it. Plus if you're reseeded ahead of I, you can start later - no problem. But if you start earlier than your allocated time, you get penalised (I think last year was a 90 min penalty on Racetec?). I don't know if the marshalls would pull you in the start pens - it seemed chaotic enough last year to not be spotted? I think the organisers take a dim view of people riding on someone else's number. I think it relates to the rider info that's 'attached' to the number (next of kin, medical aid etc) as well as, probably, disclaimer issues? If they catch you, I don't know what the penalty is? Anyone?
  20. Best put me on the undecided list, please. I'll have a chat with myself on this Sunday's run.....
  21. As a kid, back in Scotland, a mate of mine had one of these when the rest of us were riding 531, if we were lucky. I still remember the ridicule we heaped on him for having a 'glued' frame. If he still has it, I know who's laughing now A beautiful bike...
  22. Or some other bodily expulsion; voluntary or otherwise....
  23. Grant at Cycletouring has some nice racks - front and rear....http://www.cycletouring.co.za/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=5_11 And Buycycle have the Topeak ones....http://www.buycycle.co.za/en/accessories/on-the-bike/carriers.html
  24. You only interested in an old rack, rather than a new one?
  25. A great marketing tool for Swift? Bikes and owner! Talk about profile!! PS Isn't David Kinjah, Chris Froome's original Kenyan mentor?
