  1. Incredible how he can pedal through Pretoria suburbs at a constant 33kph and never stop!
  2. Haha, a bit more diplomatic and thorough than my post. But unless Fanie is riding a fixie and has the pacing capacity of a hour record holder, for no less than 7 hours, this seems very strange!
  3. It's called Love The Bike, why go and ruin it by cheating! Can someone please remove this Fanie doosh from the competition. Who does a 7h road ride and rides at a constant 24kph up and down and taking uphill KOM all along the way! I call foul play!
  4. Dear Blackheart, I apologise for the incident as I did on the trail. I am not sure if you were trying to save a little kitten that was stuck in a tree or trying to dig out a nasty piece of biltong stuck between your molars but it seemed like you were doodling along at snails pace. I came up behind you on the single track, slowed down and asked you to track if you get a gap, you moved over to the right, I passed you on the dodgy left side, you got a wobbly as we were side by side and our bars touched and you went down. Again I am really sorry! Regarding the second so called "ïncident", I approached a group of riders, alerted them that I would be passing on the right (it was a dual track). I passed the first rider, as I approached the second I again said passing on the right, to avoid recklessly swerving through the group and startling the poor souls as the were desperately trying to maintain some form of forward momentum up the climb. The second rider then told me "You can pass on the f@cking left". I then told him I was just trying to be polite and that he shouldn't be a dick. He somehow took offence to this and kept yelling obscenities at me and asked me if I want to box? Being the mild mannered guy that I am I told him I was there to ride my bike and not box, and that he can f@ck off. As I team that was constantly moving through traffic for 24hrs and to have two incidents, maybe these posts should be put into perspective? Much flannel love and happy trails! Nico. PS Dane thanks for sharing the picture, we did look smashing in those shirts!
  5. Thanks! Rode my Santacruz Highball, build is as follows: Santacruz Higball Aluminium with SS dropouts, Fox F32 Kashima (you guys on rigids are cray cray), Middleburn RS8 crankset, Hope 32T ring, Chris King 20T cog. Chris King hubs on FRM rims with Wheelsmith DB14 spokes, Onza Canis 2.2 tyres, Formula R1 brakes, Thomson bar and stem, Enve bar, Gobi Kium saddle. Used a 32x20, tried 33x20 over December but just to big a gear for me for the first 80kms. Maybe next year if I drop 5kg's!
  6. Yup did a 6:40, did not manage the beat my 6:20 of last year. Was good until about 90km and then the wheels came off slightly. Sub 6 on a SS will be a great time on a SS, I think it will mean running the bigger climbs so that you have the gearing to smash the flatter fast sections in the last 30 odd kms. I hope more guys decide to pitch up on SS next year, so we can have some proper racing! It's not often than the race organisers give us our own category!
  7. I am in awe of you attempting it on a 33x18!
  8. Not my first outing on a SS, did a 6:20 and felt good at the end. Want to try and get closer to 6:10 next year.
  9. Rode 32x20 last year, worked out ok. Going to up it to 33x20 next year just for a bit more speed on the district roads at the end.
  10. Thanks to all, was a great ride and perfect weather!
  11. I am very keen to join, can I meet you at the BP just past 8:00?
