  1. Check out trackcycling.co.za. They based out of Bellville Velodrome as far as I understand. Dwayne Pretorius & Jaco Scholtz the people in charge of that me thinks
  2. I have only ever ridden a HT, so I don’t have any experience with rear suspension. I don’t have a large knowledge base on the different rear suspension designs and just wanted to find out if the use of the RL was specifically for the single pivot design. If I am going to upgrade then I would possibly do so when the RL gives up the ghost.
  3. Hi Hubbers Would there be a specific reason why Santa Cruz would spec the Superlight 29 with the Fox RL and not the RP23? Is this just to make the Superlight more of a “budget” bike or is there specific reason as the bike is a single-pivot? Would you guys rate the RP23 as a good upgrade or a RS Monarch? Read in one of the other forums that the Monarch is giving them awesome results. All input appreciated.

  5. Thanks Crow. It makes sense. Now just need the cash and a possible agent for Salsa!!
  6. Is there a agent for Salsa in SA? I know that ngala had some but they are all out. Is there any brand backup for Salsa then? @ The Crow. Out of interrest, why would the XC focused machine, SC, have 100mm rear travel ang the middle of the road/trail Salsa only 80mm?
  7. I would love to support SA by getting the PYGA, but I will have to transplant my 100mm Fox and the PYGA is designed for 120mm. Although I dont look like the normal marathon tipe, it will be the mayority of the events that I will compete in. So not really looking for Freeride but more XC/Trail where these two frame would fit in perfectly. As far as i understand the Super is a single pivot and the Tallboy is the VPP model. They have similar travel specs and geo. The Super a bit ligthter due to less hardware and also less costly to maintain for the same reason.
  8. Hi Hubbers. Am looking to eventually upgrade to a DS 29er frame. I currently have a 2011 Giant XTC1 29er that would "transplanted" onto one of these framesets. Would appreciate any comments regarding what would be the better pusrchase etc.
  9. As a medical professional I sense a lot of Bi-polar and paranoid schizophrenic personalities on this here Hub.
  10. Only saw these Hub specific challengesnow. Have joined them all. Nice to have some "local" challenegs.
  11. My bad people. Only saw now that I never mentioned my destination. I need a safe-ish (if thats possible) route from Boston to Woodstock. Any help at all would be great? Thanks.
  12. Sorry Brussels, one more thing. I see that the chainring says 8/9 speed. Will this still work fine if i'm runnung a 10 speed system?
  13. I didnt even think of going with a red blade. Will fit in perfectly with my pimping plans!! Very nice bud.
  14. I dont want to splash out on a double crankset without trying it at first. I recently did a race and I hardly ever went into my bigblade. By using my current crank I will still have my current granny ratio that I have become used to.
  15. Thanks Brussels. Would I need some sort of spacer for the chainring bolts to take up the space of the big ring?
  16. Hi People. I will be moving to Boston before the new year. I have just started commuting from Kenilworth at the moment and dont know the roads/routes on that side of the "boerewors gordyn" Any ideas of what route to take and what roads to avoid at all costs? Thanks.
  17. Hi Hubbers. Does anybody know if there is a 39 tooth blade available with a 105 BCD. I want to convert my 10 speed SLX crank into a double setup if possible. Any ideas or recommendations?
  18. Does anyone know if these are available yet in SA? If so where can they be found and are they UST? I am in the Cape Town area. Thanks. Juriaan
  19. Hi there. I can't seem to find a lot of information regarding these races. I can see that there is a race on this weekend in Grabouw but can't find a number or e-mail to confirm that the race is happening or to find out what the costs are. This will be my 1st XCO race and am really keen to do the race with other first time buddies. We just need more info please!!
  20. Also have the Giant. Enjoying it way more than my prev 26" Only problem so far that I came across is that you seem to fall from a greater height when endo'ing!
  21. So.... After seeing all those 29ers go raceing past me at the Attakwas, I have set myself a goal and will be getting a 29er HT in the near future. Need some input as both are similairly priced and specced for the most part. Whick will give me better long term fun and will be the better setup to systematically upgrade (when the wife isnt looking)? The Scott is lighter at stock spec and seems to have the better wheels. The Giant has a tapered headtube and pretty decent Fox through axle shock but is heavier due to wheels mainly. Thanks folks
  22. Hi people. Was just wondering if my current 9 speed XT crank would work 100% with Shimano's new 10 speed drivetrains?
