Id say a large full suspension, much more comfy. But if you dont want to spend too much, go hardtail. youll get better specs on a 10k hardtail than a 10k softail otherwise its pretty much personal preference. search thehub for "giant anthem" or "scott scale" and "merida"

n00b question, yesturday i was fiddleing around with my tyre pressure, what would you guys suggest for DH riding? I like my rear nice and hard otherwise the tyres absorb bumps and then when the tyres have done absorbing (reached there maximum compression) the shock comes in too late...i get a softer ride, with harder tyres...and i like to keep my front on the soft side, only cause my fork is as good as strapping two pieces of bamboo together! any ideas?

DHK i want your truvative!

Today I got home early from school after exams and decided id give my bike a good and thorough checkup/clean/lube before a weekend of riding. I took off the wheels, scrubbed my drive-train, checked brake pads ect. checked crank and BB (my BB is broken) and then pedals and I found that my right pedal had a slight wobble in it, so i rode the bike around sure enough it was making that dreaded click each rotation of the pedal so im assuming that its the pedals bb or somthing like that. (even clicks when i just apply pressure to the pedal when im off the bike) The pedal is a 4 month old DMR V8 cost me R450!! My question is, how often do pedals break like this and what should i do about it? i havnt checked DMRs warrenty but will do that shortly. if anyone could help me out or give some advice that would be much appretiated

Specs are not so great.... Deore rapidfire shifters lx in the rear deore in the front (no chainguide 3 chainrings) deore crank..... smashed BB Manitou metel rp shock Mantitou sh*t fork hayes 9 discs But im planning on xt shifters and RD and FD, I want truvative Ruktion cranks and truvative double chain guide (hopefully that white marzo fork ) and a dhx 3 or above shock....looking forward to that jrussell2009-09-09 03:35:01

Well I think the Reba and Recon both have U-Turn which is exactly for changing the amount of travel of the fork, have a look on the crown of the fork for a "U-Turn" knob and adjust that, if im not mistaken the Reba and the Recon can be adjusted from 130mm to 100mm And just btw, Recon and Reba are two different forks, and depending on which reba and which Recon you have, you might be able to adjust the travel you self via the U-Turn knob. Mines only 17.6 but then again its more of a FreeRide rig although they ment to be heavier than DH bikes.....
