Some info on the Cradle MTB loop For a bit more information, the N3 Gateway Tourism Association, in partnership with Terra Firma Trail Solutions (Glenn Harrison) and CESBE (Pty) Ltd, has been awarded the contract by the Cradle of Humankind World Heritage Site Management Authority to build a 14km mountain bike trail within the road reserve of the D374 and D101. This is an extension of the existing 18km Cradle Gateway-2-Gateway mountain bike trail, and the end result will be a full circular loop. The project kicked off at the end of 2017, and is estimated to reach completion at the end of April 2018 (latest). As mentioned in the earlier posts, the trail is visible and people have started to ride it - but here is where we need to ask politely that riders stay off the trail until it is completed. We know this will be difficult as enthusiasm levels are high, but it is a health and safety requirement, and any kind of accident could result in the project being delayed. By the end of this week yellow signs will start appearing on the trail, as well as barricades and danger tape, asking riders to please stay off the incomplete trail. If you could please respect these measures and perhaps share with your friends and riding associates who may be heading out to check out the new trails, that would be appreciated. Drove past Riverstone and now have to pay the price for being lazy....

Just a heads up had my Thule roof racks stolen of my vehicle in the parking at around 17h00 today. Racks were locket, looking at the damage on the vehicle they must have used some force.

Not for me but for the kid.

My Son is 9 and I managed to build this for him 650 B. Picket up the frame for a good price and used my old group set from upgrades I have done.

It was on a Scott Ransom. Snapped the frame. I replaced it with a Stumpy 29.

Been since Easter weekend. Only rode 30 km of sani. Sucks big time.

And so the bantering starts. If you look at the heading it states that ( cyclist road and mtb are knobs). If you read some of the previous topics mtbers are blaming roadies and vice versa for the attitude motorist have against cyclist. This photos shows that we are all the same. Regarding the road, yes it is a bad road to travel on like that and yes the cars don't give a **** about us. Unfortunately it is one of the only ways to get to the Cradle coming from Clearwater side.

The argument is always, road this mtb that. It's all the same.

Not driving no, but I was cycling. Anybody who knows this road would know that the trucks use the yellow lane in order to keep the traffic flowing. There must have been about 15 cars behind the tanker before he could pass them and moved out the way. It only takes one idiot in his car lose his cool. Bad road to ride like this.

Riding back from the Cradle this morning I rode behind this lot. All the way up form Muldersdrift down Hendrik Potgieter. On two occasions the guy in black on the mtb drifted over the yellow line. Ones in front of a Double cab and the second time a LPG tanker. I would like to know if they have a death wish or just plain stupid. This is just one of the most dangerous roads on the Westrand.

The owner is currently oversees. He is due back next week and apparently they will be doing some maintenance then.

Going there tom, let's see. It's currently coming down hard in Harties.

My new Toy( Replacement for Scott Ransom that snapped )

I got the 2013 Scott 24, used my old Xt wheels and rebuild them on the rim. Had to replace the rear detailer to fit the bigger cassette.
