  1. Thanks for the advise. The current pads are brand new. Ive done about 50km on them (open road riding with very little braking) Ill get some sandpaper to clean the rotors Are resin pads known to make a lot of noise? They were cheapie Shimano M485 pads (R100 or so)
  2. I killed my pads in the mud the otherday and I've replaced them with shimano resin pads. I had to rebleed the system completely and the pressure feels good. Ive done about 50 km of road riding using the brakes every now and then, but when I do, they scream like a sonnavabitch. Its so loud, im almost ashamed to stop for anything, except cars and trucks ofcorse. The bikes stopping perforance is rather poor too. It stops... well sort of Do I just need to ride them until they stop making a noise?
  3. Thank you. I appreciate the write-up I just need to find me some forks now! The Dart2's are really taking a pounding!
  4. Just came back from a quick 30 min cycle in the mountain. These tires work very well in mud and wet sand. I didn't once have a o fk moment. But on tar they are horrible... guess ill be lugging the bike on the back of the forester wherever I go ride
  5. Lol, good point. Let me see if I can find a review...
  6. Back from the Dead. How easy would this be to swop over, would I be able to do it myself? Anybody want to sell one ?
  7. Yeah, read now that they have been discontinued. 129, how bad could they be. The karma's were 299 ea. So how bad are the Koyotes?
  8. I popped into cycle city in canal walk and picked up a set of Kenda Koyote knobs. They assured me that this tire will work in muddy and wet terrain. For they money R129 ea (non folding) I cant be happier. Now just to see how they do... We've had a lot of rain here! anybody know the tires?
  9. Tried calling some of the forum vendors, they do not have any stock. I have not called CWCycles yet. What do these go retail at?
  10. Sorry, they are 26's Kenda Karmas look pretty good. Are they pretty fat (wide) too?
  11. I had a rear blow out and it tore the beading of the tire. Now I absolutely love these tires. They work awesome in my riding conditions. They are light and give decent grip when riding on the rocks. I mainly ride in the vinyards and singletrack mountain hiking trails (Looooooooooots of loose rocks) But its winter now and there is more mud. The small blocks dont work all that well, especially coming down the mountain in a muddy trail. I need a tire that is Light, easy riding on tar Balloon like (think smallblock 8) Works great in mud (its winter now) Is there anything that will work like the sb8 but perhaps better?

  13. Who can set the bike up for me? Im sure I can fiddle with the handlebar height and change out stems, but it not like i know what im doing anyhow. I ride with shift faction Mx gloves. The strike gloves are padded better though. Its definitely from climbing these hills in the vineyards... I peddle my arse off! What sort of tape? Insulation tape is the only one I know
  14. Prisma, The numbness is gone now. I ride a mtb so those bars wont work... perhaps another bar suggestion?
  15. Great thread, thanks guys and gals. Maggi, thats it. I find it difficult to loosen my grip... Would a wider bar or different sidebars help?
  16. Its almost like the bar-ends are digging into the side of my hand and cutting off circulation. Ill try the breathing technique, but even as im typing now there is a 15% tingle in my left hand, only the ring and pinkie though... weird!
  17. Been noticing lately that my left hand is prone to getting pins and needles... I guess its not normal? Anybody have something similar happen to them?
  18. Sorry, yet again... I missed the URL in the beginning... making me flood this fred
  19. Nevermind, found it. Graphs and original article here.
  20. Nice read. I was about to google that very question... Link back to the original article so we can see the graphs.
  21. Thanks Moolz! I realized today that I have been under inflating my tubed tires the whole time. I'm guessing I was running at about 1.4bar on average. Such a smooth ride, but the tubes don't last. I pumped up to 2.5 rear and 2.4 front and man is the ride hard over rocks. The ride is sort of unsettling! Ill be dropping down to the minimum recommended by the tires for now (2.0bar) and then look for a great all round UST tire for winter.
  22. I was quoted in R699 for the Stans. Yet U can buy it online for less that R500 directly from the states. UST tires do not seem like a bad idea. I might as well go all the way and do a proper job. Im not too concerned with the weight. Tire liners and tubes with slime is more than likely heavier than a complete tubeless setup. Ive taken a liking to the small blocks. They work well in the dry boland area. But with winter coming up, would there be a better tire to look at or is the small block a nice do-it-all kind of tire. They work really well on tarmac too. Where can I look into the Caffelatex kits?
  23. So there I was... ready to descend this 1km rocky downhill. I even lowered my seat so I can get over the back end to keep the front in check when I'm heading over the sand. Ive done this hill about 10 times and each time is something new. By just freeing I can easily get up to 40kph. Not that fast... sure, but when I weigh 110kg and there is sand and rocks on it, it can sometimes turn into a headache. Back to my story. Im klapping it down there. I glance down, 42kph... hit the mini little bump in the road, nice airrrr and I land on a rock with my front wheel. A sudden shake from the front and I am unable to steer...We're going down the bike shouts... Not without dinner and a movie I respond. I fight my way into the thick sand on the side and we get to a stop... front wheel is completely flat. I know where this is heading... a long walk home. Ive lost 3 tubes in about 2 weeks. The first two, due to too low pressure. (See going tubeless would cure that) The second, landing on a rock and snake biting the crap out of a tube... (see going tubeless would cure that too.) Ive had a look around online and im thinking of the Stan's No tubes kit. $60 dolla... not bad... Could the no tubes kit on my tubed Kenda block 8's? Ive read online and some say yes and some say no... something to do with the soft sidewall. what would you guys recommend?
  24. Henco, thats exactly where the sand/muck is in. But I would have to do pull the crank either way right? Where should I look for some dedicated Cycle Tools? CWCycles?
  25. It takes 5 minutes to remove, 5 minutes to clean and 5 minutes to put it back in.
