  1. Seeing as the parts will only be available next year end January, I decided to do some wet sanding and spray paint that nasty crank. Not great but better than it looked before
  2. I am the type that will camp out in front of their doors chasing customers away. Was never going to let it just slide. But the issue has since been resolved and they will take care of the damages
  3. Trek HO phoned me back and said they will do everything they can to make it right, new cranks and a new chain stay. (They probably noticed the negligence on the footage I requested) Obviously logistically impossible at the moment, but they will sort me out in the new year. Glad it got resolved, pity this wasn’t the outcome on the first call I received, but at the end of the day its the best possible outcome.
  4. I have had a YT with zero representation for 6 years and I’ve never had any issues. Haven’t had this bike for a year and its been in the shop 4times Pending the outcome from Trek, this bike is going to move on to someone else that might have better luck with it. Pity because its one of the most enjoyable bikes I’ve ever owned.
  5. 😂 no one has any idea, looks corroded. Maybe it was left in dot fluid or some brake fluid. still waiting for their response.
  6. Imagine how I feel having a new bike that creaks all over. I’m guessing bike shops also just try to make money by saying you need this or that replaced, because it was never greased properly from factory. Also I was wrong, according to strava i have 428 km on it, 97km of that being the 947 ride. But that is still new in my eyes.
  7. I can only assume this was caused by negligence and lack of finesse on the tools Crank arms (which the shop will replace) rear triangle pivots(coincidently where the bearings were replaced that caused the creak) also a minor chip around the bottom bracket but it was serviced by multiple shops so I didn’t bring any attention to it.
  8. Every area that was touched by the mech has some sort off damage. Paint is completely chipped off. It really is a brand new bike with less than 250km on it. I can point out every little scratch or ding that was on the bike. It is a futile attempt at this stage but i was promised a phone call tomorrow so will give them the benefit of the doubt until then. I usually do work on my own bikes but this all started with a creak that I couldn’t fix and neither my lbs.
  9. Superficial scratches on the pivots they serviced
  10. I was actually surprised that this bike brand’s main workshop at their HO was so careless with my bike that is practically brand new and already in for warranty claim. I don’t think I’ll just let this go that easy. Any other bike shop yes but this being their head office and main shop I’m going to be a nuisance to them
  11. Hi all, Anyone been in a similar situation where a bike shop damaged your bicycle during a service? The shop said they will make good on the parts damaged, but said the frame damage was already there before they serviced it. I have requested footage of them servicing the bike in an attempt to prove that they caused the damage. Any other ideas, and do I back myself until it is resolved? tia!
  12. Flippen love my top fuel. Apparently Trek's do come from the factory dry so I had my LBS look at all the pivots and bearings. No issues with the drivetrain
  13. Then my next question will be, can anyone recommend an orthopedic that specialises in sports injuries in JHB? I definitely did rush into things, but I am very aware of the injury and its implications. I babied the arm and I still do - it was just impossible to give up on a passion that since then had grown even more.
  14. 2 Years ago I dislocated my elbow, my Ulna dislocated severely and this caused my Radial head to be smashed. Had to get replacement surgery as it kept dislocating. I got up to 95% movement back in my elbow and about 80% in my wrist. Doc told me that cycling and lifting weights is really not recommended.. what does he know right? So I have been cycling since I could hold the bars without any real issues - realising that a bad fall could end up disastrous. Lately I've had some pain in my forearm and wrist as well as partial numbness or pins and needles - likely to be caused by the Ulna nerve. Any other riders here that had the same unfortunate injury? do I wait it out and hope time heals it or do I go back to my orthopedic with the symptoms? cheers
