  1. You can try to do a firmware update. Download the Wahoo app on your phone and update the firmware from there. I had some connection issues on my Kickr Core and a firmware update sorted it.
  2. I thought so. Thanks for confirming. Thanks man. I would rather steer clear.
  3. Looking at Google, there appears to be a road linking Kabeljou Street (close to Danger Point), with Romansbaai. The road appears to be called Lord Roberts Street, but it's a little confusing as further down Kabeljou Street, there is another (larger) Lord Roberts Street. I've been on the larger Lord Roberts Street, but I've only ever cycled past the one closest to Danger Point. My question: Can you or anyone else confirm whether one can take this road to Romansbaai and then onwards to Gansbaai Harbour? I'm all for exploring, but I prefer not to turn around or be shot at...
  4. I think I've been on parts of it. After Kleinbaai, on your way back towards Franskraal, there is a dirt road that looks like it's going to run along the shoreline, but eventually turns into trails which appear to be aimed at hikers and not bikers. I had to hike my bike out of there and ended up in someone's backyard in Klipfonteyn.
  5. There is a nice route that runs pretty much all along the shoreline from Franskraal to Danger Point. Not much in the way of technical mountain biking, apart from the odd sand dune, but it's quite scenic. You follow the tarred road from Franskraal Beach to Kleinbaai harbour, where the off road section of the ride starts. It's mostly jeep track, but there are some sections where I would not take any old Jeep. the last stretch to Danger Point is on tarred road again. If you're lucky the light house will be open and you can go inside for a scenic view of the bay. You can do this ride solo if you like. Lomond is nice to ride, but some parts of the trail is quite remote. Take someone with if you can. Enjoy!
  6. Hi all Just thought I's give you an update. My warranty claim was approved, although I still don't know exactly why. I guess it is, as most of you suggested, corrosion. I'm now awaiting a replacement frame. I just hope the replacement is the same colour so it matches my fork. Thanks for your insights.
  7. Noted, although I would hope that the manufacturer would know this and would not mismatch metals when building a bike. The seat post is the original one the bike came out with. I will wait and see what the manufacturer says.
  8. Thank you very much for your insights.
  9. I've had the bike since new and I don't use a high pressure washer or detergent when I wash my bike. I use a normal hose and a damp cloth. From my understanding (a bit of googling) aluminium does not normally corrode unless it's exposed to salt. Surely it is not normal for an aluminium frame which is kept clean and indoors to corrode after only a few years, or am I mistaken?
  10. Both the frame and the seat post are aluminium.
  11. Hi all Has any of you seen this on an aluminium mtb frame? It's right where the seat post goes into the frame. The frame is only a few years old (2019) and has not been exposed to hazardous conditions. Other than for this, the frame is in an excellent condition. My LBS says I should approach the manufacturer (which I've done), to ask if this is covered by warranty, but if not, I shouldn't worry about it too much. I do not want to mention the bike brand at this stage as I don't want to jeopardise any potential warranty claim I may have. Thanks
  12. Done! I hope they are able to push this through.
  13. Works for me. Maybe I'll start with Faircape en then do Welvergenoegd. If I still feel up to it by the time that I reach the bridge where I have to turn, I may just continue up the back of the Hoogies hill and head back down again at the exit from Hoogies to Welvergenoegd. That's a very big "if" however...
  14. Awesome, thanks! I know exactly where that is.
  15. I've done Hoogies and Welvergenoegd and although it was tough, I made it without too much trouble (apart from the snake I encountered). What I was thinking of doing was starting at Faircape on Malanshoogte (if that is possible) and then doing Welvergenoegd and Faircape.
