  1. Good day all, I found a key during my ride on Wellington/Klipheuwel Road, somwhere between Fisantekraal and the R304 turn-off. If anyone can describe it to me then I can return it. Regards Reinhardt
  2. That's your best route, I may also be starting a new job in Century City and that is the exact route I was eyeing. Coming from Rondebosch. Just watch out for muggers when the BRT route goes under the N1, it is a frequent occurance. I would advise riding with pepper spray and a jousting pole.
  3. Bloody hell, does it make you coffee after a long ride and massage your legs?
  4. I honestly don't know why people care about KOMs. Perhaps if I was actually a better cyclist I would care haha. As long as I defeat my friends I'm happy.
  5. Good morning all, just want to revive this thread a bit. I still cycle to work from Rondebosch via Woodstock. During summer I leave rather early, before 6 usually. But now in the winter I leave at about 6:50, anyone is welcome to join me. Just PM me and we can sort out the details. Let's try and get more cars off the road people!
  6. Good morning all, I am just copying this directly from the website, please look into it and share with your fellow commuters. http://openstreets.org.za/news/get-your-bike-and-win As part of the AtoB Challenge, in collaboration with the WWF Nedbank Green Trust, we are launching a new initiative! Called the #Bike2Train campaign, if you live in the Kuils River area, it gives you an opportunity to rediscover rail and discover the joys of cycling. Did you know there is secure parking for 100 bicycles at the station? Our guess is no, because next to nobody is using this facility. Which is a pity, because using a bicycle to bridge the gap between home and the train can help you save money and time, and get some exercise before work. We want to help people consider these benefits. So we are inviting train users to take part in a six-week challenge where they will cycle to the station in the morning (and then back home again in the evening) at least twice a week. Here’s how it works. With the support of BEN Bikes and the Pedal Power Association (PPA) we are making #Bike4All bicycles and safety gear (helmet, bike lock, bike light and rain poncho) available. If you want to take part, a deposit of R1,000 will be required and if you complete the challenge, you will receive up to 75% cash back. You must cycle at least twice a week for six weeks, to and from Kuils River station.
  7. Fantastic! It's selfless acts like this that inspire me to do the same, we need more people like this in the world. Good work to all!
  8. This. And I know we all love bicycles, but really guys, if you cant buy it cash, that means you cant afford it. Rather save a couple of thousand per month and buy your bike cash after a year or two, zero interest. In fact you can put it in a savings account and actually gain interest.
  9. I'm 1.71m and my saddle is ever so slightly higher than my handlebars. I changed from 29er to 650b last year and I feel way more comfortable and in control. I think for our height 29er is just too big. That being said, I am getting some wrist pains on longer rides these days, so I think I also need to either swap my stem, stop gripping so tightly or just strengthen my core.
  10. I agree with all that you are saying. I try to always be RIGHT on the road, but I look out for others, because they do not share the same sentiment. Thus I drive and ride defensively. However, this does not mean we need to take our eyes of the prize. I want everyone to be law abiding, and I want everyone to understand that what they are doing is wrong. Hence I will *** them out still, so that they can go home and hopefully think about it.
  11. Go overseas, buy there, dont come back. That's how things are looking now.
  12. I live around the block from the Rondebosch police station. It has palisade fences and trellidoor gates along with burglar bars... am I the only one who finds this ironic?
  13. I mentioned earlier that I think it's a French word, but it just became the norm to call it derailleur I guess.
