  1. Ye, I suppose it depends where in moz you go. I've never been to Barra, Tofo. Vilanculos town = dump, but nearby islands = awesome. Where ever you go in the world you get a Sandton side & a Hillbrow side.
  2. 1 WEEK TO GO!
  3. 9 More sleeps to entries!!!!
  4. Ya true, but one day when you're old, crusty & retired, with nothing better to do with your time, you'll probably be stuck in a home playing bingo, while I'm being spoilt rotten by my children & grandchildren in paradise.
  5. Can't remember what it cost off hand. But we were so impressed that we decided to buy into the developement. For only R365 000 you get 2 full months every year, fully serviced (they wash your dishes after every meal) for the rest of your life!!!! For their rates contact Wayne Mathewson on mathewsongroup@vodamail.co.za
  6. A place called Imbondeiro in Mozambique +- 80km north of Xai xai. No other place like it. You swim with turtles, views of whales doing acrobats, sun, sand, fresh water lakes at your back, endless secluded beaches. No distraction from the everyday rat race of life. Beautiful, comfortable, spacious cabins sleeping 8 people. Great climate, lovely rock pools for the little ones and reefs for fishing / snorkling. Memories of a lifetime!!!! 8. BEWARE THE CUT OFF!!!!!
  9. There's gonna be some MUBI climbing but at least each day ends with a downhill.
  10. Were out and about scouting some trails yesterday for stage 2. Looks awesome. Gonna be a fast, fun finish!! 20km downhill all the way!
  11. Day 1 +- 80km Day 2 +- 75km Day 3 +- 75km Day 4 +- 70km Ascents are no confirmed yet as we're still cutting trails, but it's Mpumalanga so expect big climbs approximately between 1500 - 2000 per day!
  12. Sorry mate, only teams of 2. It's a long way and anything could happen to you out there. If you don't have any friends to ride with, I know of a website where you can meet a few people. www.thehubsa.co.za

  14. Only 5 entries left, after that we"ll only be accepting bribes.
  15. For anyone who has done our XC trails at Mankele before, don't expect the same track. There has been a huge change; the track is only 5.8km long. You still do the dog of a climb all the way to the tunnel but not through the tunnel. Down Burry's rock garden which now has a extended boardwalk with a drop off. Another little heart rate climb & then behind the cabins as always to the tech zone near the finish and then back out for the second loop of the lap. Fast flowing single track, with a few drop offs and a few steep embankments. Come check it out!
  16. The strange thing is I made it through all the rock gardens & stuff and then bail on a flat with only a tree on the side of the track. I suppose it's not as bad as you, bailing on an open road. I think the most damage was to my ego, luckily it should recover within a few weeks.
  17. Hey Slick, shot for the support. Hopefully next year you'll be on you're bike. Another Avalanche come and gone! What a weekend. Regular turnout, but boy were there some snakes this year. I was hoping to defend my Top 10 title the regular competition (Damion & Jason), thanks to a tree that jumped in front of me on the 1st run of stage 1 all my hope & dreams were shattered. I suppose 17th with a dislocated shoulder aint toooo bad. Big up to the COTIC guys! I'm sure Mike's gonna enjoy his "Lacerated Leper's Lungs Green COTIC frame" Same time same place, next year. Oh, well done to Bryce, againnnnn!
  18. Come see what your bike can do at the AVALANCHE this weekend. Shuttles up and trails down!!! go to www.mankele.co.za check out Events - Mankele Avalanche.
  19. Course looking good!! Beware the new bridge on Stage 2. You launch off (the right corner) of a fast board walk, drop only about 400 -500mm and land on smoothly below. Well that was the plan, and walk away with a damaged ego, a roasty on my knee, elbow, shoulder & looks like I had a skin grapht on my back - einaaa!!!! Practice runs tomorrow, shuttle leaving at 14:30 & 16:00 Race briefing at 19:00. Later!
  20. I must say, My Santa Cruz Blur is my baby!!!!, but I was refering to the 29er division.
  21. Yip, really good okes, with great riding skills too. I thought (rumour) that Specialized was specailized for women (a girly bike), but not any more. Brilliant bikes. Did some of the Avalanche routes at Mankele with Harry & Fanie yesterday on the Stumpjumper 29er. What a bike!! Rolls like a 29er but reacts like 26er.
  22. The guys from specialized, are staying at Mankele this weekend. They have brought with them, 30 of the best Specialized bikes & you are welcome to test these amazing bikes. Saturday, 2 June 2012: 9:30 – 15:30 Sunday 3, June 2012: 9:30 – 15:30 Fanie & Harry, will assist you with your bike setup. They have set out a course, for you test the Best/Beast!! This is an great opportunity, to try out the world’s top bikes.
  23. Now you get 29ers and then you get THE 29er. Did all 3 stages with the Specialized Demo Crew on a Stumpjumper 29er. What a RIDE!!! It rolls like a 29er but reacts like a 26er. One day when I'm big..............
  24. Ye, the track is pretty much the same as previous. The Specialized demo crew is here this week, so I be doing a run with them 2morrow and see how it goes minus all the lose stones (after a bit of preping).
  25. Siss on you!!! You can ALWAYS make a plan.
