  1. what an amazing ride, all be it a tough one... got going at 7h30 and straight into climbing with cold legs and my body wasn't in the mood... as we got into our rhythm, bam!!!!strong head winds said "hello Boys"...! well the rest of the climb was un eventful and we pushed on till we eventually got to the summit. the most spectacular views .. the best was still to come tho... our decent was spent trying to prevent gravity having the last word.... breaks were applied as sparingly as possible to prevent over heating. t possibly the best downhill section for those on two wheels. my rear break was applied as a drag break, just to provide some relief to the. front breaks and to ensure that the back wheel never tried to pass the front wheels... when we hit the bottom of the pass, the riding took on a completely different sensation... here we found ourselves being dwarfed by these incredible rockwalls.. awe inspiring. the rest of the ride into price Albert was absolutely enjoyable given that the heat had creeped up to 34 degrees... loved every single second. my trike behaved and afforded me the enjoyment of being in. my element,
  2. I’d like to find out just how many “Bent” riders there are on this forum. as a bent rider (thx to a medical issue) there are many firsts that can be achieved and it would be good to establish a knowledge base from which to establish “firsts”…. Pls share any info you may have..
  3. To date 950km done.. tomorrow I hope to become the first trike(as fans as I’m aware) to cycle up and over the swartberg pass to Prince Albert….
  4. follow my progress on strata @Brett Parker
  5. thx, I was diagnosed with high cholesterol 10 days prior... then boom...
  6. Three months ago, "The Conqueror" and I embarked on an extraordinary journey, diving into the art of off-road triking. Together, we’ve navigated the challenges of hemiplegia caused by a stroke, rediscovered the beauty of nature, and reignited my passion for biking. Let’s rewind to October 12, 2024: while on a business trip to Johannesburg, a severe stroke changed everything. It stole my health, my outdoor adventures, and my beloved mountain biking. Over the past year, I’ve endured daily physiotherapy, ongoing treatments, and the delicate dance of balancing work and life. Yet, the yearning to ride again never faded. After months of research, I found the perfect solution—a custom trike from AZUB in the Czech Republic. Their craftsmanship and support have been exceptional, and my trike, the only one of its kind in South Africa, has sparked plenty of curiosity on the trails. To date, I’ve covered 560km, tackling trails, jeep tracks, and dirt roads. The next big adventure? The Cape Town Cycle Tour—an event I’m counting down the days to. Every ride feels like reclaiming a piece of myself, and I can’t wait to see where this journey takes me next! 🚴‍♂️✨

  11. Thx all. As I’ve had a stroke, therecumbent option is part of my rehabilitation . I’m thinking it might be cheaper to travel to Europe to collect and return with the bike as a used item.and brinh g it back with me as a excess luggage
  12. Greetings all. ik Jill looking at having an recumbent trike custom built in the Czech Republic and I’m looking for advice with regards to the importation of the bike into South Africa. Particular, I’m concerned about the duties that need to be paid when the bike is shipped back to South Africa. In addition, they will be vet payable and how would I go about reclaiming thevat There is anybody on this group that has imported in South Africa that can share any advice. I’ll be most grateful. Thank you.
  13. Simply advertising an item doesn't imply desperation from the seller. It's disrespectful for BH members to propose offers 40 to 50% lower than the asking price. If unable to afford the asking price, make a reasonable offer instead of attempting to take advantage. Let's be realistic with our offers.
  14. greetings all. having survived a stroke and being left as a left sided hemiplegic, I'm now wanting to find ways to return to my passion of cyclin. (herewith ends the sob story!) so my attention has been drawn to the world of recumbant cycling with highly modified trikes. checkout ICE trikes and AZUB trikes..... and the excitement is starting to build again....... my question is.... who else rides recumbant cycles and do you ride off road.
