  1. Surprised by the beta allocation. Basically they saying that this race had the most favorable conditions since the West Coast Express in 2018.
  2. Wow amazing engagement from @NicholasH. Always awesome to see that the race organizers are looking to improve their offering 👌. Was a first 99er for me and definitely making it a permanent fixture in my road racing calendar. Kudos for hosting a world-class event. Yes there are some things that can be improved that were already mentioned in this topic but well-done for getting 99% of it right. (Halaal food 😋🙏)
  3. Late Entries update. Weather is looking more favorable for Sunday but previous day's rains might still contribute towards some challenges along the route.
  4. Received some information (not verified) that he works for Trek. From the waybill info it shows that the parcels he sends are from Fourways. Mayber Trek Fourways🤷‍♂️ A buddy of mine was also scammed by him and called his bank to alert them about the fraudulent transaction. They came to the party and blocked his bank account and he was pleading my buddy to have it un-blocked by eventually sending him his goods only to find out 2 weeks later that the shifters he sent him was faulty.
  5. I'm the one that had a deal in progress with this individual. Thank God for Bike Hub Pay and Matt for being a legend. Bought a Cassette and hub from him and he sent me a broken shifter😬 Also had a month of the "Done" treatment. This tart is now trying to sell me parts off the hub and has the ordasity to tell me to release the funds to him.
  6. Cyclists set for 9-day ride to raise money for cancer, multiple sclerosis Published Oct 14, 2022 Written by Shakirah Thebus Multimedia Journalist, Cape Argus Cape Town - Approximately 30 cyclists, most of whom know what it’s like to lose someone to cancer or multiple sclerosis, will cycle from Mossel Bay to Cape Town to raise funds for the treatment and care of these illnesses. Rylands resident and dental surgeon Dr Elias Parker said Wheel to Heal was launched to raise funds for charities and had set a target of R2 million. Parker lost his wife, Mariam, to cancer five years ago. Parker said it was “an unbelievably painful” experience. Those who had lost someone in this way “know the sense of detachment, it simply makes you grapple with it for not days or months, but for years”, he said. At the age of 63, Parker got on to a bike for the first time. The group will leave Cape Town for Mossel Bay on December 3 and will cycle from Mossel Bay on December 4, through Calitzdorp, Ladismith, Barrydale, Montague, Worcester, Wellington and then back to Cape Town, a nine-day journey. “In addition to raising the money, we also want to increase awareness. In the rural areas, a lot of people, quite a large percentage of them, die because of very late detection or no detection for that matter. “So increasing the awareness and the significance of early detection is as important as providing funds for the treatment of cancer.”
  7. Ah makes sense, looks like it's a problem with the new version of the same jacket. Check the one I purchased(attached), the color scheme is different. https://www.firstascent.co.za/men-s-magneeto-cycling-jacket
  8. Hi Bud. Definitely not the wrong set of sleeves for the jacket. I went to Sportsmans warehouse to try on different Magneeto jackets and it was exactly the same mismatched fit. With other types of jackets the large is a good fit. It's only the Magneeto Jacket and when I took the jacket in this morning to their head office, they said that they were not previously aware of the problem but agreed that it was a concern. I will revert with feedback once I hear from them.
  9. Hi Guys So I finally got my Magneeto cycling jacket and ordered it in size L. The jacket looks awesome and specs are relative to my needs however I find that the detachable sleeves are completely mismatched in sized compared to the gilet. I've fitted on the medium jacket and it barely closes around my midsection but the medium sleeves are definitely a more appropriate fit for the large gilet. I am approximately 1.74m tall and weight 80kg's and large is generally my appropriate size. I have taken this up with first ascent and I must say they have been very accommodating and efficient thus far. I have taken the jacket to their head office and they are having a look at it for me so now I'm waiting anxiously for their feedback. Anyone else come across this problem?
