  1. They should still be racing with the Elites. 🚴
  2. Stolen: Cannondale Slice Carbon 2015 When: 18 October 2020 Where: Worcester, Western Cape Broke into Manic Cycles 140 High street Worcester Get further details about the incident in the Stolen Bikes section
  3. MANIC CYCLES - 2018 ABSA CAPE EPIC WORKSHOP SERVICES We as ManiC Cycles are very fortunate to be the only bike shop allowed within the race village. So no need to make a longer trip out to the Tech support village (aka "Tweede Kamp"). Not only will we have a fully operational workshop, but we will also offer a full retail outlet. We will also have a mobile shop (and workshop) at the Cullinan hotel in Cape Town in the days leading up to the race, plus a stall at registration, the Prologue as well as at the Grand Finale. So we will be ready to look after you and your bike from Start to finish. With all package options we will wait for you & your bike on the finish line, and we will return it to the bike park once serviced & tested, ready for the next stage. Which ever package you select, we will charge for parts & stock at our standard shop rates. Contact us for more information or to book your package
  4. Jonaskop would be very interesting one. With right gears it might be doable on a road bike as it is 99% tar road. I know "THE PINNER' has done it on a road bike, but did not come prepared with enough gears. https://www.strava.com/segments/856199
  5. ManiC Cycles - Worcester will be doing workshop services again. With the town locations of Tulbach - WORCESTER - Grabouw. We are nice & central during the course of the entire event. (So not only will we be offering a full workshop service, we'll also be offering a full shop service during the event). We are already taking bookings. E-mail us at francois@maniccycles.co.za for more info. Cheers Francois P.S. For referances from fellow hubbers, ask Veloria, we looked after his bike in 2009.
  6. I recently sold a set of 29er wheels to a customer as a set of "road racing" wheels: - 29er wheels fitted with a set of 28C Continental Gatorskin road tyres. For all those out there looking for more speed from a set of slicks, here's another interesting fact: A std 26 x 1.9" mtb tyre has almost the excact same outer diameter as a std road tyre of 700 x 23C. This means you can also use a 29er wheelset with road tyres on your std 26" frameset!! Bigger wheels, means more speed, so easier for you to stick with the roadies on your mtb.
  7. For now, you probaly need to fit a Rotorbike XC2 crank with rotor rings if you wish to go 2 x 10 on the cranks. Or wait for the stunning looking new XTR crankset.
  8. We tried it on my bike, but my mechanic recons the Crank is too stiff when tightend, and if we loosen it a bit there's a little play. @ Stingbean: How did you come up with a solution? (P.S. Thanks for the spare adapter)
  9. Thanks Dangle. Let me know when you receive any news on a compatable pressfit bb. I'll do the same.
  10. Been trying to find a solution but still no success, perhaps somebody on this forum has a solution. On most of the latest Specialized frames, they have a Shimano pressfit bearing that fits into the BB (not BB30, a size specific only to Specialized as far as I'm aware). Any Shimano or compalable Crankset fits this system. BUT, we've yet to find a solution for customers that wan't to fit X-0 or XX (TRUVATIV cranks). Even tried a AEROZINE BB adapter that converts std shimano type bb to fit a Truvativ style crankset, but no success. Only solution for the XX customers has been to fit ROTORBIKE's 3D XC2 crankset with Q-rings. While this works perfectly fine, and I'm a huge fan or Rotorbike's stuff, I do have a customer that would prefer the "bling" of an XX crankset. Other problem is Rotor only offers a 39 in Double cranks option, where as XX offers a 40 or 42 option. Anybody outthere with a suggesiton or solution?
  11. Road: Langebaan circa about 5 years ago I think (Fatty can you remember?) (Sorry no pics) Racing in Elite's at the time, on one of the out & back sections a rider in next group over took the bunch by going over the immaginary white line, he hit me head on. I dont recall ANYTHING about the crash. Woke up in Saldanha hospital a few hour later. Appart from smashed bike & helmet, I was relatively unharmed appart from concussion. MTB: 16 June 2009. Very lucky to still be around after last years crash while scouting new route for Willow Creek mtb event. A section of road had washed away but was not visible due to overgrown bush obscuring the view. I crashed head first into an embankment, breaking my C3 neck vertabra in 1/2 and shattering my left elbow. Will be forever gratefull to all of you on thehub that supported me through the 7weeks in traction and also helped raise funds for my medical bills. (And a special thanks to my great mate Riaan for organising it).
