  1. Navworld has the 520 non-bundle for R3500 currently. Its a great deal. Its not the plus version, but reviews suggest the plus became very sluggish when compared to the normal 520 and 820. So I would avoid it to be honest. Garmin's are already finicky units as it is. Most of my buddies have some sort of freezing issue or losing a ride here and there or not connecting to sensor issues sporadically. Best not to couple that will an annoying lethargic unit as well.
  2. I actually spoke to the guys at Garmin earlier this week. Apparently they have stock and are ready to go to market. They are just waiting on ICASA approval and the red tape from there. Said they expect to have that sorted by the second half of July.
  3. Well I think i'll go bribe someone at the Rosebank office with a good cup or coffee for some info! Hoping to be able to get one before The Jock... but lets see
  4. Has anyone managed to get any info on potential launch dates for the 530 and 830 in SA?
  5. Perfect... I don't do anything special. Wash them as soon as possible after riding (within a day or 2 if you can't do it straight after your ride). I use hand wash powder WITHOUT any added fabric softner in the powder mix. Very important. Never add any fabric softner like Stasoft etc. Soak for 10-15mins in mild mixture and squeeze inwards. Never wring them or they can stretch. If needed for multiple day consecutive rides, i wrap in a thick towel, covering back and front and then squeeze the chamois. I don't leave them out in the direct sun for too long. They dry fairly quickly. Couple of hours maybe. Then back in the cupboard. If throwing them in the machine, don't have any other items with zips etc. (hard / sharp edges). I rarely use the washing machine for bibs. I showed our helper how to do it correctly, or I wash myself when she isn't around. Never chance it with the wife, especially not after you buy a new bike... or went for a long ride on all 3 days of a long weekend and stuck her with the kids... #lifelessons. Edit To add... I don't ever hang them. I lay them on a clothes dryer over multiple bars. Wet chamois is heavy so that always goes on top and never hanging over the rail.
  6. Try removing your undies next time... Have tried many bibs and Assos is the only one I will use for rides longer than 2 hours or on consecutive days. And they last forever if you care for them properly. I still have an old S5 uno that I've used for 5 years almost every single weekend and public holiday. Its now getting a bit stretched so will retire it soon. My S7 equipe is AMAZING and ive used that now for 2+ years with almost no wear. Just a bit of colour-fade on the chamois but nothing hectic. I have brand new S7 Equipe with the black padding and an S7 T.Mille just waiting for me to unbox them. When there is a special, I always try to grab it at a decent price. Will not go back to anything else... 8 hours touring on a long day out and not a minute of discomfort (even with some rain) means they are doing something right!
  7. 2 yolks, 3 medium egg whites... allows the correct amount of B's, D's and folate, with around 40g of protein to be digested over 2 hours as a post-cycle recovery. Add some mushroom, green and yellow pepper, along with finely chopped onion and coriander to taste. Skip the salt and season with Tabasco for the perfect post-workout level of heat. (Patent pending)
  8. Hie hubbers. I'm not a Zimbo, but I spend waaaay too much on cycling k@k, so I'm looking for sponsorship too. Im not a great sprinter, but I make a mean omlette... true story. Not willing to share postage either... just sort it out you cheap mofos. Postnet is only R100 under 5kg.
  9. You're forgetting a VERY important point about the CTCT.... getting parked cars off the road as well. Logistically its not as simple as a rolling road closure. The number of cars that would potentially need to be towed / removed is a variable that cant be left to chance. Sent from my SM-G960F using Tapatalk
  10. Oh, to add to my 11sp electronic Grouppo request, it's really been a while since people had good specials on direct drive indoor trainers... and those that come up on the hub sell within hours.... so you know there's pent up demand waiting for It!! Sent from my SM-G950F using Tapatalk

  12. Hi guys... just wanted to put this out there as I made a very delayed decision to ride the race this year... Unfortunately I didn't register before the online entries closed so I will need to start with the last batch if I do a late entry. However, I was told that I could substitute with someone already registered and seeded, so if there's anyone that decides not to race, please get in touch with me. I'll be happy to cover whatever costs there are for a substitution and pay back your entry fee. Much appreciated.
  13. You can chat to Richard from Customised Cycling in Fourways... they do a lot of these. Zero 82 858 5287. I'm having him print gloss black decals that have a 1mm oversize edge to fit over the white on my Dark Horse wheels. Very precise but they've done many of these. My bike is black on black, with the the wheels having some white which I intend on covering up. Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
  14. I dunno... I agree that the points that were previously allocated were ridiculously generous. But these are now really tough! I'd be extremely pissed if I had signed up for the Apple watch and certain activities now fetch less than 20% of the points I had previously expected. Also, in summer now, it's easier to get outdoors and active, but come winter, most of my activity will be at the gym. No more 3hour rides every single weekend. At that point, I'm really gonna battle to make up 1200 even though I'll still be active. Bit of a dick move by Discovery to go this strict based on a few summer months worth of data. Also, read article on Fin24 or Moneyweb (I think) about data showing that people get their points on the first or second day and are thus disincentivised from activity later on in the week... Well if u start counting points over the weekend when people actually have time to go on long rides or runs, of course that's gonna happen! Logic clearly evades some of the designers of the system. Im pretty cheesed off with this. I think it's more accurate than before but also think it's gone a little too far.
  15. I dunno guys... I was part of this long queue and service was not great nor efficient. I have used Elliot for the previous 5 years and all drop off's on Sunday after my ride have been seamless. They pack the box in front of u and seal it. 5mins tops and it's done, even with a ton of people pitching up. Decided to give Bike Migration a try as the price differential to Elliot was about R300 per bike x 15 of us travelling together. I rode Sunday morning, cleaned the bike, sorted out a damaged rear derailleur after a quick trip to the LBS for spares and headed off to drop the bike off. I don't mind waiting if I was late, but these okes processed so slowly, it was ridiculous. Add to that, the guys forgot to stamp my page. I luckily noticed just before I drove off, but without that stamp, I have no proof that I checked my bike in. Then too, I could have chosen any bike number as there was no process to verify the number I told the guy they assigned to me. If only I remembered the number of that box with the Dogma! All in all, wasted over an hour of my day and decided I'll stick to Elliot in the future. Bike Migration should at least send a spy to Elliot to see the process and get some less lethargic guys. Many people ride Sundays too so that period was always going to be busy.
  16. Absolutely tragic! And I'm sure a sad reality check for all of us out there who love being out on the road... Sincerest condolences to family and friends of the deceased. RIP.
  17. Im keen! Sounds like a great idea... How far is that from where the lido loop guys start? Cnr of Swartkoppies and Kliprivier Drive? I wonder if the big group there would be keen to ride to Nissan and back... Theres a hundred odd riders for you...
  18. Paid up and got confirmation email but not yet reflecting on Racetec yet. Sure if will update overnight or in a day or two... Most people I know got an entry... Seasoned riders and some first timers. Just glad I managed to secure an entry. For those of you who haven't yet got an entry, I'm sure the unpaid tickets that were allocated will become available again. Don't stress... As others have said before, if you really want to ride, you will get an entry through the subs.
  19. Thanks Man... I actually left umhlanga at 5:20 and beat the road closures. Managed to get there early and warm up on the track for a few mins... What a nice vibe early in the morning! Had a good ride in BL, but we miscalculated the last few km and 10 of the 60-70 odd in the bunch managed a sub-3. I was 20secs shy... And still had 1 match left. Was saving that for the last 2km of the race that didn't exist... I recorded just over 101km on the garmin. Anyway, had a fun time out, stayed safe but almost wiped out on that nasty second-last bend! Happy with that for my first TD.
  20. Thanks, tried that this eve and wow it seemed long. Maybe still just tired from the drive down from Jhb. Gonna call this plan B
  21. Awesome... Thank u... Will try this one preferably. Went on the N2 past spaghetti junction earlier and wasn't too impressed with the long drive fingers crossed this works out ok... Im leaving umhlanga at 5:30 so don't think traffic would be crazy just yet. Also thanks for the heads up on BL... Will give it a go and see how long I last... Only one way to go quicker, right? Gotta give it horns! (intelligently, of course)
  22. Quick check in to anyone who knows the area... I need to drive from Umhlanga to Southern Sun Elangeni on the opposite side of sun coast. Leaving my bike there with a buddy tonight. What's the best route to drive from Umhlanga in the morn, seeing as the M4 is closed from 5:30? It's my first TD... Can't wait... Apprehensive about starting in BL as I'm not a quick rider. My first sub-3 was this years Emperors Classic... Let's see how long I can hold on for Best of luck to all riding... Go hard, be safe!
  23. Nice thread... I love that u actively seek feedback! Anyway, 1. Good vibe and a structured, well thought out workout will get me back again. Nothing like a disorganised instructor to put you off spinning! 2. I prefer hearing the instructor... But if there is a sprint for 60secs for example, pump it and maybe lower it to chime in with a count or encouragement at 30. Sometimes, a "keep it going through the burn" is what I need to hear. 3. Either would work, but changing positions or activities every 30secs is annoying. There was a guy at VA bryanston 3 weeks back that made the class do something different every 10-15secs... I kid u not! Choose a theme and explain to us... Like climbing for the next 12mins in 2mins intervals with 1min rest from resistance 6-9. 4. 45 or 60 during the week. If we have time, we can choose to do two classes. Weekends 60 or 90 is perfect. 5. Unusual positions and/or frequent changes in position. Other things I enjoyed from some instructors is when they reminded me to "drop my heel" or "keep your upper body steady". Guide us to good technique and explain which muscle groups you are targeting and for how long that stint is going to be. Sometimes, I get tired in a position only to have the instructor end that stint 10secs later. Or save some energy for the grand finale only to find that we just completed the last hill and last 5mins will be easy riding. Communicate your intentions - we like understanding your thought process. It helps us plan our workout accordingly. Thanks for asking
  24. Demand exceeds supply... So I can just image what the organisers are thinking right now... "9 secs... Hmmm... I think we can squeeze the 2017 price to 80k per team and risk it being available longer than Steven Gerrard on the pitch against Man Utd!"
  25. If you're a hairy Greek, it's quite easy to "shave" a good few grams off ur chest, back and legs. Bike weight become immaterial... Then again, with the price inflation of Mach3 Turbo blades, it's soon gonna be cheaper to just upgrade to some Dura Ace components...
