  1. If you must react, then you might as well do it properly and run him over. Plus, that will give us plenty popcorn-discussions in the following days Rant & Rave - Topic: Hubber runs over fellow cyclist INTENTIONALLY MintSauce2008-07-03 08:10:41
  2. Probably made in the same factory
  3. I was just thinking the same thing....on both counts
  4. Bwaahahaaa....love this part...."Also, Dave wanted me to mention that in addition to making you a faster, better rider, the DW-link will also make you more attractive to the opposite sex."
  5. I don't think you could call someone like BMW(as an example) diluted when they bought two traditional brands and made them more succesfull than they ever were in their histories. Purists might argue that Rolls Royce and Mini have been diluted by not being seperate companies in their own right. They are now run by BMW.....but BMW still runs itself. One update required to the diagram would be that VW and all it's subsidiaries now fall under Porsche. Truly a remarkable achievement that Porsche, which was severely cash strapped in the early 90s and close to a possible take-over, has re-emerged as the most profitable car maker in the world. Amazing to think that a company that produces around 30000 cars a year can have the cash to buy a controlling stake in VW, who as a whole sells several hundred thousand vehicles a year! 6. No, no....someone else got to her before he did
  7. They're not oval. I think it's as a result of the holes in the rotor being slightly larger than the bolts that hold them to the hub, thus they are not perfectly in the middle. Mine are the same....don't worry about it. DISCLAIMER: JUST MY OPINION....DON'T BLAME ME IF IT BREAKS
  8. Cool....watch the classifieds for a 'Kidney for sale' posting soon
  9. Excellent choice I might add....I want the 29er though
  10. You bastard! I hate you!
  11. GM has been struggling for years. One of the biggest issues as reported in the motoring press a few years ago, was their pension payments. It relates to employee benefit deals made in the 60s with trade unions that are crippling them now. Apparently the problems started for them when their retired ex-employees started living much longer than projected....blame modern medicine I guess. That however is not the sole root of the issues. The fact is that these auto-makers have lost huge market share to Japanese companies. And then of course there's the fact they just can't seem to screw together a decent car. A couple years ago the British Car Mag use to have a list of all vehicles sold in the UK with pros, cons, alternatives etc listed for every one. They said about the Chrysler Neon...."The only car to have panel gaps visible from the moon" These companies need to make drastic changes if they're going to survive. They are not doing enough, even though I have no doubt they are trying. They need a Carlos Ghosn type of approach, a man that performed miracles at turning near bankrupt Nissan into a great succes story. Apparently longtime GM shareholder Kirk Kerkorian tried getting Ghosn to move to GM as CEO and also backed a deal for the Ghosn managed Renault/Nissan alliance to buy a big stake in GM. When talks broke off, he sold off most of his stock in GM. As a matter of interest, from Wikipedia: Ghosn (pronounced Ghoson) joined Nissan as its chief operating officer in June 1999, became its president in June 2000 and was named chief executive officer in June 2001. His turnaround of Nissan has gained him celebrity status in Japan, where he has published books and even has a manga character based on him. When he joined the company, it had debt of $20 billion and only three of its 48 models were generating a profit. Worse, Ghosn was viewed as an outsider by the media and parts of Nissan. To counteract this view, Ghosn promised to resign if the company did not reach profitability by the end of the year.[2] Ghosn claimed that Nissan would have no net debt by 2005. One year after he arrived, Nissan's net profit climbed to $2.7 billion from a loss of $6.1 billion in the previous year. Nissan's operating profit (EBIT, or earnings before interest and taxes) margin has increased from 1.38% in FY 2000 to 9.25% in FY 2006.
  12. No....I know specifically of two incidents in California. 1st one a solo male rider was actually killed. In another, two woman were attacked. The one that got mauled survived when the other woman pulled her unconscious body away from the cougar as it was getting ready for lunch. This was in Whistler. This cougar was shot about a week after the rider had been chased. It was seen stalking golfers on a course on the edge of town and authorities were called in and shot it. The reason for it getting that close to town was apparently that they'd had a very heavy snow season resulting in a shortage of food for the cougars and bears due to the snow taking longer to melt. As a result they weren't staying higher up the mountains as is normal. MintSauce2008-07-01 00:01:44
  13. Read about that yesterday. Hectic for sure. Talk about timing with that other rider passing just as the phone rang. You might think that it's a race and somebody else would've heard. However, 60 people turning up at a 24hr race is a small field. Even with 220 riders that we've seen at races in the Cape, it gets so quiet at night between 1-5am that at times there'll be several minutes gap between riders. It very likely that noone would've heard it. It's funny that we never even give something like this a thought around here in Darkest Africa. It seems to be more of an issue in the US and Canada. Last year just before I went over, as in two weeks before I left, I read a news article reporting that a rider had been chased by a cougar down the trail at the top of the 'MUST do' list of trails that SARA gave me....greeeeaaat!
  14. Sorry....only farm implements here....much more fun
  15. A bearing removal tool. Failing that....farm implements like hammers and such
  16. Don't put tubeless tyres on....just get a conversion kit, unless the standard tyres are *** anyway
  17. Just go to a shop that stocks them or your LBS and ask them to organise. Doubt the agents will deal direct with you anyway. Or go to the Kona website....there should be a dealer locator on the site. To find the Kona website....use the link provided below www.google.com
  18. My fav pedals are still my original '93 Shimanos....the entry level ones. Nicer than my XTRs even Tried Time on a buddy's bike and they were very nice Incidentally know of someone selling a pair of almost new Time Atac Carbons for R1500. They were R2500 new I think and they were used once MintSauce2008-06-24 09:13:20
  19. Not anymore Lost a V-brake pad years ago....on both Vs and discs it's highly unlikely to happen' date=' but sh*t goes wrong from time to time whichever you choose. Based on the fact you complain about the noise on that ride, I would venture to guess that your buddy was using his brakes as usual after losing a pad...? He should've attempted to stay of the that brake and the disc would in all likelyhood have been fine. On two seperate occasions I rode a total of +-20km on the metal pads on my discs....both were fine afterwards. Just my experience What brakes? What bike? 90kg is not heavy....they should be able to handle that no problem I would think?
  20. Opening Media Player now to get rid of this one....thanks bud! At least Pearl Jam is worth listening to!
  21. Erm....the Superlight is a great bike, but seriously, the Spez and the Spark have absolutely no similarities to it and the Rush is a re-working of a design that came out before the SL if I remember correctly....93 or 94...?
  22. Beautiful bike Crow....very, very nice!
  23. Hey....bike buying isn't marriage....even I've been known to be slightly unfaithful! To Titus and Chris King....those I9s are beautiful! Especially when combined with a 29er wheel where the increased stiffness plays a big part. And the Mojo is a hell of a sweet ride. Spent about 2hrs on one earlier this year and was thoroughly impressed....the bike just loves to play, and play rough. Super stable, especially when you're just on the edge of control. Solid is the word!
