  1. Thanks, I will check it out.
  2. Any advise on cycling baggie shorts for women? Are they comfortable and where is the best place to buy in Cape Town?
  3. I am trying to help a colleague at KMA to find a bike to use for the CTCT, as our director has invited us to join her to do the cycle tour with her, and raise money for KMA (Kronendal Music Academy). I have done the tour a couple of times, but Curtly Masemola, my colleague, has not and he does not have a bike. I promised to help him look for a bike that he can borrow for two months. He is 171cm tall and of slim built. The bike will be serviced before returned. If anyone can assist, it would be wonderful. If you want to find out more about KMA, here is a link: https://kmahoutbay.org/ Regards Judith Stiller
  4. Hi Lynskey. I am very keen to communicate with you re this route. I have done one bikepacking trip in the Cederberg, with friends, and unsupported, so I am very keen to try out your route. If I can find out where the back routes are, it will be even better.
  5. Hi Lynskey, this is a good idea. Which route did you take?
  6. Ride there, do you mean I should just go and train on the route?
  7. Thanks for the advise. I suppose I would be able to do 50 miles now, so maybe I must just get going. It feels like a big undertaking to get there and back if it is only for a 50 miler.
  8. I have entered the 100miler, but haven't started to train yet. Is it too late, or is it still possible? I impulsively bought a Black Friday special entry, and now I need to get there, and I also really would like to do it. Any advise? I live in Pinelands, Cape Town.
  9. Is this Masiphumelele? I thought it is part of Kommetjie.
  10. Ja, I just called it a cbd. What shall I call it? The informal market plain? Not nice there, whith taxis, rubbish, pedestrians...just as you said.
  11. @capediver, thanks for your advise. I did the route today, and kept in mind what you mentioned. I don't like the Kommetjie cbd part, but otherwise it is such a lovely ride. It is amazing how cold and misty Misty Cliffs really is.
  12. Hi Chris. Thanks for this. I actually only read your post after I did take the road up past Ocean View today. I did indeed feel a bit exposed, but at least there was traffic, and a couple of cyclists coming from the opposite direction. I took the other road past the lighthouse on my way back, and thought that is indeed the better option. At least I got a good ride in.
  13. How safe is the road from Noordhoek Village to Scarborough ( the one through Kommetjie and Misty Cliffs)?
  14. Thank you for this reply. Which long rides did you do to train?
  15. I am riding a mtb and want to get in the distance, but it seems like when the long rides come, people get on their road bikes, which makes me too slow on my mtb. I do not have a road bike, and need to do the training on my mtb. I know you get good secondhand deals on road bikes, but I do not have the extra funds for that. If there are groups that I can join for long training rides training in and around Cape Town, I would like to join. I want to do a 100 miler in October (Prince George) and need to train with people doing longer rather than technical. Any advice?
  16. 😄 Well, now I feel better. I can save on not only a new bike, but on cycling shorts too.
  17. I know this is a silly question, but can I do the cycle tour on my mtb? I know everybody these days have road bikes, but I simply can't afford another bike. I also realise the race will be much harder on my mtb, but I have entered and I am keen. Any advise?
  18. Is it just a road race, or is it fine on a mtb?
  19. Thanks for all the help. I am sure the bike shop people would rather be riding their bikes this weekend. I might have to walk my dog over the weekend and go to a bike shop on Monday. Have a great weekend.
  20. Thanks. Yes, I think it could be the gear selector. It is a Giant MTB, with a 1x10 setup. I'll take a photo and send it.
