  1. Any advise on gravel tyres? I have a nice and light mtb, but do not ride technical routes, just gravel roads, tar and now and then some bike packing on back roads. I am quite slow when I ride with others, and I like to blame my wide, knobbly tyres. Would it help if I look for black friday specials on gravel tyres?
  2. I am travelling up from Cape Town to Cederberg Oasis on Friday, but I am really worried that my small car won't make it there. I put my bike in my car, so travelling with my bike is easy, but I have been warned about a low clearance car on that road. Any advice on that, or would there be anyone who could give me a lift, either from Cape Town, or the last stretch from Citrusdal, or even Algeria, or Op-Die-Berg. Regards, Judith
  3. I am doing the 68km Ceder race, and was planning to go up in my VW UP! I have been advised though, that I should travel with a vehicle that has medium to high clearance, which my car does not really have. I was wondering if there is anyone travelling from Cape Town who could give me a lift on the Friday. Alternatively, I could drive to Algeria and leave my car there, if I could just get to Oasis Backpackers with someone from there. I am based in Cape Town.
  4. I am enquiring about a good place to go for bike fitting in Cape Town, that is reasonably priced as well.
  5. My bike got stolen, but with it my multi tool. I have replaced the bike with an older secondhand Giant hardtail, but am looking for a good multitool. Anyone throwing one away that I can buy at a good price?
  6. Thanks for the advise.
  7. We are planning a trip next year, maybe Langeberg area, or Prince Albert. Still deciding. My Giant Anthem that I did our trip on this year, got stolen, so that is why I am asking about the carbon. Steel is so heavy.
  8. Just a question, is a carbon bike strong enough for bike packing?
  9. Thanks, I will check it out.
  10. Any advise on cycling baggie shorts for women? Are they comfortable and where is the best place to buy in Cape Town?
  11. I am trying to help a colleague at KMA to find a bike to use for the CTCT, as our director has invited us to join her to do the cycle tour with her, and raise money for KMA (Kronendal Music Academy). I have done the tour a couple of times, but Curtly Masemola, my colleague, has not and he does not have a bike. I promised to help him look for a bike that he can borrow for two months. He is 171cm tall and of slim built. The bike will be serviced before returned. If anyone can assist, it would be wonderful. If you want to find out more about KMA, here is a link: https://kmahoutbay.org/ Regards Judith Stiller
  12. Hi Lynskey. I am very keen to communicate with you re this route. I have done one bikepacking trip in the Cederberg, with friends, and unsupported, so I am very keen to try out your route. If I can find out where the back routes are, it will be even better.
  13. Hi Lynskey, this is a good idea. Which route did you take?
  14. Ride there, do you mean I should just go and train on the route?
  15. Thanks for the advise. I suppose I would be able to do 50 miles now, so maybe I must just get going. It feels like a big undertaking to get there and back if it is only for a 50 miler.
