  3. Hi, I am new to cycling an needs some help/advise on choosing a bicycle. I have done some reading and are leaning towards the Merida Big Nime TFS 900. This is from reading blogs, reviews, etc. I would like to know between the Merida and Scott Aspect 910, which is the better bike. I can get the Scott for R9700, while the Merida is R12000. Also, how does the Aspect 910 compare to the Acpect 10, as according to the sales agent at 1 of the shops it's the same which doesn't sound right as the Aspect 10 is a lot cheaper at about 8K. Any help, and 1st hand experience with these bikes would help greatly. My Budget is around 10-12K, as I would like to get something that is very decent and better then entry level, as I would not like to upgrade any components too soon. Thanks in advance.
  4. I have located a 29 Merida near Wierda Park, I can not upload the photo, if anyone has been hijacked or had one stolen please contact me on 0832552425, this bike is very new, and has added bar ends, has a new bike rack thats been added by the bad guys, we know who has brought it and where it was sold from in the township, I urgently need an owner or case number to proceed. I suspect this bike was one of the 29's hijacked early in the year in the Mnandi/wierda park area. Thanks
  5. Hi! I am upgrading from my 12yr old Giant TCR Once and looking at these models. Mostly a mtb'er but doing annual Argus and DC therefore needs something light and comfortable but definitely not high end stuff (I also need something that will again last 7-10yrs...upgraditis only applicable in mtb'ing). Shimano 105 or equiv is the minimum requirement. Issues: 1. Value 2. Comfort vs Racing geometry (or is it more about a proper set-up) 3. Price: <R20000 (I can get these models at between R16500-19000 for 2012/13 models) 4. Other bikes Thanks!
  6. I am looking to sell my mongoose tyax super and looking to to get about 2k for it, the reason for my selling is that I have out grown it. I have now moved onto a large frame size in terms of measurement. I need help in deciding on what bike to get...my first option is the Merida TFS 900 2012 and the second option silverback mercury sport 2012 Will be using the bike for both on and off-road rides... What am I better off with? And any other bike better than these two for the same amount of money?

  12. Hi Guys, I saw this Merida and fell in love.. Its a really great looking bike and i'm only looking for entry level as MTB is my main game ! I then came across the Fugi for R2000 less and after doing some research it seems spec for spec they are pretty much the same ?? I'm heading towards the Fuji, its a lot cheaper and its not bad looking at all. B) Could anyone give some advice, maybe someone has either of these bike ? Option 1 - 2012 Fuji Newest 3.0 - R4300 Option 2 - 2013 Merida Race Lite 900 - R6100 http://sphotos-c.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash3/523737_10151227837461322_433822199_n.jpg
  13. Hi, I'm am in the market for a 13k 29er MTB. The one that best suits my wallet is the Merida BigNine TFS 900-D. 2012 weighs in at 12.7kg, wieghed it in the shop. I assume the 2013 range is lighter? I beat all my regular ride(Giant ATX840 2002 26") times on the loan Merida and fell in love with it.Not sure if it was the big wheels up the hills or the 30speed vs the 24speedster. 3.5km from bottom of majic forest to top at 182m incline: Giant ATX840 2002 = 19min25sec Merida BigNine TFS 900-D 2012 = 16min26sec The shops now have the 2012 and 2013 coming soon, does anyone have a picture of the 2013 looks like and the specs? Also some feedback if this is a good choice? The Giant XTC 29er2 is in same price range, but low spec and the jump to the next level is about 5k in the giant range. Scott Scale 940 also looks promising if I had to push the money bar a bit, but sat on one and didn't feel right, the merida felt better. Any advice and specs?

    Merida 99

I would like to have some comments on this bike. The XT version. The CF frame, one level up received a good review in the Tread magazine recently, but is this one worth it? R16000 new at LBS, with XT components and Deore brakes, with Alex rims, Fox fork and DT Swiss rear. I like the aggressive geometry and would like to use it for short rides on twisty single track mostly.
Kan julle my raad gee asb.
  18. which bike did you decide on here... happy?
  19. Anyone know anything about this bike ? Is it any good ?
  20. Which one of the two are the better option to buy? Any first hand reviews would be appreciated..
  21. Hi all Looking at my initial MTB purchase and trying to choose between a new Scott Aspect 10 or a (barely used) 2010 Merida Matts TFS 900. The prices are more or less the same give or take R250. Any advise?
  22. I'm concerned - just this weekend I spoke to a guy with a Merida 96 - he also had a cracked lower rear suspension link - just like the guy in in the previous posting. Both cracked in the same place.... Both my fiance and I ride 96ers - mine less than a year old. Seems like there is a design issue there? Anyone else had a problem?
  23. Can someone help me I will post pics. I am looking to sell my Merida HFS 1000. It is in good condition full XT. I am looking for a 29er the bike shops will give me crap for my 26er. What price can I look at selling privately?
  24. Deciding between these 3 to purchase. Which one is best, any other suggestions are welcome. My riding is recreational, but fast single track riding is what I ride most. http://www.merida-bikes.com/en_za/bike/2012/9/MTB+Full+Suspension/Ninety-Six+CF+XT-D http://www.giant-bicycles.com/en-za/bikes/model/anthem.x.2/10744/53396/ http://www.scott-sports.com/us_en/product/11255/61164/221693
