  1. I recently needed to get the DT Swiss NUDE shock of my Scott Spark (2013) serviced. I rang a bike shop in Pretoria and the confirmed that they can send it to DT Swiss to get it serviced and that the cost will be between R650 and R750. I arranged for the shock to be dropped off at the shop and about a week later I was informed by the shop that the shock is back and the cost for the service is R1,450. I believe some seals were replaced. Is this the normal cost for a service of for a DT Swiss NUDE back shock? Is there any way to find out what DT Swiss actually charged for the service?
  2. My Scott MTB was stolen in Ixopo after a ride , please could any bike shops in the area or south coast look out for a white Scott Team withXT components trying to be sold to them... Will pay large reward for her safe return. Here hoping Warren Washaw70@gmail.com 0728009590
  3. Hi there - I am about to buy my first bike. Been doing some research and visiting bike shops and decided on a 2014 Scott Spark 940. I must say it's pretty confusing with so many options available out there. I initially thought I could get something around 20k but soon realized its worth spending about 30k on something with good components and suspension. I plan to first get bike fit and then start doing some races - nothing too serious. If I really enjoy it and decide to do some proper races I want to be sure that my bike is good for this. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Cheers.
  4. Hi hubbers My son has a Scott Aspect 910 MTB with shimano hubs and Alexrims and he does MTBing as a sport at school. I want to know which upgrade will be better a complete wheelset and if that which make and why or just replacing the hubs with ones with sealed bearings.
  5. Wife have a Scott Spark 60 26er which I am trying to save some weight on. It currently has ZTR Alpine wheels with Hope hubs and fitted with Shwalbe Racing Ralph's tubeless,, these made a huge improvement in her riding and dropped over 1kg. I am no looking to save a bit more weight and the list is as follows: Shimano Deore m590 crank to XT, is it worth the $$$, how much will I save? Shimano m520 pedals to m540, considering this? KCNC seat post and handle bars to replace stock. What else should I consider changing? Bike has done about 3000km. Wife weights 56kg so not much room to lighten her anymore, we doing Sani together and am trying to make the ride a bit easier.
  6. As the heading says what to get.... Will be looking for 2 ... 1 for me and one for the father in law as he is also ready for an upgrade... So to start - Santa Cruz Bronson - AWESOME - But too much cash and some of our mates have them already... So .... what about ... Cannondale Jekyll 27.5 OR Scott Genius LT OR Yeti SB 75 OR 2014 GT Force OR do we wait for the new Sanction?? THEN - the holy grail - BUT you can only get it in like August YT Capra WHAT ARE YOUR GUYS THOUGHTS????
  7. Hi All, Me and my wife are looking to get into mountain biking, mostly for riding on gravel roads on the farm. My budget is R6k max per bike as we need to make sure we're really into it. I'm located in Polokwane Limpopo and one of our local dealers has Scott Aspect 620 in that price range. Is that a good buy or do you guys have some better alternatives? I am prepared to travel to PTA or JHB to get the bikes from there if need be. Any advice will be appreciated thanks

  15. Hi Hubbers I managed to pull the wool over my wife's eyes long enough to get her to agree to me buying a new bike . I'm going for the Scott Spark 910 and am considering changing the stock Syncros wheels for Mavic Crossmax ST's. Not sure this is necessary though - can anyone advise me on the Syncros wheels? Would I benefit significantly with the Mavic's? The specs: Syncros XR2.0 rims with DT Swiss Aero Comp spokes and Syncros XR2.0 CL / 12 x 142 / RWS hub (made by DT Swiss). I weigh 90kgs and do exclusively cross-country/marathons. Any advice would be appreciated.
  16. Anybody have issues with the engagement of the free body ?? I often have this "clunck" noise as I apply power. OEM wheels on Scott Scale Pro 29 er, spec sheet says DT Swiss XR29 but think the are 240's as XR29' not on DT Swiss website. Probably done a 1000 km on it, second free body (replaced on warranty), now it would appear that the hub itself has bocome damaged, edges burred as a result of engagment problem I think.. It only has 2 pawls. Next question: what do I replace it with that wont break the bank, is easy to service and maintain with spares readily available ??? Any comments ???

  21. Hi, Looking for some opinions from experienced Hubbers who have done Joberg2C and possibly also Epic ... I train and race on a Scott Scale for marathons and 3 day events (Sani, W2W, etc). Really enjoy the lightness and stiffness of the bike. However, for Epic 2014, I switched to my trusted Tallboy (veteran of my previous Epic's) and was very happy given the rough terrain and long tough days. Now planning on Joberg2c .... question is, should I do it on the Scott Scale or on the Tallboy? How rough is the terrain? (compare to Epic) how rocky/loose and steep are the climbs? To a certain degree I prioritise speed over comfort, unless it gets too bad/rough (saddle sores, etc). thanks
  22. I want to change the SCOTT DT Nude2 rear shock on my 2013 model Scott Spark 940 to a FOX. I understand that I need a shock that is 165 mm long, but apparantly I also need a secial size washers to make the shock fit. Has anyone done this change or can anyone offer some advice? Thank you. Eddie
  23. We still have a few seats available to transport people and bikes from King Shaka to Underberg on Monday 12th May and Tues 13th May. Also transport from Scottburgh to King Shaka from Thurs 15th May to 18th May.
  24. I may just as well copy and paste my previous post... Scott Scale 940, 2013 model, medium frame, black with blue, stolen in week before the Argus. Insurance pulled all the stops and got me onto a new bike (managed to get the very last 2013 medium around) in time for the Argus. Last Thursday, said bike (inside house and locked to Thule rack) neatly stolen - again!!!!! Somewhere someone has a set-off point for all these stolen bikes...I reckon if we managed to trace a few of them, we'll find where they're all going... In the meantime, I'm seriously fed-up (and probably bikeless as the insurance may not necessarily pay oit again...) Please keep an eye out, folks...
