  1. Hi Guys, Need some assistance please, I have a 2020 Scott Spark 950. I was doing a once over when washing my bike and noticed what seemed to be a loose pivot screw, I grabbed the torque wrench and tried to tighten it, without even reaching 10nm the screw starting spinning around. So not sure if I broke it or if it was over tightened from the start but need a new one. Where will I be able to source?
  2. Hi All Okay, I'm aware that Scotts are notorious for creaking like an old wooden boat. That aside, my Spark 920 wasn't all that bad until fairly recently. I decided to pull the pivots apart, check the bearings and re-grease them. Upon doing this I discovered that there are two aluminium spacers on either side of the pivot right behind the rear shock (i.e. the pivot at the top of the seatstay). I know which way round they were in there, but I'm in doubt on whether the bike shop that last serviced the pivots put these spacers in the right way round. If you've done this service yourself before you will know that each side has two spacers, one larger (red) than the other (gold), but both have a thicker inside edge on one side (i.e. only one side of the spacer is flat). I have two questions. 1) Which way round should the spacers go in (must the large spacer go on the outside of the frame and the small one on the inside)? And 2) Which direction should the thicker inside edge of the spacers point (should it point towards the bearing or away)? Any advice on the matter would be much appreciated, I would take the bike back to the bike shop that did the last service, but to be honest I would not trust their opinion (lets not delve into that topic now though). Cheers
  3. I recently purchased an older Raleigh RDS 7.0 of 2006 vintage (See pic) on an auction. The paint job is very "old school" so I am planning to respray the frame. I have stripped everything off the frame except the rear A-frame which has got me puzzled. I have removed the hexagonal bolt from the pivot but am stumped at how to get the actual pivot bolt/bearing out so that I can separate the rear a-frame from the main frame. Can anyone help???
  4. So in my quest to replace the existing bearings in a reign x1 2010 frame I bought, I'm having trouble removing the lower shock pivot bolt (red dot in picture). This thing feels like it's welded in there! I'm not sure if more leverage will work as I can feel the bolt head is developing play from the allen keys! I've left it overnight twice with Q20 to soak in. I left the frame on the side, bottom hole covered and i filled the inner bolt with Q20. So if worst comes to worse and I drill it out , where can I get a replacement bolt from? EDIT: To clarify, I can't remove the nut holding the bolt in place.
  5. Hi All. I had a blond moment. I stripped down the rear triangle and removed the bearings etc as I have had the bike now for a year. I made sure not to loose any of the spacers etc, my problem is that I did not realize that they are not just spacers but they have lips on the inner edge on one side, and I did not check which way they are supposed to sit when I took them off. I have checked and re-greased all the bearings, they all spin smooth so all is ok there. I re assembled the bike last night and I put back the spacers the way that makes sense to me but I am not sure. with the pivots not torqued it moves freely, not connected to the shock, but once torqued down the recommended specs it is not free moving anymore but it does move. who can tell me which way the spacers go?
  6. One of the major trends this year at Interbike is Enduro. It's everywhere you look, and for good reason: it's the fastest growing sector of the MTB world. Enduro is basically dead centre between DH and XC, and isn't that just about right? Click here to view the article
