You only need to put those plugs in carbon bars if you are going to use bar-ends, and some bars come with their own plugs (like the Truvative Noir)

 

There is also the Scandium option: those are super light and very strong.

 

Yes and no.

No if you are not gonna cut the bar, Yes if you are and you can't do it with surgical precision.

And NO they don't weigh 40 grams each they are 22 grams for the set, not a lot of weight, I am prepared to put money on the fact that most of the posters in this thread can afford to lose 22 grams on their bodies.

In the end of the day, forget all the "pose" factors and weight issues and just train that little harder to up the wattage.

But I will depart here as a regular back marker, who also knows very little about bikes.

Good luck with the light bar and be sure to cut the new one with care when the old one gets replaced after you crush the ends from an informal lie down :thumbup:
