Pm my.

Homer, I think I have a pair lying around the house.  They still work, just rattle a bit.  If I still have them (can check tonight) then you can have them and try them out.  PM me if you are interested.

I am in the Western Cape (northern suburbs)

You should advertise this more widely.  One of the main arguments for choosing Campag over Shimano is that the Shimano STIs can't be fixed if they break or get worn, while Campag can.

Of course, if it costs a fortune to repair the Shimano lever, it doesn't really help.  What is a typical repair cost (for the most common repair you have to make) or the typical range of prices for repair?

The biggest difference going to 10spd will be that your bike's 2nd hand value will be higher.  People see 9spd and they think it's not the latest, so not worth much.

I guess the extra gear will be nice too.  I'm in the process of switching from 12-23 9spd (Ultegra) to 11-25 10spd (Chorus).  I was always too vain/proud/insecure to fit a 25, but I recently got one with the 2nd hand bike I bought and I'm not going to spend money getting rid of it, so now I have the perfect excuse to have a woosy gear on my bike (which I've secretly wanted every time I've gone up The Glen in less than racing form).
