Ok so there were 4 people there. Not much mass. Still needs to happen though. If we had to organise a first official Joburg critical mass for 29 April or 27 May, how many people would be interested? And any ideas for routes?

April  in Durban for Easter; planning on riding the Tour of Durban if they ever open registration...

Lets shoot for 27 May 2011. I will chat with people and find out where we can meet, and a time. I know I will be able to get at least 10-15 people, hopefully in the next month we have enough time to get many more

All sounds good. i will discuss with friends, work out a provisional route and post it for comments. We have a month and a half, lets make it good!!

If I can give some advice?

Do it.

Do it every month.

Make it the same time and the same meeting point.

The route can vary but it should make sense for people actually commuting to work.

We started with 4 in Cape Town, the critical 4, there were 4 of us and we were very critical.

This is still on track for first critical mass to happen on 27 May 2011 at 19h30. Suggested start is either 44 Stanley or Kitchener's Pub in Braamfontein. The about a 15km ride in and around town, at a decent but not hectic pace (you don't want to ride slowly in town on a Friday night, trust me, ending up at Kitcheners for a drink. We will figure out the details and keep updating. In the meantime, let everyone know. This WILL be happening on the last Friday of the month after 27 May 2011.

Any suggestions on route and start/finish are welcome.

Why dont we organise one on major commuter routes to actually get some mileage from the actual point of the critical mass.

How about William Nicol - fourways to Sandton in the North and Klip River - Alberton to town in the south. Do it on the last friday of every month or something like that.

Agreed that we need to be visible and acknowledged, and we must try and incorporate major roads to achieve that. We have time, so keep suggestions coming.
